A nice little pension earner.
“Walking on Sunshine”, the irritatingly catchy 1985 pop hit by Katrina & The Waves, is a new — and perhaps unlikely — member of this club. The song has just been acquired by BMG, the Bertelsmann-owned music
company, for a staggering £10m....yes £10
As part of the deal, the German company, which declined to comment on the purchase price, has acquired the rights to every song written by Katrina & The Waves and the band’s main songwriter, Kimberley Rew.
The catalogue includes “Love Shine a Light”, which won the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, and “Going Down to Liverpool”, which was covered by The Bangles, the US all-female band.
But almost all of the UK band’s music publishing income stems from “Walking on Sunshine”, a person familiar with the situation said.
The song was a hit on its release 30 years ago, reaching number 8 in the UK singles chart and number 9 in the US. But since then it has become a cash-cow, used in commercials, television programmes and movies ranging from High Fidelity to American Psycho, earning hefty royalties each time.
It generates an estimated $1m a year in publishing income and has been covered by acts ranging from The Muppets to Dolly Parton. “It is a song loved around the world, working across cultures and languages,” said Patrick Joest, BMG’s executive vice-president of marketing.

It seems every week a singer or actor that I watched often in the old days passes away.
Actor George Cole, best known for playing Arthur Daley in TV's Minder, has died aged 90.
Cole played the Cockney wheeler dealer Daley for 16 years, between 1979 and 1994.
He also starred in a number of St Trinian's films as shady businessman Flash Harry.
Agent Derek Webster said Cole had died at the Royal Berkshire hospital following a short illness, surrounded by his family.
"It is with deep regret that I have to announce the sad death of one of our most loved and respected actors," he said.
Cole played opposite Dennis Waterman's Terry McCann, an affable bodyguard, in ITV's Minder for more than a decade.

Media launch party for Smith & Whistle at The Park Lane Hotel,Piccadilly,London W1.
This cool looking bar at the side of the hotel looks very sleek when you walk in.
A great location opposite Green Park and 100 yards from The Hard Rock Cafe.
The staff are very smartly attired and fussing over all the guests.
All guests enjoyed complimentary Moët champers, eight different signature cocktails, wines, beers
and small plates of very nice food.
The excellent cocktails are priced at £10 each and included a Spicy Bloody Mary.
The food included Pulled duck with black pudding,Curious Brew battered fish,
English wild mushroom on toast,Potted South Devon crab and others.
A very enjoyable bar to visit.

Smith & Whistle, the new bar at The Park Lane Hotel, provides friendly flare with a nod to the style and history of its home and its Mayfair surroundings. Serving craft beers and dishes from locally sourced ingredients, Smith & Whistle is the perfect place for an after-dinner drink or weekend catch-up with friends.
The bar’s name takes inspiration from the fictional story of Detective Inspector Smith and his pursuit of legendary high-class criminal Mr. Whistle. Set in and around 1920’s Mayfair, the story sees Smith & Whistle embark on a game of cat and mouse as they try to outsmart each other. In between adventures, the two find common ground at the hotel bar on Park Lane.
It is the building’s classic 1920’s hertiage that has inspired the bar’s interiors, with bold geometric shapes, rich colours and ornate finishes that reflect the revolutionary style of the era.
Smith & Whistle's menu is inspired by the history and vibrancy of its Mayfair surroundings with dishes such as pulled duck and black pudding, devilled whitebait, potted South Devon crab, and raspberry and vanilla trifle. The dishes are designed to be shared and several are served in jar form, perfect as a starter or shared dish
for one or two whilst three or four make a generous main course.
Whether guests favour an ale or Whisky like Smith or a trademark cocktail like Whistle, the extensive drinks menu at Smith & Whistle caters for all tastes. The carefully curated beer selection includes Curious Brew and Curious IPA on draught as well as bottled beers such as Schiehallion, West’s St. Mungo, Innis & Gunn and Ola Dubh 12, reflecting some of the best British produce available.
Smith & Whislte’s expert mixologists combine traditional ingredients with more unusual accompaniments to create cocktails that tickle the tastebuds. Highlights include Mayfair Mystery (Absolut Vodka, Jaegermeister, Elderflower Cordial, Fresh Lime Juice, Szechuan Pepper Honey, and chilli) and Bee’s Knees (Olmeca Reposado, Plum Wine, Regan’s Orange Bitters, and Pork Crackling Syrup).
Smith & Whistle is open seven days a week from 16.30 – 00.30. Food is served from 16.30 – 22.00

