Thursday 18 August 2016...I went to FOUR events tonight...
4.15pm to 6pm
VEGANUARY 2017 - launch party - Tibits, 12-14 Heddon Street, London, W1.
We are at this popular vegetarian and vegan restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining.
Guests here included Peter Tatchell and tv presenter Jasmine Harman.
This January thousands of people will join the Veganuary campaign, stepping up to the challenge of
giving veganism a go for 31 days after the Christmas excess period.
Traditionally the vegan message has been focused on ending cruelty to animals, but veganism achieves much more. There are many health and environmental benefits to be found in adopting meat-reductionist diets and thinking more about what we eat. With Veganuary we wanted to take a relaxed, non-judgmental approach, asking people to take part whatever their motivation.
The goal is to provide a supportive stepping stone towards adopting a vegan diet for January,
and hopefully to shift the diets and perceptions of thousands of people.
We had a nice presentation and guests enjoyed wines, healthy juices and a tasty vegan food buffet from Tibits.
All guests got a nice goodie bag stuffed with vegan treats.

then
6.15pm to 6.45pm
Clarisse D'Arcimloes : Forgotten Tale : private view - The Photographers' Gallery, 16 - 18 Ramillies St, London W1.
Performance and Photography is the heart of Clarisse d'Arcimoles' , a French artist currently based in London.
Forgotten Tale combines photography and set design. In the gallery space d'Arcimoles recreates a scene from a found photograph of an East End Slum which she found at Bishopsgate Institute which was very impressive.
Complimentary presecco, wines and beers for all guests.
www.tpg.org.ukVisit their website for more info.
then
7pm to 9.30pm
Jake Wood-Evans : Subjection & Discipline : private view - Unit London,147 Wardour Street,London W1.
New gallery space owned by two 26 year olds from West London....Joe Kennedy and Jonny Burt .
This was a solo exhibition from Jake Wood-Evans that is on here until 11 Sept 2016.
Faces are defiled and figures appear as apparitions. Subjects range from a ghostly vision of a society lady to a fading portrait of a once proud general and grotesquely disfigured admiral. Viewed together, the body of work is eerily reminiscent of an art collection of a great estate in the early years of the British Empire, but while the haunting redactions of once-heroic subjects might suggest the correcting gaze of a postcolonial sensibility, Wood-Evans’ interest lies more with the original artists and process than with the specific subject. With a strong focus on craftsmanship, his work draws inspiration from a diverse range of Baroque and Old Master figurative painters.
The gallery is super cool with subdued lighting and an edgy feel.
A great vibe as around 200 guests here are enjoying a choice of three complimentary cocktails including
Tom Collins,Nyetimber English Sparkling Wines and other wines which were served by staff from HIX.
A nice surprise to see dj Gary Crowley here.
www.theunitldn.comVisit their website for more info.
then
9.45pm to 10.15pm.
Prodigal Fox celebrity collections - launch party - DSTRKT, 9 Rupert Street, London, W1.
The girls from Love Island were hosting tonight looking very glamourous.
There was some friendly competition last night between Love Island 's Katie Salmon and close pal Jessica Hayes as they turned up at the launch of their fashion range - in the same dress - but different colours.
The scantily-clad BFFs put everything on display in the matching flesh-flashing ensembles that managed to
reveal a whole lot of leg and cleavage.
Love Island's Olivia Buckland, Cally Jane Beech and Rachel Fenton turned up to support their co-stars.
Also here was Lizzie Cundy.
Drinks were a bit tame as each guest got one token for a glass of wine but there was a goodie bag.
We left before the catwalk show started.

Wednesday 17 August 2016.
20 years ago today in 1996 i saw KISS headline Monsters Of Rock Festival at Donington Park.
It was the debut UK show on their first world tour with all four original members since 1979.
In 1979 i saw them in Chicago on that tour...with Judas Priest as the support act.
Later in 1996 I would see all three UK arena shows at Birmingham,Manchester and London.

