09 Jan 2013.Very sad news that one of my first guitar heroes former Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.Johnson's manager confirms that the musician has chosen not to receive any chemotherapy.
His manager Robert Hoy used the Wilko Johnson Facebook page to make the announcement earlier today, confirming that the musician has decided not to seek treatment.
He wrote: "I am very sad to announce that Wilko has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas. He has chosen not to receive any chemotherapy. He is currently in good spirits, is not yet suffering any physical effects and can expect to enjoy at least another few months of reasonable health and activity."
Continuing, the manager confirmed that Johnson plans to maintain an active work schedule. Hoy added: "He has just set off on a trip to Japan; on his return we plan to complete a new CD, make a short tour of France, then give a series of farewell gigs in the UK. There is also a live DVD in the pipeline, filmed on the last UK tour."
Johnson, 65, played lead guitar with Dr Feelgood from the band's formation in 1971 until he left in 1977. During his stint, the band scored a Number One album with their 1976 live LP 'Stupidity'.
I saw him play a few times with Dr Feelgood at Hammersmith Odeon in the mid 70s.They were great live.
This was just before punk rock kicked off.

08 Jan 2013.VIP/Press night for Cirque du Soleil "KOOZA" live at The Royal Albert Hall,London. Internationally renowned gymnastic and circus troupe bring their new show to the UK for the first time.A full red carpet here as lots of photographers and press as some 30 celebs here.
Faces here included Harvey Goldsmith,Phillip Schofield,Lizzie Cundy,Andrew Castle,Toby Anstis,Eva Herzigova, Katharine Jenkins, Sir David Jason,Sir Clive Woodward,Elaine Paige, Holly Candy, Esther Rantzen,Darcey Bussell, Sir Ben Kingsley, Carol Voderman, Arlene Phillips,Diversity,Craig Revel Horwood and a few others.
In the press room i had some free beers, wines and bowl food before the show and beers, wines and desserts during the interval so that was nice.
The show was around 2 hours 30 mins over two sets.
Their clowns doing the usual slapstick routines and going in among the crowd for some fun audience participation.
They were the padding between the main acts.
A cracking band and a strong female singer and a stage production that was full of colour as usual with some great costumes.
A trio of Asian women who seem to find it as easy to bend backwards as forwards, with spines that appear to be made of supple rubber rather than bone, perform extraordinary feats of contortion. As their bodies intermingle the three become one.
There is also a stunning high-wire act, with the artists not just walking 30 feet above the stage, but also cycling across it too, and the grand finale, is an absolute blast, with the acrobats being catapulted almost as high as the lighting rig as they stand on one end of a see-saw and two burly chaps jump from a height onto the other end. The flyers somersault as they go, and some even perform the stunt on stilts before landing safely on a trampoline held by other members of the company.
The piece de resistance however is the Wheel of Death, consisting of two gigantic hamster wheels that revolve at either end of a steel axle. The performers stay upright by running frantically within the wire mesh cages, but the more daring of the pair also hitches lifts by hanging onto the outside of his wheel as it whirls him upwards, as well as performing skipping routines on top of it and taking terrifying leaps into the air before touching down again on the spinning machine.
You watch with your heart in your mouth because there isn’t a safety wire in sight and the act sets the whole house on a roar of delicious excitement and dread. At moments like this it is easy to forgive Cirque du Soleil its cheesier excesses.
There were other acts too.
An enjoyable show.
Tickets are from £25 to £85 and it is on at The Royal Albert Hall until 14 Feb 2013.

08 Jan 2013.Comedian Michael McIntyre took £21m in ticket sales from his latest tour, with 639,000 fans flocking to see his show. The most successful stand-up in the world last year according to ticket sales tracker Pollstar.