Press launch of Percy's Den at Percy and Founders, 1 Pearson Square,London W1.
This was another basement bar launch.
Percy and Founders is a relaxed all-day bar and restaurant located on the former site
of the old Middlesex Hospital - 5 mins from Oxford Street and Oxford Circus tube station.
The main area on the ground floor opened a couple of months ago but now there are a couple
of smaller areas downstairs for private events and private dining.
You can smell the newness of the building.
Complimentary Billecart Salmon champers and two different cocktails flowed all night and canapés.
The staff were great as they fussed over the guests and kept the champers topped up.
The very nice cocktails were made freshly in front of you with care by the nice bar staff.
A place well worth a visit. their website here.

McQueen exhibition most successful for V&A.
Deputy director of the Victoria and Albert museum, Tim Reeve, revealed that the Savage Beauty exhibition, which was a retrospective of the work by fashion designer Alexander McQueen, was their most popular show ever, yesterday. Reeve reported that more than 480,000 tickets were sold and the show was a bigger success than 2013's David Bowie show.

The Commitments musical live at The Palace Theatre,London W1.
A couple of websites are offering a special offer on tickets for a mere £10 each.
If you are flexible on dates you can get great seats...mine are Row J in the stalls...
I bought four for a family evening out so it was great to finally see this musical.
It finishes it's West End run on 01 Nov 2015 after a two year run at this 1400 capacity venue.
It got mixed reviews from the critics when it first came out.
The Commitments is a musical written by Roddy Doyle. Based on the novel of the same name, also written by Roddy Doyle, the musical made its West End and world premiere in 2013 at London's Palace Theatre. The show features soul music classics.
The show was on for around two hours over two sets of an hour.
It is based in Dublin so plenty of Irish type lingo during the show.
Pretty much the ups and downs of getting a band together until they get a bit of success.
Relationships between band members and the three female backing singers.
Lots of well known soul songs with the all the crowd up and dancing for the last five tracks.
An enjoyable show.
The musical features nineteen main songs(see list below) with a further nineteen short sound bite's
of soul and motown numbers.
"You Keep Me Hangin' On"
"Knock On Wood"
"In The Midnight Hour"
"What Becomes of the Brokenhearted"
"I Heard It Through the Grapevine"
"Reach Out I'll Be There"
"I Can't Turn You Loose"
"Thin Line Between Love and Hate"
"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"
"Papa Was a Rollin' Stone"
"Night Train"
"Mr. Pitiful"
"Uptight (Everything's Alright)"

Sunday 02 August 2015...another sad death to report...
Singer ,tv and showbiz legend Cilla Black has died aged 72 at her holiday home in Spain.
For the last couple of years she had talked about not wanting to get old.
In the 1960s Cilla got a part-time job as a cloakroom attendant at Liverpool's Cavern Club.
Cilla was an English singer, actress, entertainer and media personality. Championed by The Beatles, she began her career as a singer in 1963, and her singles "Anyone Who Had a Heart" (1964) and "You're My World" (1964) both reached number one. Black had eleven Top Ten hits on the British charts between 1964 and 1971. In May 2010 new research published by BBC Radio 2 showed that her version of "Anyone Who Had a Heart" was the UK's biggest selling single by a female artist in the 1960s.
Cilla was given her own BBC TV show in 1968. Close pal Paul McCartney provided the signature tune 'Step Inside Love'.
In the 1980s she was one of the biggest names on UK tv with shows like 'Blind Date' and 'Surprise Surprise'.
Both the shows were on prime time tv for over 15 years.
Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney have paid tribute to her and
Burt Bacharach, who worked with Cilla on the hit song ‘Alfie’ said, “It will always be a most special memory for me of recording her on Alfie in Abbey Road Studios in 1965.”.