Tuesday 16 August 2016.
John Lydon hit by bottle at a gig in Chile at the weekend.
Public Image Ltd. performed at a club called Blondie in Santiago, Chile. During the show, John Lydon was struck by a bottle.
Internet footage shows the aftermath of the moment when Lydon’s head and shirt were covered in blood. “What a fucking coward,” Lydon said to the crowd, apparently referring to the person who threw a bottle at him. Then, after wrapping the towel around his bleeding head, he announced, “We continue!” There’s also footage of him performing later in the show while re-wrapping the towel around his head. Lydon tweeted three photos from the show with the message, “Glass attack last night in Chile. No reflection on the rest of the crowd. Great gig. It lives.”

Saturday 13 August 2016...9.30pm show...
Louis C.K. live at Hammersmith Apollo,London.
Very popular at home American comedian Louis C.K. is playing shows in London.
As part of his European Tour.
Fri 12 Aug---Wembley Arena
Sat 13 Aug---Hammersmith Apollo (2 shows - 7pm and 9.30pm)
14 Aug---Hammersmith Apollo
Louis C.K. has released nine comedy albums in his career and sold tv specials directly via his website.
He is known for his use of observational, self-deprecating, dark and vulgar humour.
His upcoming American tour features three shows at Madison Square Garden in September.
In January 2015 he became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden three times within the same tour.
His Edinburgh Festival show a couple of days ago was reviewed by many of the daily newspapers and got
some good reviews including 5 stars from The London Standard.
In the words of Chris Rock "The blackest white guy i know".
------------------------------
The venue is totally rammed sold out tonight.
Pretty amazing how popular Louis is over here even though he has never been on mainstream British tv.
His recent series you have to buy via his website but some YouTube clips are very funny.
A warning over the pa before the show starts says "No Filming,No Photos ...and even No Shouting/Heckling".
Security folks are keen on making sure nobody tries anything.
First up we have three American comedians performing short sets of 6 mins each to warm the crowd up.
Louis C.K. arrives on stage to massive applause and cheers for his 75 mins set.
Now age 48 Louis nonchalantly strolls on stage and gives us his thoughts on things.
He rants on ISIS,Suicide,Abortion,Family Life,Kids,Divorce,Relationships,Considering Being Gay,
The Legend Of Achilles,Rescue Dogs, Male Strippers,Race,Capitalism
and reluctantly meeting your spouse in the afterlife.
A couple of the rants I had seen up on YouTube.
A very enjoyable funny show that got a full standing ovation at the end.

Saturday 13 August 2016....another sad death to report...
Music biz veteran David Enthoven has sadly passed away.
Robbie Williams has paid tribute to his long-term manager, David Enthoven, who has died at the age of 72.
"My Friend, Mentor and Hero passed away today," tweeted the singer. "David Enthoven, I love you. RIP."
Enthoven had managed the star since he left Take That in 1996 and helped him battle addiction in the early years of his career.
The music mogul started out managing King Crimson in 1969, also steering the careers of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music.
He even advised Marc Bolan's band, T. Rex, to shorten their name, because he couldn't spell Tyrannosaurus.

Friday 12 August 2016.
Congratulations to The Blossoms.
Indie pop group Blossoms have gone straight in at Number 1 today with their debut album.
The Stockport band have enjoyed airplay and Record of the Week status on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6 Music which has helped the five-piece steamroll the competition. Tom, Charlie, Josh, Joe and Myles finished 9,500 copies ahead of their nearest rival to take their self-titled album to the top spot.

Thursday 11 August 2016.
MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS live at The Hippodrome Casino,London.
Original Motown legend, now aged 75 is back in London.
They scored a few hit singles in the UK between 1964 and 1972 including "Come and Get These Memories",
"Nowhere to Run", " (Love Is Like A )Heat Wave", "Jimmy Mack", and their signature "Dancing In The Street".
---------------------------------
I saw Martha play a really good show at Brooklyn Bowl in Dec 2014 but tonight it is even better.
Maybe it's because of the room which is a cosy and plush cabaret type lounge club that holds
around just 200 with seats and standing and everyone has a perfect close to the stage view.
Martha took to the stage at 8pm and was on for 1 hour 45 mins.
The three girls were backed by eight musicians including a four piece brass section.
The sound was perfect throughout the show.
Martha entered the stage wearing a huge feathered creation on her head.
They played all their best tracks along with a few classic soul covers.
Lots of very entertaining chat between songs that took up maybe 25% of the show.
A punter gave them a bottle of champers in a ice bucket and poured out three glasses for the girls.
Hugely enjoyable show.
Highlights of the set included...
(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher (Jackie Wilson cover)
Come and Get These Memories
Nowhere to Run
Jimmy Mack
Something (The Beatles cover)
My Baby Loves Me
Watch Your Back
(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave
What's Going On (Marvin Gaye cover)
Dancing in the Street
Encore:
Dancing in the Street (reprise) (with soul covers medley in the middle)