06 Jan 2013.6.30pm to 9.30pm was the Duchamp pre London Fashion Week Collections:Men drinks party at Little House,2 Queen Street,Mayfair,London W1.
Celebrating its 23rd anniversary in 2012, the company traces its origins to France and the chance discovery by the founder of a cache of 10,000 vintage cufflinks in a Paris flea market back in 1987. This led two years later to the launch of a London-based luxury goods business concentrating on mens accessories. Appropriately enough, the founder was reading a book about Dadaism at the time, and decided to name the new company after the French surrealist artist Marcel Duchamp.
They had half a dozen mannequins on display dressed in Duchamp jackets, shirts and accessories.
Full free bar including cocktails,Jack Daniels and coke along with lots of yummy hot food at this very nice newly opened private members club with plush armchairs.
Got a couple of nice goodie bags full of their nice wool socks and pochettes(silk pocket hankerchiefs).

05 Jan 2013.The David Sinclair Trio have a new single "America, Here’s My Boy" released on Monday, December 31. You can hear it on YouTube and buy it from iTunes today.
Beck has caused a sensation with his new album “Song Reader”. The 20 new songs on the album, all written by Beck, have only been released as a collection of printed sheet music. Beck has not recorded any of them, and none of the songs have been available for sale on CD or in any digital format – until now.
Produced by John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor, U2, Eno), “America Here’s My Boy” by the David Sinclair Trio can fairly be described as the definitive version of this haunting song.

04 Jan 2013."Fuerzabruta" live at The Roundhouse,London.
This was the second of two press nights for this
Argentine effects-based theatrical experience featuring bits of topless nudity, lots of water, aerial acrobatics as performers flinging themselves around the venue, confetti, latin drummers, wind machines and a loud thumping soundtrack that returns to the Roundhouse after a well-received run in 2006.
It is all standing for this show and all the action is above the heads of the punters so you can get a bit of a stiff neck. There is no story as such but lots of stomping and whooping.
It would be ideal act for the Glastonbury Festival.
The highlight was the middle section of 15 mins where
two giant plastic sheets of airborne pools of water are gradually lowered to inches above all the punters heads as the mainly female swimmers splash around in a kind of wet t shirt contest mixed with modern ballet romp.
That was a very impressive stunt i must say.
The reviews from the first press night gave it mainly three and four stars. For me it was three stars.
The show lasted 75 mins which seemed short as tix cost between £30 to £40 depending on which day of the week you go on.
It is on at The Roundhouse until 26 Jan 2013.
Check aftershow page for this event.

04 Jan 2013.Here are some new bands i will be keeping an eye on for success in 2013.
The main one has to be four-piece guitar band The Strypes from Cavan,Ireland who have just signed to Mercury UK for the world following a heated label battle for their signature.
With every band member aged between 14 and 16, the teenagers sound is clearly based around the clean R&B stylings of early Beatles and Stones material.
I saw them live a few months ago and they really gave me the wow factor.Check them out on youtube.
Others to look out for are
Palma Violets
Peace
Haim
Toy
The Weeknd

03 Jan 2013.London's Olympic Stadium is set to be re-opened in July with a series of rock concerts.
Concert promoters were impressed by the live music at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and Paralympics.
Final contracts are yet to be signed but the plan is for some concerts traditionally held at Hyde Park to head east as the council have reduced the amount of gigs that can be held in Hyde Park.
03 Jan 2013.Top 5 selling albums in the UK for 2012

30 Dec 2012.The Sun newspaper reports this funny one.
Staff at Holland Park,West London shop The Rug Company were shocked when members of the late singer Michael Jackson's entourage requested a refund on a rug bought three years ago for £15k. The rug was due to be used in his dressing room at the O2 arena, but he never had the chance to use it.
The shop DID give them a full refund and has since put Jacko's rug back on sale.

