Louis Vuitton for UNICEF - party at The Apartment, Louis Vuitton, 17-20 New Bond Street, London, W1.
Around 200 folks upstairs in the Apartment area of this luxury store.
I had a lovely chat with Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran who was super friendly and nice.
I talked about me working front stage security for Duran shows at Hammersmith Odeon in the 1980s
at the height of Duranmania and Nick told me who much he loves Hammersmith Odeon.
David Bowie was a big influence on Nick so he was still in shock over his death.
He said that Duran Duran had done a Canadian tour with David Bowie.
He also mentioned the many times he bumped into Lemmy in the 80s at The Embassy Club.
Nick said he was looking forward to the upcoming American Duran Duran tour.
Nick Grimshaw, Pixie Geldof and Lily Cole were on the dj decks.
Models including Billie JD Porter, Jean Campbell, Laura Bailey, Arizona Muse and Amber Le Bon

14 - opening party at 14 Leicester Square, London, WC2.
A new gentlemen's club opens in the heart of Leicester Square opposite Burger King.
It is around 200 yards up the road from rivals Platinum Lace.
Weirdly i used to visit this venue in the late 70s when it was a disco.
The venue has had a few different names over the past 35 years.
A nice buzzy vibe here with maybe 200 guests and 30 or 40 dancers.
Tonight the girls are just dancing topless in their lingerie and a few have a stage show
with fire ,big costumes , in a bubble bath etc.
They will be naked on future nights.
The club promises a female friendly venue and there are a few in the crowd tonight.
Soho club legend Philip Salon who was part of The Bromley Contingent in the punk era is here.

Country & Town House, as its fans will already know, has long been a supporter of all things British, bringing to the attention of its readers whatever is best and finest, so the notion of producing a complete supplement dedicated to celebrating all the extraordinary crafts, design, technology and manufacturing skills that are found on our islands seemed like a natural extension of all that we stand for. What we hoped was that, by showcasing the work of well over a hundred of our very best British brands, we would not only give our readers some fascinating insights into all that British industry is up to but that it would become something of a bible for the industry itself.
It is a coffee table sized book as each of the 125 brands featured has two pages about them.

As you go in the bar is on the right and the 200 cover restaurant is on the left and it's full and buzzing.

David Bowie's secret goodbye trip to UK.
Following his cancer diagnosis, it's revealed that in the summer of 2014 Bowie took wife Iman, 60, and daughter Lexi, 15, on a trip to London to visit all his childhood haunts. Iman said 'We flew in on the jet to Luton and every day we went and did different things and the press never knew. It's absurd this idea that celebrities can't be anonymous. We even went on the London Eye'.

I skipped having my nails done but the offer was there.
Then a couple of bowls of pasta from House of Godo,90 Piccadilly,London W1.
Then a browse at the stunning luxury shirts from A'Legions.
The attention to quality and detail is amazing.
At A'legions customers look smart and sophisticated even without the traditional accessories like ties and cufflinks. The use of Swarovski crystal buttons, and other elements, gives an understated sparkle and elegance, whilst the ready-to-wear double cuff solution, takes away the “faff” of a traditional double cuff, and the teaser “peel and reveal” corner cuffs offer a cheeky insight into what’s on the inside.

Shock news that music legend David Bowie has died just a couple of days after his 69th birthday.
Bowie passed away yesterday following an 18 month battle with cancer.
He released his latest album 'Blackstar' last week (January 9) on his 69th birthday.
The official statement, published on Bowie's Facebook page, reads: "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."
I saw him live around 15 times with the first time 40 years ago in 1976 at Wembley Arena.
He has kept a low public profile in New York the last 10 years and did not play any full shows in that period.
He last played live in 2006, when he appeared at a charity show in New York.
A couple of years ago i went to the opening night of his massive exhibition at The Victoria and Albert Museum.
On SKY tv his biographer Wendy Leigh said David Bowie had six heart attacks in the past year.
What with Lemmy passing away last legends dying every week it seems...who's next?.

Chelsea + Nick Cash(999)solo live at The 100 Club,London.
Tonight was part of the 10 day Resolution Festival at this venue to celebrate 40 years of punk.
A nice bill of two punk acts that were around in the punk heyday.
I have seen Chelsea around a dozen times since 1977.
I have seen 999 around 20 times since 1977.
I have a soft spot for 999 who have loads of simple catchy pop punk singles but never got the recognition
that the other punk bands got.
Tonight 999 singer Nick Cash is solo with electric guitar as their bass player is out of action due to a hip operation.
Nick takes to the stage at 8.50pm for a 45 mins set that went down really well.
Gems played included 'Inside Out','Feeling Alright With The Crew','Boiler','Obsessed','Emergency'
'Nasty Nasty' and 'Homicide'.
Nick played a couple of Johnny Thunders covers 'Pirate Love' and 'Born To Lose' and got a bit emotional
when talking about how many punk rockers like Johnny,The Ramones and others have passed away.
Chelsea take to the stage at 9.50pm for a 50 mins set.
They are fired up and whizz through loads of uptempo nuggets.
Setlist included 'How Do You Know','The Loner','No Flowers','War Across The Nation','Urban Kids',
'Evacuate' and their classic debut single 'Right To Work'...a really good set.