Thursday 30 July 2015...7pm to 10pm...
Storeys press launch party at The Multi Storey Car Park next to the ex BBC Television Centre,
Wood Lane,London W12.
We are outdoors on the roof of this car park next to the ex BBC Television Centre.
Thankfully it is a decent evening weather wise.
I arranged for Sex Pistols members Glen Matlock and Paul Cook to be added to the guest list so it was
great that both of them turned up here for an hour or so...both live fairly near to the venue.
Lots of folks here I know.
Storeys have made great use of the huge space here and there are plenty of tables and chairs.
We have a couple of young artists painting murals on the walls.
Lots of very nice complimentary drinks and yummy food for all guests.
Jack Daniels was in the house and the rum cocktails were great.
Not all the vendors that will be here on a normal night are here tonight.
The Bloody Mary bar is not here and there are only three food outlets.
Also the generator cut out so there was no power to cook the food from 8.30pm onwards
so luckily I was there on time at 7pm so i tasted all the food.
The venue is opposite Wood Lane tube and 200 yards from White City tube.
Worth popping in here and it's also very near to...
Westfield Shopping Centre --- 2 mins walk away
Shepherds Bush Empire --- 5 mins walk away
QPR Football Ground --- 5 mins walk away

Set over two levels and spanning an impressive 24,000 square feet, Storeys will offer sweeping panoramic views of West London from nine storeys high.
Food lovers can choose from a series of dynamic street food traders; including a French American brunch menu from Le Bun, Crabbieshack’s soft shell crab burgers, finger-licking wings from Randy’s Wing Bar, succulent skewers from En Brochette, Asian-Carribean fusion from Yum Jungle, fresh Peruvian ceviche and anticuchos from Aji Ceviche, spicy jerk chicken from White Men Can’t Jerk, handmade gourmet ice lollies from Lickalix and more yet to be announced.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, sleepyheads can wake themselves up with some quality espresso-based coffee or if it’s hair of the dog you’re after, head to the Bloody Mary bar, open for guests to help themselves while they kick back and relax on double day beds. Mixologists will also be serving expertly-crafted rum cocktails from the Rum Shack, while tropical fruit sharers, ice cold beer and more will be available from the TV Bar.
The interior will be bold and contemporary, with striking graphic elements and colourful wall murals. Singer Ricky Wilson is full of energy and knows how to get the crowd involved.

A brilliant show.

Wednesday 29 July 2015.
A very sad day as the last paid for issue of NME is out today priced £3.50.
A bumper edition featuring 50 of their greatest covers and highlights of its 60 plus years since 1952.
Due to dwindling sales it will take a break then it will be a free magazine of some sort in September.
Expect it to be similar to the one that Time Out give out at tube stations etc.
I first got it in the mid 1970s and for the last decade have been a subscriber in a bid to help its sales decline.
NME sold over 200,000 copies a week in its 1970s heyday and this year it's down to a mere 15,000 copies a week.
It was only a matter of time that the internet would eventually kill it off.

Monday 27 July 2015.
I suppose it was only a matter of time before this would happen.
Legendary Irish band The Pogues have launched their own whiskey in collaboration with West Cork Distillers in the UK.
Called The Pogues Irish Whiskey, it is a blend of grain and 50% single malt whiskey, making it Ireland’s highest malt-containing blended Irish whiskey.
It is smooth, with malty notes to the fore and slight warm spice plus dark chocolate on the finish. It has an aroma of malt, cracked nuts, almond and a slight sweetness.
The recommended retail price is £30.