Fri 28 Dec and Sat 29 Dec i had a two night press stay at The Oakley Court Hotel,Windsor,Berkshire.
I was there from Friday 4pm to Sunday 11am.
Check the link on the right of this page.
Oakley Court is a Victorian Gothic country house set in 35 acres overlooking the River Thames at Water Oakley. It was built in 1859 and is currently a luxury four star hotel.
TEAM GB rowing and canoeing along with the BBC took over three quarters of the hotel for several weeks
during the 2012 OLYMPICS to use as their bass camp as it is near Eton Dorney.
Because it adjoins Bray Studios, the exterior of Oakley Court was used in the filming of a number of films in the 1960s and 1970s including several Hammer horror films, such as The Reptile (1966), The Brides of Dracula (1962), The Plague of the Zombies (1966), and And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973). It is perhaps best remembered as Dr. Frank N Furter's castle (called The Frankenstein Place) in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).
We popped into Windsor first for a couple of ours before we made our way to the hotel.
Windsor is four miles from the hotel with no bus or train access so you would need a car or minicab to get to the hotel.
The frontage of the hotel looks olde amazing.
Our deluxe room was spacious and overlooked the water.
We had complimentary buffet brekkie and three course dinner in the dining room on both days and afternoon tea and scones on the Saturday. We had slow cooked beef for mains on Friday and slow cooked Duck for mains on Saturday All the food was great and the staff in all areas of the hotel were so attentive.
I used the pool and sauna on the Saturday. It has its own 9 par golf course along with tennis courts etc.
Rooms start from around £100 a night with breakfast included.Three course dinner is around the £30 mark.
We had a really nice time at this hotel.
Check the link to the right of this page for full info on The Oakley Court Hotel,Windsor,Berks..

24 Dec 2012.Christmas Day 2012 is the 35th anniversary of Sid Vicious last ever UK gig with The Sex Pistols in Huddersfield in 1977.
24 Dec 2012.Christmas Day 1978 was the first ever show by John Lydons new band Public Image Ltd.
I was at that show.
Weird how you had Christmas Day gigs back then.

23 Dec 2012.Day 2 of Joe Strummer Remembered 10th anniversary weekend at The 100 Club,London.
With Glen Matlock And The Philistines....TV Smith... Spizz Energi....Ed Tudor Pole....London....The Duel....Night of Treason....
A weekend of bands at this famous venue to celebrate The Clash legend who died aged only 50.
The Pistols and The Clash are my two fave bands ever so i have loads of Clash history.I saw them around 20 times including supporting The Sex Pistols at the famous 100 Club Punk Festival in 1976 and their 1977 show at The Rainbow where all the seats got smashed up.I even saw Joe Strummer And The Mescaleros 10 times including at The 100 Club in Oct 2000 and his legendary last show at Acton Town Hall Nov 2002 when Mick Jones came on for the encores.
It is a sweaty full house tonight as it is a strong bill as five of the seven acts were around from the late 1970s punk period.
Nice quick changeovers as all the bands using the same amps and drum kit.All the support bands played for around 30 mins each and headliner Glen Matlock And the Philistines played a full 70 mins set.
Lots of folks here i know which was great.
In the crowd were Rusty Egan and Gaye Advert.
Some of the bands played a Clash track in their set.
Up first are Night Of Treason who are creating a proper buzz down on the South Coast as their album "Gentlemen And Hooligans" got lots of good reviews when it came our earlier in the year.A great mix of punk/ska/pop with singalong street lyrics.Really good.I used to play drums with their guitarist Bill in our band Gun Control in the early 1980s.
Type in Gun Control in the band search on this website to see where we played.
Next up were The Duel who have a great female singer giving 100%.They played tracks from their album.
Next up were London who brought out their debut single in 1977.They were a bit third rate back in the day but good to see them still playing.
Next up is Ed Tudor Pole who is as mad as a hatter but very entertaining. His pukka set ended great with
"Who Killed Bambi?" and "Swords Of A Thousand Men".
Next up was Spizz Energi with a full band. They played some of their great old tracks including "6000 Crazy","Soldier Soldier" and "Where's Captain Kirk".A really good set.
Next up was TV Smith with some acoustic gems including "No Time To Be 21","Gary Gilmore's Eyes",
"Bored Teenagers" and "One Chord Wonders".
A great night got even better when Glen Matlock And The Philistines hit the stage as they played a fantastic mix from Glens solo albums and the cream of gems from Glens previous bands. They whizzed through the set at full tilt with the front stage a mass of heaving dancing bodies.
Full setlist played was "Born Running","Timebomb",
"Hard Work","Burning Sounds","God Save The Queen",
"Idiot","Ghosts Of Princes And Towers","Somewhere Somehow","Yeah Right!","Steppin' Stone","White Knuckle Ride","On Something","Rattle Your Cage" and a mass singalong to "Pretty Vacant".We had a surprise treat for the encores as they played "Keys To Your Heart" which was by The 101'ers who were Joe Strummer's band before The Clash. We then had a fun cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".
A real Christmas cracker of a set and the whole evening was a fitting tribute to a punk legend.