I saw her live in concert in 1988,1989 and 1994.

Friday 01 January 2016.
Blur and Gorillaz star Damon Albarn has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal for services to music. The singer/songwriter joins the likes of Universal Music UK Chair and CEO David Joseph and actors James Nesbitt, Idris Elba, David Oyelowo, Barbara Windsor and Imelda Staunton among those saluted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Bryan Adams live at Central Hall,Westminster,London.
Bryan Adams plays a NYE show across the road from Big Ben.
Tickets are £100 each and include two drinks vouchers.
This is the same 2000 capacity event where last year i saw Queen + Adam Lambert.
Most of the show will be live on BBC1 tv.
I have seen Bryan Adams over 20 times since 1985 including headline shows at Wembley Stadium in
1992 and 1996.
Like the Queen show last year it was a good advert by promoters Live Nation to flog a few more tickets
for follow up shows as Bryan Adams plays a full UK arena tour in May 2016.
It is a late start late finish here as it is a NYE gig.
I get to the venue at 10.30pm and most folks are already inside.
I pick up my ticket and two drinks vouchers for a bottle of beer and a glass of wine in the huge bar area.
At 11pm i go into the main room.
It is a great venue to see a band in although it does have its drawbacks tonight.
The floor standing area is rammed like last year as the tv cameras have taken up so much space.
Maybe 15 rows are squashed in like sardines and latecomers get a dodgy view at the sides.
Folks have to stand for over an hour like statues shoulder to shoulder in the middle section.
Not much fun when the BBC lights are blaring down at you.
I have a fantastic front row balcony dead centre seat in the vip reserved area for guests of the BBC,
promoters Live Nation and the band.
I am sitting next to the Live Nation rep for Bryan Adams who also looks after The Download Festival.
I mention to him that Black Sabbath or KISS would be great here for the next NYE show.
Bryan and the band arrive on stage all wearing jackets instead of their usual t-shirts.
There is a big screen showing live footage.
Like last year with Queen,Bryan Adams plays a much shorter set than usual.
It works out to a measly 60 mins on stage over two sets of 25 mins and 35 mins.
If i had paid £100 for a ticket I would feel well cheated for sure.
Lots of great simple catchy pop rock songs played that everyone can singalong too.
British soul singer Beverley Knight joins Bryan for a song and looks and sounds great.
Overall a great show but way too short for punters who had paid good money to be here.

Bay City Rollers + Dirty Harry live at Hammersmith Apollo,London.
Scottish boy band who were massive in the 1970s re-unite with three original members.
This was the last show on the tour after dates in Glasgow,Edinburgh and Manchester.
They had ten Top 10 hits in the UK including two that topped the charts in the 1970s.
In their heyday The Bay City Rollers were to tartan what Status Quo were to denim.
The band rose to fame producing numerous top-10 hits, sellout tours and their own TV show before splitting in 1978, with bitter battles over money between band members and managers dragging on for decades.
Singer Les McKeown has been performing as “Bay City Rollers Starring Les McKeown,” who I have seen
a couple of times.
I pick up my seat is Stalls H13...exactly the same seat where i first saw KISS at this venue in 1976.
Up first we have Dirty Harry who are a Blondie tribute act from Scotland.
They play a good 35 mins set of Blondie gems that went down well with the crowd.
The singer had some skimpy outfits and thigh high boots that looked the part.
During the interval 1970s classics are played over the PA and there is a great party atmosphere.
Bay City Rollers are on stage for 85 mins.
We have a big screen showing great videos and photos from their 1970s heyday.
The crowd stand up and rush down the front of stage from the start.
Their setlist was a great mix of all their hits,a few covers and even a new track was played.
During the show singer Les said "It's great to be back at this venue".
They headlined here a few times in the mid 1970s.
Back then as i lived 15 mins walk away i popped along to see what the Rollermania fuss was all about.
Screaming teenage girls wearing tartan everywhere, lots of police, barriers and overall pretty chaotic.
The girls are more middle aged now but there is still some screaming and plenty of tartan being worn.
I would say as expected maybe 90% females making up the crowd tonight.
Les teases the crowd asking "how many of you lay in your bedroom in the 70s staring at posters of us?".
The crowd are singing along to all the songs and the tartan scarfs are being waved.
Les shakes hands non-stop with girls down the front.
A new album will be out for Mothers Day and i would imagine more UK shows later in 2016.
A really enjoyable show and the BCR comeback was a total success.
Full setlist played tonight...