Saturday 25 July and Sunday 26 July 2015.
The Ramblin' Man Fair live at Mote Park,Maidstone,Kent.
This was the first Ramblin' Man Fair which is held in Maidstone just over an hour from South London.
Headliners Gregg Allman and Scorpions play UK festival exclusive sets.
Sat 25 July---Scorpions + Dream Theater + Saxon + Blue Oyster Cult + FM.
I have seen Scorpions over 15 times since 1979 but they have not played the UK for a few years.
Dream Theater playing the only UK show on their European Tour.
I have seen Saxon over 20 times since 1979.
Blue Oyster Cult are playing their only show in Europe between American dates.
I first saw them in 1975 when Motörhead were the support band.
Sun 26 July---Gregg Allman + Seasick Steve + Rival Sons + Temperance Movement + Quireboys +
Ian Anderson and others.
A very rare UK show from Gregg Allman.
I saw The Allman Brothers play Hammersmith Odeon in 1991.
The weather folks got it dead right so thankfully i was well prepared.
Lots of rain in London the Friday before the opening day but Saturday was nice and sunny in Maidstone.
Sunday it drizzled all afternoon but nothing too heavy and it was dry in the evening.
The venue is 20 or 25,000 capacity but there is loads of space.
I was told 15,000 tix sold on Saturday and 12,000 tix sold on Sunday.
That meant it was perfect to get close to the stages and no mad queues for anything.
As the live music focused on Classic Rock,Blues and Prog it was mainly an older crowd.
I much prefer festivals this size as Glastonbury,Reading and Download are way too big.
The main stage had two big screens and the headliners had a third behind them.
FM were on for 40 mins and played a really good set of catchy rock tunes.
BLUE OYSTER CULT took the stage at 4.20pm for a good 45 mins set.
I was expecting something special but perhaps they were on too early for anything like that.
Still great to hear some of their 1970s gems though.
Full setlist played...
The Red & the Black
Burnin' for You
Harvester of Eyes

SAXON were on for 55 mins and much better than BOC.
For Saxon,Dream Theater and Scorpions I am front row on the left in front of the speakers.
They play a perfect setlist and the band rocked and Biff sounded better than ever.
They were the best support band today I thought.
Check their Facebook page for their usual video clip of their crowd.
Full setlist played...

Power and the Glory
Strong Arm of the Law
Heavy Metal Thunder

DREAM THEATER were on stage for 60 mins.
They are top notch musicians but it all became muso twaddle.
I spent all their set wishing Saxon could come back and play a few more songs.
The only good thing is Dream Theater drummers always have a truly massive drum kit.
SCORPIONS arrive on stage late so there is an hour gap since Dream Theater left the stage.
Perhaps they are waiting for darkness to fall as their big screens look fantastic behind them.
They arrive on stage at 9.05pm and play for 1 hour 40 mins.
The setlist is a great mix of well known gems and lesser known and rarely played material.
Lots of great guitar riffs and it was really good to them again after a few years away from the UK.
The drum kit was elevated during the drum solo.
The singer must have thrown 20 or 30 drumsticks out to the front rows but I missed out.

The bill was not as impressive as Saturday so less people here today.
I am quite happy as that means loads of space and easy to get near the stage.
BLUES PILLS from Sweden are on at 1pm for a good 35 mins set.
They have a foxy female singer in tight black jeans shaking her waist length hair and a great voice as well.
SOLSTAFIR are from Iceland but were pretty average.
THE QUIREBOYS play a 40 mins set and are fantastic.....I watched them from front row left.
I have seen them a dozen times as they really are a great good time rock n roll band in the mould
of The Faces with a singer who has plenty of Rod type moves and voice.
I saw them support Guns n Roses and Aerosmith at Hammersmith Odeon in the late 1980s
and when they headlined Hammersmith Odeon in 1990.
Spike their singer still has that brilliant rasping voice along with some fun stage banter.
Highlights included 'There She Goes Again','Hey You' and '7 O'Clock'.
They ended up being my fave band of the day.
THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT are a British blues rock band formed in 2011 by Glasgow-born vocalist
Phil Campbell and guitarists Luke Potashnick and Paul Sayer.
They play a good 50 mins set with some great vocals from Paul..and some odd stage moves.
RIVAL SONS from California are introduced by comedian Vic Reeves.
They have had a good last year as they are playing bigger and bigger venues in the UK.
The look the part and play some neat blues rock with a funky edge in their 55 mins set.
They support Deep Purple at The 02 Arena on 03 Dec 2015.
SEASICK STEVE is on for 60 mins with just him and a drummer.
He is playing lots of different battered guitars...a couple only had one string.
He was the only artist this weekend that I saw go into the pit and shake hands with the crowd.
He picked out a girl to bring her on stage and sing a song to her.
He is always grateful to the UK crowd who gave him such a great job late on life.
IAN ANDERSON was on the Prog stage so I caught the last 20 mins of his set.
He played the Jethro Tull track 'Aqualung' which was good...lots of flute playing as expected.
GREGG ALLMAN was an odd headline choice i must say but I suppose he plays The Blues
and has not played the UK for many years so perhaps that's enough.
He is on stage from 8.40pm for around 1 hour 45 mins with a nice big screen behind showing neat images.
He has a slick band with nine musicians on stage including a three piece brass section.
There were lots of blues covers in the set.
There was no real excitement going on and the applause was quite and polite and not what you
normally would get from a headline act at a festival.
The Allman Brothers were never that massive over here so perhaps that was partly the reason.
It was decent enough but nothing really special to be honest...maybe just not my cup of tea
as bands like The Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead i was never into.
Full setlist played...
Statesboro Blues (Blind Willie McTell cover)
I'm No Angel (The Gregg Allman Band song)
Come and Go Blues (The Allman Brothers Band song)