22 Dec 2012.Madness live at The 02 Arena,London.
Madness play the second of two shows at The 02 Arena and it is the last night of their UK arena tour.
The Nutty Boys from North London are pretty much National Treasures these days and seem to be more popular than ever after two major events this year by playing on top of Buckingham Palace for The Queen's Jubilee and playing at The London Olympics Ceremony.
Another band i have a lot of history with as i have seen them over 20 times since 1979 when i saw them as a support act.
A great xmas party atmosphere as boozed up groups of blokes are ready for a good old knees up.Over 500 are wearing the trademark red fez on their heads.
Madness play for 1 hour 40 mins.Loads of great songs as they have had 30 Top 40 hits in the UK.
There are big screens and some velvet curtains around the stage. Also a string and brass section.
They played a few songs from their recent album with the silly title "Oui Oui,Si Si,Ja Ja,Da Da" that went down ok but the folks here really were after the old hits.
The last four songs of the main set were just fantastic as they played "House Of Fun","Baggy Trousers","Our House" and "It Must Be Love".
The floor standing is a heaving mass of dancing.
Wilko Johnson came on stage during the encore.
The band walk off the stage to Monty Python's
"Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" with all the crowd singing along loudly.
Madness always put on a great show.
Full Madness setlist played....
One Step Beyond....Embarrassment....The Prince....
NW5....My Girl....My Girl 2...Take It or Leave It...
The Sun and the Rain....How Can I Tell You....Grey Day....Wings of a Dove....Never Knew Your Name....

Madness(with Wilko Johnson on guitar)....Night Boat To Cairo....

21 Dec 2012.The Hit Factory Live concert at The 02 Arena,London
This show featured over a dozen acts who recorded with Stock Aitken Waterman (abbreviated as SAW).
The trio had great success during the mid to late 1980s and early 1990s. SAW are considered to be one of the most successful songwriting and producing partnerships of all time, scoring more than 100 UK top 40 hits, selling 40 million records.
Commercial hi energy pop was their area but their acts had an identikit production sound that was fun
when it worked well but was more shit factory than hit factory with most of their tepid acts.
Hosts are Pete Waterman,Gaby Roslin, Pat Sharp and Mick Brown.
Acts were Steps, Jason Donovan, Kylie Minogue, Bananarama, Rick Astley, Dead Or Alive, Sinitta, Pepsi & Shirlie, Princess,Sonia,Brother Beyond, Hazell Dean, 2 Unlimited, Lonnie Gordon.
The first half dozen acts played two or three tunes to a backing tape and from Dead Or Alive onwards it was the house band.A three hour show over two sets with quick changeovers and two big screens.
Most acts had some dancers on stage with them.
A lively atmosphere with all up from the start.
I missed the first three acts and but saw Brother Beyond,Sonia and Pepsi n Shirlie who were all dire.
Sinitta is now aged 44 but can still squeeze into her tiny 1980s outfit for fun hits including "So Macho" and "Toy Boy".Princess sung a couple of tunes including her big hit "Say I'm Your Number One".
Then the main act i have come to see play who are Dead Or Alive.Pete Burns looks a bit of a mess after too many cosmetic surgery operations but still dresses over the top in female clothing that is visually great. It is like chalk and cheese compared to the other boring polite acts here.Five great hits played "My Heart Goes Bang","Lover Come Back To Me","Brand New Lover","Something In My House" and the anthem "You Spin Me Round(Like A Record)" which has to be the best ever SAW produced record.
Then Rick Astley plays a few hits that the females like. Then Bananarama play a few hits including "I Heard A Rumour","I Want You Back","Venus" and "Guilty".A good set. Then Jason Donovan sung a few hits. Then Steps played a few of their hits.Folks are trying to copy their hand and dance routines.
We had the big reunion of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan for the first time in 23 years to sing their big hit "Especially For You".Kylie was discovered by SAW and they produced "I Should Be So Lucky".She has moved on to be bigger things now so did not lower herself to play that or a few songs here so just the one with Jason for her. Most of the acts on stage for the finale of the Slade Christmas track.
There was more crap bits than good bits tonight but it was a fun evening and well produced.
See aftershow page for this gig.