After a couple of years of rumours looks like it will happen.
Axl Rose will reunite Guns N Roses with Slash and Duff McKagan to headline Coachella in 2016.
Billboard reports that the band will headline the two weekends of Coachella on April in Indio, California.
A 25 date North American tour is expected to be announced soon as well.
Guns N Roses dropped their first official hint of a reunion on their website last week and had a cryptic trailer
running in movie theatres in the USA with the ‘Stars Wars’ movie.
The last show Slash played with Guns N Roses was on July 17, 1993 at River Plate in Buenos Aires.
They would be perfect as headliners for Reading/Leeds Festivals.
Looks like that the rest of the band will be Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Dizzy Reed and
not Matt Sorum, Steve Adler and Izzy Stradlin.
Adler and Stradlin played on the first GNR album ‘Appetite For Destruction’ in 1986. Dizzy Reed and
Matt Sorum surfaced for the ‘Use Your Illusion’ albums in 1991.

Another sad death to report.
John 'Brad' Bradbury, drummer of Two Tone group The Specials, has died at the age of 62.
The news was announced by the band via Twitter.
It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our great friend, the world's greatest drummer, our beloved Brad. RIP.
Bradbury's family said in a statement, "It is with deepest regret that we have to announce the very sad news that our much loved husband and father John "Brad" Bradbury passed away on Monday the 28th of December.
"Brad's drumming was the powerhouse behind The Specials and it was seen as a key part to the Two Tone sound. He was much respected in the world of drumming and his style of reggae and ska was seen as genuinely ground breaking when The Specials first hit the charts in 1979.
"He was an integral part of The Specials reforming in 2008 and toured with them extensively up to the present day. His contribution to the world of music can not be understated and he will much missed by family, friends and fans alike. It is the family's sincerest wish that they are allowed the time to remember him privately."
The Specials were another band I have seen over 20 times with the first time in 1978 supporting The Clash.

A bonafide rock legend passes away....Lemmy...
I suppose it had to happen sooner or later given the health problems he had over the past two years.
Some would say "how did he manage to get to age 70 given all the rock n roll excess he enjoyed".
Motorhead singer Lemmy Kilmister, whose gravelly vocals and bass playing helped define the British heavy metal sound of the 1970s and '80s, has died at the age of 70.
Born December 24, 1945, Kilmister played bass with space rock pioneers Hawkwind before forming Motorhead in 1975.
His death was confirmed on the band's official Facebook page.
"There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th... We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren't words," the post read.
Kilmister's death comes just a month after former Motörhead drummer Phil Taylor passed away at 61.
I saw Lemmy with Motörhead over 40 times since 1975.
So many amazing Motörhead shows at Hammersmith Odeon in their 1980s heyday.
Dig out your Motörhead albums in tribute and PLAY LOUD.

Lots of events and tv specials over the past week for the 100th birthday of Frank Sinatra.
Frank passed away in 1998.
I saw Frank Sinatra live in 1980 at The Royal Albert Hall.

Basketball legend sadly passes away.
Meadowlark Lemon, the “clown prince” of basketball’s barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters, whose blend of hook shots and humor brought joy to millions of fans around the world, has died. He was 83.
Lemon’s wife and daughter confirmed to the team that he died Sunday in Scottsdale, Arizona. Globetrotters spokesman
Brett Meister said Monday. Meister did not know the cause of death.
Though skilled enough to play professionally, Lemon instead wanted to entertain, his dream of playing for the Globetrotters hatched after watching a newsreel of the all-black team at a cinema house when he 11.
Lemon ended up becoming arguably its most popular player, a showman known as much for his confetti-in-the-water-bucket routine and slapstick comedy as his half-court hook shots and no-look, behind-the-back passes.
A sign of his crossover appeal, Lemon was inducted to both the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the
International Clown Hall of Fame.
“My destiny was to make people happy,” Lemon said as he was inducted into the basketball hall
as a contributor to the game in 2003.
Lemon played for the Globetrotters during the team’s heyday from the mid-1950s to the late-1970s, delighting fans with his skills with a ball and a joke. Traveling by car, bus, train or plane nearly every night, Lemon covered nearly 4 million miles to play in over 100 countries and in front of popes and presidents, kings and queens. Known as the “Clown Prince of Basketball,” he averaged 325 games per year during his prime, that luminous smile never dimming.

Just in case you have never came across this great website dedicated to the legendary Scottish venue
The Glasgow Apollo that ran from 1973 to 1985.
Many major acts played there as the bands i saw at Hammersmith Odeon back then would also include
playing The Glasgow Apollo on their UK tour.
Also listed are shows played there under its previous name of Greens Playhouse.