Held at The Odeon,Leicester Square,London WC2.

6pm---host presenter Alex Zane introduces Ricky Gervais to the crowd.
He also then interviews other cast members who then do the red carpet interviews.
A few other celebs here including Keith Chegwin,Marin Kemp,Les Dennis and Katie Piper.
David Brent's big screen outing, following him after he's made redundant from Wernham Hogg.
Film shot in a similar mockumentary style to the hit BBC series 'The Office'.
There will be plenty of 'The Office ' and 'Spinal Tap' type humour in the film.
The clips shown on the big screen tonight were very funny and the tunes had great comedy lyrics.
His band David Brent & Foregone Conclusion feature in the film and played four songs live tonight from 7pm.
The band include ex Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows.
The set included his ode to Slough where he worked when in The Office ,with the lyrics
saying it is better than how it is usually portrayed.

The album was nominated for the 2015 Mercury Music Prize.
I saw them last year at a festival but better to see them in this intimate venue.
They arrive on stage at 9.30pm and are on stage for 65 mins.
Very lively down the front as the drummer takes his shirt off after the first song as he sweats buckets.
They played the album tracks along with a couple of brand new tracks.
They played their new single 'Spit It Out'.
Loads of great crunching rock tunes with security trying to keep folks off the stage.
For the last song a full stage invasion engulfed the stage.

You can't make it up..
Divisions at the heart of Britain’s elite athletics team have been laid bare after it emerged that the governing body paid for a handful of Olympians to fly to Rio in business class based on their chances of winning a medal.
A number of athletes in Team GB were said to be disappointed after learning that they were in economy class of their BA flight to Rio last Saturday while others were upgraded by British Athletics.

Sunday 31 July 2016.
My old mucker Pat Gilbert has finally got his website up and running and updated.
Pat writes for MOJO and Q music magazines.
Read his great blog on his trip last year to New York to interview Keith Richards.
A great combination of the interview itself and the loneliness of an overseas solo press trip.
These trips were common back in the heyday of the music papers but budget cuts and the
internet have cut them back but it's good there is still the odd one or two going on.

Saturday 30 July 2016.
A reminder to look after your phone when on holiday.
A crime wave has been sweeping popular European travel destinations in recent years, in which organised gangs set up premium rate phone lines before mugging unsuspecting tourists and using their phones to run up huge bills by calling these numbers and then taking a cut of the charges.
MoneySavingExpert.com spoke to one victim who was billed almost £6,000 after his phone was robbed at knife-point and he has been chased for payment by Vodafone for the past 18 months. It was only after MoneySavingExpert got involved that Vodafone finally agreed to waive the charge.

I saw them last year supporting The Scorpions at The Ramblin' Man Festival,Maidstone.
This special night at the Kentish Town Forum which is BÖC's first gig in London since 2008, will feature the band's original core members Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (guitar, vocals) and Eric Bloom (guitar, keyboards, vocals), with a very special guest appearance from co-founding member Albert Bouchard (percussion, guitar, vocals) who was instrumental in writing the early material.
I did not see their last London show at The Forum on 11 June 2008 as it was the same night i went to see
The Sex Pistols play a small warm up show at The Birmingham Academy.
A sad death this week related to Blue Oyster Cult.
Producer and manager Sandy Pearlman, who worked with artists like Blue Oyster Cult, the Clash and the Dictators, has died in the aftermath of a cerebral hemorrhage that he suffered in December. He was 72. His friend, Robert Duncan, wrote on Facebook: Sandy Pearlman, poet, writer, songwriter, producer, manager, professor, polymath, visionary, passed peacefully.
-----------------------------------
When i saw B.O.C. at Ramblin' Man last year they played a 60 mins set in daylight as a support act but
tonight it is much better as we have a rammed solid venue with a full headline show indoors to hardcore fans.
As expected the crowd is mainly middle aged men like myself.
The band take the stage at 8.30pm and were on stage for a nice lengthy 2 hours 25 mins over two sets.
They played the 'Agents of Fortune' album in full as the first set followed by a set of their best tracks.
Their biggest hit ' (Don't Fear ) The Reaper ' is played early on in the show.
The band is nice and tight even though it could have been a bit louder like the old days.
Both guitarists played some great solos throughout the show.
A great show.