21 Dec 2012.Organisers have confirmed that the UK leg of Sonisphere will take a "year off" in 2013.
The hard rock festival, which began in 2009 and takes place at Knebworth, was cancelled in 2012, casting doubt over whether it will ever return.
" We made offers to over a dozen major artists but for various reasons none of these offers lead to securing a strong bill."
Too many festivals in the UK these days and some were cancelled in 2012 due to punters not buying advance tickets due to the poor weather we had last summer.

20 Dec 2012.The Pogues + Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls live at The 02 Arena,London.
One off UK show to celebrate The Pogues 30th anniversary and the 25th anniversary release of their classic single "Fairytale of New York" which has again made the Top 20 chart this Christmas.
Up first we have Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls who are an ideal support and play for 45 mins.I saw them headline Wembley Arena in April and the crowd know their songs like "I Still Believe"
and "Photosynthesis" and go down really well.
Another show where Level 4 was closed off as unsold.
I saw The Pogues a few times in their 1980s heyday and in Christmas 1985 i worked front stage security at Hammersmith Odeon when they played a Christmas show.Bearing in mind it was all seating then we really earned our money that night.Total chaos.
The Pogues normally play a couple of shows at Brixton Academy these days and i was kind of thinking would this big venue suit them.Of course most folks here have had a few beers and the front floor standing area is heaving with dancing.
Pogues fans really do create a great atmosphere.
The Pogues play for around 1 hour 45 mins. Two big screens either side of the stage and fairylights behind them. The band sound tight. The legend that is Shane MacGowan still mumbles his way through the vocals but nobody cares. They love him more for it.
He still looks very unhealthy.Lots of great songs and a few average songs.
They really did turn The 02 Arena into Brixton Academy for the night.A great show.
Full Pogues setlist played....
Streams of Whiskey....If I Should Fall From Grace With God....Broad Majestic Shannon....Greenland Whale Fisheries....A Pair of Brown Eyes....Tuesday Morning....Kitty... The Sunnyside of the Street....
Thousands Are Sailing....Repeal of the Licensing Laws....Lullaby of London....The Body of an American....Young Ned of the Hill....Boys From the County Hell....Dirty Old Town...Bottle of Smoke....
The Sick Bed of Cúchulainn....
Encore 1...:Sally MacLennane....A Rainy Night in Soho...The Irish Rover....
Encore 2...:The Star Of The County Down....Poor Paddy.... Fairytale of New York (with Camille O'Sullivan taking the female vocals)....Fiesta
The Pogues have just released "Live At The Olympia Paris 2012" on CD and DVD.