Overall Ramblin' Man Festival was great so hopefully it will come back next year.

Saturday 25 July 2015.
A Shepherds Bush landmark served its last meal on Saturday.
I went there a few times.
A Cooke’s have been knocking out bowls of pie, mash, liquor and jellied eels for over a century. The shop on Goldhawk Road – which you’ll recognise if you’ve ever seen Phil Daniels and Ray Winstone casually being racist over a cup of tea in Quadrophenia – has been run by the same family since 1899. The shop's current owner, Mike Boughton, is the great-grandson of founder AH Cooke and through its four generations it has become an iconic West London destination. But that’s where the romanticising stops.
For nearly three years now, A Cooke’s had been operating under the threat of a compulsory purchase order from property company Orion Land and Leisure, who want to rebuild Shepherd's Bush Market and its surrounding shops and replace it all, of course, with a block of 200 luxury flats with silly prices no doubt.
Steve Jones and Paul Cook from The Sex Pistols were regulars in the 1970s and Paul Cook is still a regular
as he still lives in Shepherds Bush.
Paul Cook was there on the last day along with a bunch of mods and their scooters as a long queue
formed as folks wanted to pay their last respects.

Friday 24 July 2015.
35 years ago my band Gun Control played their first ever gig on 24 July 1980
at The Swan Pub on Hammersmith Broadway which is still there.
I was the drummer.
Iron Maiden played early gigs at this pub with original singer Paul Di'Anno in 1979.
Check the website band search for the full gig list of where Gun Control played.

Thursday 23 July 2015...I went to two events tonight...
6.10pm to 7.10pm
Harrods 'Christmas in July' at 35a Cornwall Road,Waterloo,London SE1.
Harrods have taken over this private house and decked it out room by room
with items they hope that will be popular sellers in the run up to Christmas.
Ground floor was gifts and home entertainment and furnishings.
First floor was the mens room and children's room.
In the children's room we had a great demo from the Anki OVERDRIVE guys who showed us
their car racing circuit that takes things to another level.
The Anki OVERDRIVE Starter Kit is your first step into the world of real robot battle racing. Open the Starter Kit, download the Anki OVERDRIVE app, build your battlefield and unleash two unique robotic Supercars in a quest to be crowned champion of the Anki OVERDRIVE Tournament. Each player must have an iOS or Android device to play.
Cars race each other using your phone as the steering wheel ,they can shoot each other to slow them down,
you can change lanes and it's all very easy to set up...retail I think was £149.99.
It has been a huge success in America and no doubt will fly off the shelves in the UK this Christmas.
Second floor was the woman's room featuring fragrances and Urban Retreat.
Make it a luxury Christmas this season with gifts galore, party
dresses, stocking fillers, Champagne and of course, the Harrods
Christmas hampers.
All attendees enjoyed complimentary Harrods champers and Harrods canapés.
All attendees got a nice goodie bag on the way out.