Pixie Lott is in the lead role that was played by Audrey Hepburn in the classic film.
Pixie Lott is an English singer, songwriter and actress. Her debut single, "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)",
was released in 2009 and went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart.
Her second single, "Boys and Girls", also topped the UK chart in September 2009.
Lott's debut album, Turn It Up, was released in September 2009. It reached number six on the UK Albums Chart, spawned five consecutive top twenty singles, and sold over 1.5 million copies.
Pixie Lott, Matt Barber, Victor McGuire, Charlie De Melo, Richard Greenberg, are cast as Mama Do singer (Lott) makes her acting debut as Holly Golightly in Truman Capote's classic, adapted by Greenberg. Co-production with the Curve Theatre. Nikolai Foster directs.
The show runs for two sets of 75 mins and 60 mins.
Always nice to be at this stunning theatre which is one of the oldest in The West End.
Pixie Lott does a really good job in the lead role.
I lost count of the amount of costume changes Pixie went through ,not to mention her being naked in the bath.
There is a fluffy white cat in a few scenes that is uncannily well behaved.
A highlight is Pixie alone with an acoustic guitar performing the classic "Moon River".
The production could have done with a couple more songs to be honest.
An enjoyable night at the theatre.
Here from July 01 until September 17, 2016.
Breakfast at Tiffany's was received positively at the time in 1961 when the film was released , and won two
Academy Awards: Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "Moon River".

BARON WOLMAN : Woodstock - private view - Proud Camden, Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1.
Around 100 folks here at this gallery.
A few folks here I know including Gary Lammin ex Cock Sparrer and now with The Bermondsey Joyriders.
Baron Wolman is still alive at age 79 but has opted to stay in America for the opening.
Complimentary prosecco and Corona beers for all guests
Wolman was at the inception of Rolling Stone magazine, capturing icons of the 60s and 70s, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Rolling Stones. His candid and evocative photographs of Woodstock offer a rare insight into this illustrious event, capturing the true essence of the celebrated rock ‘n’ roll festival. He would venture to the outskirts of the festival, taking photographs of the audiences and their leisure activities away from the music, explaining that “I ended up spending most of my time out in the wild with the crowd because what was happening out there was just too interesting not to explore.” Wolman gives us a vivid and honest view, documenting not only the music and performances but also the cultural and political aspects of people protesting against the war, animal killings and government.
The exhibition is on until 11 Sept 2016.

ORANGINA : Shake La Vie - launch party - Jewel, 4-6 Glasshouse Street, London, W1.
A young buzzing crowd of around 150 folks here.
Guests included Hugo Taylor,Oliver Proudlock,Jessica Wright and all girl act Stooshe.
Orangina is quintessentially French and was first produced in 1936.
Orangina's popularity derives both from its unique flavor and from the design of its 25 cl (8 oz) bottle made in the shape of a pear with a pebbly texture meant to recall the peel of an orange or other citrus fruit.
Larger bottles also include the pebbly texture but use a more regular bottle shape rather than maintaining
the proportions of the smaller bottles.
Downstairs we have a dj playing in the background and there is a magician and contortionists performing.
Upstairs there was a bongo player and a sax player.
We have a choice of six complimentary cocktails with all featuring Orangina in them.
My fave was the one mixing Aperol/Martell Cognac/Orangina which went down a treat.
Also some hot and cold canapés.