19 Dec 2012.Status Quo + Bonnie Tyler + Eddie And The Hot Rods live at The 02 Arena,London.
A very nice three band package from promoters Live Nation with all three acts having their first hits back in the 1970s.
Only half full here as Level 4 closed off.
At one of the Hot Rods Marquee gigs in early 1976 their opening act was a young band named The Sex Pistols playing one of their first London gigs, which descended into chaos with the Pistols smashing the Hot Rods' gear. I saw them during a residency at the club in the summer of 1976 when they duelled for alternate weeks with AC/DC to see who could cram more bodies into the Marquee during one of the hottest summers on record. This was of course when Bon Scott was AC/DCs lead singer and they were the hottest new rock band in town.I was at six of AC/DCs Marquee shows in 1976 as well as four of their gigs at other venues that year.Amazing gigs for sure.
Eddie And The Hot Rods played a really good 30 mins set.Still with Barry Masters on vocals and a guitarist playing some nifty riffs.Great to hear gems like "Life On The Line" and the totally brilliant "Do Anything You Wanna Do" again.
Up next was Bonnie Tyler who does not play that many gigs in London for some reason. On stage for 45 mins. She still is dressed like its 1988 when i saw her headline Hammersmith Odeon.
She still has that great rasping Welsh voice.
She opened her set with a cover of "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" by CCR.
She played her 1970s hits "Its A Heartache" and
"Lost In France" as well as her massive hit from the 1980s "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" when she worked with Jim Steinman.A good set.
I have seen Status Quo around 40 times since 1974 including a couple of shows in Australia a few years ago.On stage for 1 hour 40 mins with lots of great songs in the first third and last third along with some average tunes in the middle third. There are big screens but it is just images to go with the lights as no cameras here for the band to be shown on the screen.
Of course they are not the mega rock band i saw in the 1970s/1980s but still great fun to nod your head to.
Should be interesting in March 2013 when the four original members reunite for a tour.
Full Status Quo setlist played.....
Caroline....Paper Plane....Hold You Back... Rain
....Mystery Song....Rock 'n' Roll 'n' You....
Beginning of the End....medley of What You're Proposing / Down The Dustpipe / Wild Side Of Life / Railroad / Again And Again....Big Fat Mama....The Oriental....Creepin' Up On You....
Marguerita Time....Living on an Island....In the Army Now....Drum Solo....Roll Over Lay Down....
Down Down....Whatever You Want....Rockin' All Over the World....
Encores...:medley of Walking in a Winter Wonderland / Rocking Around The Christmas Tree / It's Christmas Time....Burning Bridges....
Status Quo drummer Matt Letley played his final performance with the group at this show after 12 years. There was no mention of it on stage but the band made sure he was last to leave the stage to wave goodbye to the fans.

19 Dec 2012.Bon Jovi have leaked the London date as 05 July 2013 as part of their summer tour.Venue not been disclosed but it is not Wembley Stadium.
Maybe Emirates or Twickenham or Hyde Park????

17 Dec 2012.Thin Lizzy + The Quireboys live at Shepherds Bush Empire,London.
Support band tonight are The Quireboys who i have seen play a few really good shows before.Sadly i only see the last two songs of their 45 mins set which ended with a brilliant "7 O'Clock".A great sound with some superb rasping blues rock vocals.
I must check their own shows out next year.
Tonight was the last date of Thin Lizzy UK tour.
Another rock band i have a lot of history with as i saw Phil Lynott play with Thin Lizzy 23 times before his death with the first time being as a support act to Bachman Turner Overdrive way back in 1975.
This was called a "Farewell Tour" as in 2013 Thin Lizzy will release an album of new material but not under the Thin Lizzy name.
The band have said “We felt, let’s make the record, put it out under a different name – and let the fans know this is Thin Lizzy 2013 under a different name".
Level 2 and 3 upstairs are closed off as unsold.
Thin Lizzy played a 95 mins set.
The Thin Lizzy logo in lights up behind them.
They still have two original members with drummer Brian Downey and guitarist Scott Gorham.Ricky Warwick does a decent job on vocals but nobody could really come close to matching the sadly missed Phil Lynott.
Marco Mendoza is always great to watch on bass.
The quality of the songs are still fantastic and the twin Les Paul guitars sound just brilliant.
The highlight was the classic segment of "Cowboy Song" leading in to "The Boys Are Back In Town".
I even got a Marco Mendoza guitar plectrum that someone made its way up to the Level 1 area.A really good solid rock show and 2013 should be an interesting year for the band.
Full Thin Lizzy setlist played....