Pennethorne's Cafe Bar showcase at Somerset House.Strand,London WC2.
The massive Somerset House now has five or six bars, cafés and restaurants.
Pennethorne's is a stylish contemporary cafe bar.
Our barman Paulo was fantastic as he explained each of their infused cocktails.
We enjoyed complimentary cocktails, sparkling wines and a board of cheese's and ham's.

AMERICAN IDIOT press night at The Arts Theatre ,Great Newport Street,London WC2.
American Idiot is a sung-through stage adaptation of punk rock band Green Day's rock opera album
' American Idiot'.
I saw this musical at Hammersmith Apollo three years ago.
This time around it is at a much smaller theatre but with a longer run.
Hammersmith Apollo seats 4000 when it's stalls seated and this theatre holds a mere 350.
It may be a smaller venue but it's still a full red carpet event with lots of security and gawping tourists
behind the barriers wondering what's going on.
Tonight the show started at 7.10pm for the 7pm start and lasted around 1 hour 40 mins.
The Tony and Grammy award-winning show opened at the Arts Theatre in London this evening,
with former X-Factor finalist Amelia Lily making her West End debut.
Around a dozen male/female performers on stage along with a four piece band up on a platform at the back.
The musical follows the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world.
It features lots of pop-punk gems by Green Day, including 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams', '21 Guns',' Wake Me Up When September Ends' and 'American Idiot', the title track from the band's 2004 hit album.
The show was pretty much 90% Green Day tunes and 10% narrative.
A very enjoyable and lively show that whizzed along.
A few faces in the crowd including Big Brother presenter Emma Willis and husband Matt ,
alongside former X-Factor contestants Diana Vickers and Joe McElderry, who won the sixth series of the show.
Also Gareth Gates was here.
American Idiot is at the theatre until September 27.
9.15pm to 11.30pm was the afterparty at The Haymarket Hotel,London SW1.
Around 300 folks here by the swimming pool area of this four star hotel.
All the cast and the celebs from earlier all came along to this.
Nobody fell in the pool which was a shame.
Complimentary wines, beers, burgers, fish n chips and canapés for all guests.

The men’s fashion brand and high-street chain founded by Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has turned a profit
for the first time, six years after its launch.
Pretty Green, which has stores in the UK and Japan, hit sales of £15.1 million, up 38%, with pre-tax profits of £43,000 in 2014, compared with a £2 million loss a year earlier, according to results filed at Companies House. The strong numbers will help chief executive Richard Ralph make the case to potential investors as the company recently revealed plans to go on a fundraising drive.
The results show that growth came from both its store sales and its wholesale business, which sells through various department stores and outlets across the country.

Press/vip opening night for Sinatra: The Man & His Music live at The London Palladium.
The iconic music of Frank Sinatra is brought to life at one of the capital's most iconic venues.
‘Sinatra’ The Man & His Music will play at the London Palladium this summer, 65 years since Frank Sinatra’s first ever European concert took place at the London Palladium in July 1950.
In the centenary year of the legendary entertainer’s birth, this extraordinary new multi-media show –the only UK production with the endorsement and support of the Sinatra family and produced in association with Frank Sinatra Enterprises - features ultra-rare and original master recordings of Frank Sinatra. Using cutting edge technology and never-before-seen performance footage, the show takes us on a journey through Sinatra’s life, told by the man himself alongside personal family photographs and film.
I saw Frank Sinatra play The Royal Albert Hall in 1980.
This famous venue was totally full tonight.
This lavish show was on for around two hours over two sets.
Frank is on the big screen singing his classics and rarer songs too in 3D.
Pretty amazing how easy he made it look.
The 24 piece orchestra is raised up at the back so you could see them.
We have 20 male and female dancers who did a great job.
The second half featured some Rat Pack clips and gems including 'New York,New York'
'Fly Me To The Moon' and 'My Way'.
Overall it is a very entertaining multi-media show from start to finish that is well worth seeing.
At the end Nancy Sinatra said a few emotional words about her dad to the audience from front of stage.
www.sinatraonstage.comVisit the website for more info and to buy is on until 10 Oct.
For Sinatra I went with Sex Pistol Glen Matlock.
Glen knows Nancy Sinatra a bit as we went to her show at The Royal Festival Hall
a few years ago when Glens mate Clem Burke from Blondie was her tour drummer.
We had comp interval drinks in a room that maybe held 50 people.
We had a few words with Nancy then a few words with Steven Van Zandt from Bruce Springsteens band.I mumbled seeing him at Hammersmith Odeon in the mid 70s on their first UK shows and he seemed impressed when I asked him about his
Underground Garage radio station which he says gets 3 million listeners in America.
We also had a chat with Dave Clark from Dave Clark Five.
Also in the room was Phil Manzanera and actress Lesley Joseph.
From 10pm to 12.30pm was the big afterparty for around 500 folks at The Savoy
Hotel where all the above guests turned up.
Complimentary Jack Daniels, wines, beers and canapés for all guests.
A nice touch that Jack Daniels was here as Frank drank it back in the day
and certainly increased sales from then onwards.