16 Dec 2012.Green Day's "American Idiot" the musical live at Hammersmith Apollo,London.
Musical based mainly on songs from their 14m selling 2004 classic album "American Idiot" and a few songs from their other albums.
This musical won two Tony Awards on Broadway.
This was the last of 16 shows at this venue for this musical at the end of their three month UK tour. Not sure why they chose this big venue as none of the 16 shows were more than half full i have been told with some midweek shows only getting 500 punters in a venue that holds 4000.
The show was on for around 1 hour 40 mins over two sets.We have a band playing the songs on stage and some actors and singers with the theme of the show being "bored suburban kids playing around with rebellion".The stage set has around 30 tv screens and some staircases.
It feels like a glorified tribute band show as i am more interested in the great Green Day songs than the acting.Highlights included "American Idiot","Holiday","Boulevard Of Broken Dreams","Are We The Waiting","Know Your Enemy","21 Guns","Wake Me Up When September Ends" and encore of "Good Riddance(Time Of Your Life)".
An enjoyable show.
Green Day the band are due to play a big outdoor show at Emirates Stadium (Arsenal F.C.) on 01 June 2013.
then
11pm to 2.30am was Will.i.am launch party at One Marylebone,London.
This was a 9pm start but got here late because of Green Day musical and it is well oversubscribed and 100 folks outside in the queue being told no chance of getting in before midnight.Over 500 inside.
Luckily i knew one of the pr girls for quick entry.
A very glammed up crowd here with lots of great looking model type girls.Full free bar all night including Moet champers and Jack Daniels.
We had some treats from the SNOG yogurt folks.
Very unusual for this kind of late finish event to happen on a Sunday.Maybe because it is coming up to Christmas.
Black Eyed Peas rapper and The Voice judge will.i.am launched his new i.am+ foto.sosho camera range with a party at One Marylebone. The stylish rapper was joined at the party by Luther star Idris Elba, world renowned DJ David Guetta, his former protégé Tyler James, Jodie Harsh, boxer David Haye and JLS star Aston Merrygold. Partygoers were treated by a live performance by Cirque Du Soir firebreathers etc whilst there were many double-takes as a host of lookalikes, including doubles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,David Bowie,Diana Ross, Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson posed for pictures. Other faces gracing the red carpet here included Lemar, Lauren Pope, Rosie Fortescue, Chloe Green, Misha B, Kye Sones, Tom Daley, Leandro Penna, Cleo Sol and rapper Daley.
I got my photo taken with David Haye. The girls were all swooning over him all night.
For the last two hours the djs are Will.i.am and David Guetta and the place is proper rockin' with loud club anthems.Oddly enough a remix of Oasis "Wonderwall" goes down a storm as everyone knows the lyrics and sings loudly along.
This great party must have cost a fortune.

then

13 Dec 2012.Squeeze live at Shepherds Bush Empire,London.
This was the second of three shows at three different venues in London by Squeeze on this UK tour.
I have seen Squeeze over 20 times since i first saw them as a support act way in 1978.
All of Squeeze's hits were written by band members Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, with the former penning the lyrics and the latter handling the composition. The duo were hailed as New Waves "the heirs to Lennon and McCartney's throne" during their peak of popularity in the early 1980s.
They were on stage for 1 hour 40 mins.A nice big screen was used well with half a dozen of those tiny mini cameras set up around the stage.
Squeeze have so many well crafted catchy songs with sharp lyrics from their heyday that the band struggles a bit when they throw in some new songs.
This crowd just want a pre Christmas singalong to the old hits and there was plenty of them.Half the songs played were great hit singles and the other half of the set was pretty average.
Overall though an enjoyable show.
Full Squeeze setlist played...
Bang Bang....Annie Get Your Gun....Without You Here....Slap and Tickle....Tommy....Top of the Form....No Place Like Home....Still....Is That Love....Labelled With Love....Slaughtered, Gutted, and Heartbroken....Take Me I'm Yours....

....Tempted....Up the Junction....Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)....
Encores...Cool for Cats....Another Nail in My Heart....Goodbye Girl....

12 Dec 2012.Black Keys + Maccabees live at The 02 Arena,London.
First of two sold out shows here.Gig going can be hard work in these arctic weather evenings.
Black Keys back in London after three sold out Ally Pally gigs in Feb of this year. They have played arena shows all over the world in 2012 including headlining Madison Square Garden after the success of their seventh album "El Camino" and join The Rolling Stones in New York for a song on 15 Dec after these gigs.
Up first we have indie rockers The Maccabees from South London who play a 45 mins set of tracks from their three albums. They have four shows in a week at this big venue as i saw them as support to Florence And The Machine last week as all the bands have the same promoter. Some really good songs played including "Feel To Follow","Love You Better" and the excellent "Pelican" at the end.
Full Maccabees setlist played....
Given to the Wild (Intro)....Child....William Powers....Wall of Arms....Feel to Follow....Go...
Can You Give It....X-Ray....Forever I've Known...
No Kind Words....Love You Better....Pelican....
This is my first time seeing The Black Keys.
From unfashionable Akron, Ohio, they are a guitar-based band very much in The White Stripes format – a guitar/drums garage-rock duo. Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are casually dressed at the front of stage. They are not archetypal pop stars.Nice to see the drums front stage centre.
They are joined by two other musicians.
They have big screens but they are not used for a few songs and are replaced by intimate spotlights dotted around the stage.
The 90 mins set is nice scuzzy blues rock guitar with a big drum sound.Highlights were "Howling For You","Gold On The Ceiling","Tighten Up" and the final song of the main set was their biggest tune "Lonely Boy".A good show from these unlikely pop stars.
Full Black Keys setlist played....
Howlin' for You....Next Girl....Run Right Back...
Same Old Thing....Dead and Gone....Gold on the Ceiling....Thickfreakness....Girl Is on My Mind..
Your Touch....Little Black Submarines....Money Maker....Strange Times....Sinister Kid....Nova Baby....Ten Cent Pistol....She's Long Gone....
Tighten Up....Lonely Boy....
Encores:...Everlasting Light....I Got Mine....

10 Dec 2012.7.45pm to 10.30pm.
Tia Maria room launch party at Village Underground,Shoreditch,London.
Tia Maria room is a global music tour and was launched earlier this year in Montreal and next month it is heading to Amsterdam. The Tia Maria room provides a platform for unique and talented artists across the globe.
Tia Maria is a coffee liqueur made originally in Jamaica using Jamaican coffee beans. The main ingredients are coffee beans, cane spirit, vanilla and sugar.
We had a choice of three complimentary Tia Maria
cocktails all evening along with canapes.
Tiaginger(Tia Maria with Ginger Beer),
Tialove(Tia Maria with Mount Gay Rum) and my fave the totally yummy Tiaespresso Martini(Tia Maria with espresso coffee and vodka).
The venue tonight is the super cool Village Underground with its exposed brickwork and vaulted ceiling.
We have djs before and after the live act keeping things lively. The live act was up and coming singer Emily King who played six songs in a 30 mins set.it was three covers and three originals including "Radio".
Emily King is a singer/songwriter who is fresh from supporting Emeli Sandé at the Royal Albert Hall last month. After receiving a Grammy nomination for her debut album 'East Side Story' in 2008, Emily's follow-up EP 'Seven' has received high praise from peers and critics alike including Alicia keys, Ne-Yo and Maroon 5. King's carefully crafted compositions are a gentle mix of soul, folk and rock influences - the ideal soundtrack for the decadent taste of Tia Maria. She has also toured with John Legend and Maroon 5.