Phil Rudd not helping his bad situation...
Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested on Saturday night for getting a ‘whole lotta Rosie’ after
having a party in his house while on home detention with prostitutes.
Rudd was released on bail this morning for the charges relating to violating his home detention.
He was sentenced to home detention just two weeks ago for threatening to kill and drug possession.
Rudd could face jail time if caught breaching the terms of his detention.
The 61-year old drummer was arrested at his home in Tauranga. Prostitutes were said to be at the house
but how this relates to the terms of Rudd’s current home detention sentence is uncertain.

Sunday 19 July 2015.
Live Aid in 1985 was the greatest gig of all time but July sees the anniversary of another mega gig.
Live8 in Hyde Park was 10 years ago in July 2005 and featured Pink Floyd,Madonna,Robbie Wiiliams,
Coldplay,U2,Paul McCartney and others.
The classic line-up of Pink Floyd (Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason) played together on stage for the first time in 24 years. The band performed the songs "Breathe / Breathe (Reprise)", "Money", "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb".
I also went to the rehearsals the night before in Hyde Park where Pink Floyd went through the same songs
and Madonna went through her set in front of just 300 people.

Saturday 18 July 2015.
Bette Midler live at The 02 Arena,London.
First of two shows at this venue by Bette on her 'Divine Intervention' UK arena tour.
As part of her first UK shows for 35 years.
Her American tour includes two nights at Madison Square Garden.
As expected a mainly older crowd with lots of gay folks.
One of those gigs with silly high prices of £110,£90,£75,£55 plus booking fees.
We have a nice slick stage production with big screens along with scenery changes and costume changes.
Bette and her 12 piece band and three female dancers/bvs are on stage for 1 hour 55 mins.
The setlist included lots of girlie covers from her 'It's The Girls!' album that was released last year.
Bette turns 70 later this year, but she still came onstage in a bright pink mini dress.
There was lots of very funny well scripted stage banter between songs mainly related to old age and sex.
Sometimes it felt more like a Joan Rivers type comedy show rather than a musical event.
The comic interludes were seamless. An extended routine on celebrity culture and social media (“remember the days when people feared being followed?”) featured merciless mocked up photos of Midler in compromising positions with Vladimir Putin, Jeremy Clarkson, Jamie Oliver, Margaret Thatcher and Nigel Farage – “he really knows how to ruin a bar mitzvah,” she jibed.
Her finger was on the London pulse as she joked about riding Boris bikes and the new runway planned for Heathrow.
Miss M has tried her hand at big-band swing, pop and rock over the years, and this gig reiterated her versatility. Jazz standard 'Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most' was beautifully sung, while
The Rolling Stones 'Beast Of Burden' alluded to her brief stint as a rock ’n’ roller in the Eighties.
Midler appeared in full Hocus Pocus costume for 'I Put A Spell On You' counting the ways in which she would torment us – although pledging to eliminate football from England actually won some approval from the audience – and donned a fabulous feathered creation for an uproarious tribute to
singer/comedian Sophie Tucker which gleefully combined Vegas glitz and
pure filth.
Other highlights included great versions of 'The Rose','Stay With Me' and 'Wind Beneath My Wings'
A great show that was very entertaining from start to finish but I did feel it would have been more suited
to a smaller venue like Hammersmith Apollo rather than this big venue.
Full setlist played tonight...
