RYAN ADAMS + KAREN ELSON live at The Royal Albert Hall,London.
Ryan Adams (not to be confused with Bryan Adams ) plays a sold out show at The Royal Albert Hall
Ryan Adams sixteenth studio album 'Prisoner' picked up rave reviews, ahead of his return to the Hall.
He is a 42 year old prolific singer-songwriter in the alternative country rock vein.
Before the support played and during the interval it was all AC/DC classic tracks over the PA.
Support act KAREN ELSON arrived on stage with her band at 7.50pm for a 40 mins set.
She is a singer-songwriter and model who was born in Manchester.
Decent enough songs that went down well with the crowd.
Elson has two children, Scarlett Teresa and Henry Lee, with former husband Jack White (White Stripes etc).
RYAN ADAMS and his great band arrived on stage at 9pm and played for two hours.
Lots of nice keyboard and guitar sounds through the evening.
There are 16 tv screens on stage as part of the stage production.
I have seen Ryan live a couple of times before but I only know a couple of his songs.
I prefer his rock side to the mid paced material.
Karen Elson came on stage for backing vocals on a couple of songs.
A good show.

They are appealing to the over 25s here and the crowd here reflect that.
Some very nice comp Whiskey Sour cocktails and Vodka Cocktails here along with some tasty canapés.

LATER WITH JOOLS HOLLAND - 25th anniversary show - live at The Royal Albert Hall,London.
Jools Holland brings his iconic music television show to the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate 25 years,
50 series and over 360 programmes on BBC Two.
Featuring a typically eclectic blend of signature artists including major stars, legends, artists of the moment and brand new talents across genres from rock ‘n’ roll to jazz and all points in between, this multi-artist show will be filmed in the round, filling the Hall’s main stage and floor with artists in the style of the Later… studio as seen on TV.
The show will feature old friends of the show and some new ones – Foo Fighters, Paul Weller, Van Morrison, Dizzee Rascal, KT Tunstall, Gregory Porter, Kali Uchis, Camille, Songhoy Blues and Jorja Smith.
The venue is totally sold out tonight and they have done an amazing job of recreating the tv studio as
a couple of acts are set up on the main stage and the rest are on the arena floor around the edges.
Most of the crowd seem to be Foo Fighters fans as they are the big name headliner attraction tonight.
The show was on for two hours 15 mins over two sets of 75 mins and 60 mins.
Just like on tv each band played a song then straight to the next act and so on.
FOO FIGHTERS played five songs including two mega oldies that were a big highlight.
The Line
The Sky Is a Neighbourhood
All My Life
La Dee Da
Times Like These

NINA NAUSTDAL & TRESOR PARIS - AW 2017/2018 - The Playboy Club, 14 Old Park Lane,London W1.
Today was the last day of London Fashion Week.
Nina Naustdal started her brand with her Haute-Couture collection made from Italian silk and hand-applied Swarovski crystals. In addition to the Italian silk Naustdal now uses a variety of fabrics such as lace and chiffon.
Nina Naustdal's designs are influenced by her brand philosophy: "Normal is boring". Her design philisophy is to create luxurious, feminine clothes for women who want to stand out.
Although primarily focused on womenswear, the label also produces a collection for little boys and girls with both couture and ready-to-wear lines.
More than just a fashion brand, Nina Naustdal describes her brand as a "lifestyle brand". Her aim is to make a woman feel at her best and to compliment each body through feminine and flattering designs.
She takes inspiration from precious stones to create collections that feature glamourous cocktail dresses and gowns in fluid, jewel-toned Italian silks covered with hand-applied Swarovski crystals or hand embroidery.
Over 200 guests in this iconic venue with half a dozen Playboy Bunnies floating around.
Lots of glamorous women dressed up nicely for all the photographers here.
A great buzzy atmosphere here with a dj playing club sounds in the background.
Nina Naustdal is here looking stunning in one of her own creations.
Girl about town Lizzie Cundy was the host and her friend Jackie St Clair was also here.
At 8.05pm we had a female soul singer perform a couple of tracks.
At 8.15pm we had the fashion show for around 25 mins.

Rolling Stone magazine up for sale.
Almost 50 years after being launched in San Francisco, the owners of Rolling Stone have put the magazine up for sale amid financial difficulties. The music and culture magazine was founded by Jann Wenner in 1967 when he was a 21 year old student in California. Wenner still runs the title with his son Gus, president of the family publishing company, and the pair have announced plans to sell, saying 'There's a level of ambition that we can't achieve alone'.

Monday 18 September 2017.
NEIL SEDAKA + JACK LUKEMAN live at The Royal Albert Hall,London.
Music legend now aged 78 has had a 60 year career in the music industry.
In the late 1950's and early 1960's Neil was a songwriter at the famous Brill Building in New York
Many of the composers there went on to further success as part of the singer-songwriter movement
in the 1960s and 1970s.
He has written or co-written more than 600 songs.
Neil is on a UK tour to promote his 2016 album 'I Do It For Applause'.
I first saw him play in 1975 at Hammersmith Odeon on the back of many comeback hit singles.
JACK LUKEMAN arrived on stage and played for 25 mins.
Tonight's support act is well known at home in Ireland but pretty unknown in England.
He has also had a decent amount of success in America.
He has had a career for over 20 years with many albums released.
Jack Lukeman has performed over the years supporting or alongside U2, Ronnie Wood,
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, John Lee Hooker, Elvis Costello, Jools Holland, and Marianne Faithfull.
He has a powerful voice that the crowd loved and was a perfect example of how to win over
a crowd that do not know who you are.
NEIL SEDAKA arrived on stage at 8.20pm and played for 1 hour 50 mins.
Just Neil and his grand piano tonight.
A big screen showing live footage including close ups of his piano playing.
He played all his best known songs which were great.
He told stories between songs which I had heard before.
He said for the period 1958 to 1963 he sold 40 million records...then The Beatles came along.
In 1964, Sedaka's career began a sharp decline, hastened by The Beatles' arrival on the radio and TV, and the rest of the so-called British Invasion. When describing the Beatles' effect on his career in the mid-1960s, Sedaka put it brusquely: "The Beatles—not good!"
In the 1970s after a quiet decade he was was signed by Elton Johns Rocket Records and started having hits again.
An enjoyable show.
Full setlist played tonight...

TEXAS + HIGH TRE live at The Royal Albert Hall,London.
Texas play The Royal Albert Hall as part of a full 21 date UK tour.
Texas have sold 35 million records and they have had thirteen UK top ten singles, three UK number one albums and eight UK top ten albums, including their ninth studio album, 'Jump on Board ' which was released in May 2017.
I have seen them a couple of times in the past.
Support act HIGH TRE played a short 25 mins set.
This synth pop duo had a few catchy simple tunes.
They played a decent cover of 'Boys Don't Cry' by The Cure.
The venue is totally full by the time Texas take to the stage.
TEXAS arrived on stage at 8.30pm and played a full two hour set.
A nice stage production with loads of lights and three glitter balls used on some songs.
The floor seats are up and dancing from the start.
Singer Sharleen Spiteri was the ringmaster tonight as she took over the stage.
Sharleen said the band have now been going for 32 years and this was their third time playing this venue.
Sharleen still has a full Scottish accent despite living in London for the last 26 years.
Sharleen still has that 'Tomboy' attitude with plenty of swearing between songs.
A well paced set where the last 40 mins was really good as the big hits kicked in.
A nice surprise for the encore as the band were joined by fellow Glasgow lass CLARE GROGAN from
ALTERED IMAGES who helped out on a couple of hits including an Altered Images golden oldie.
Altered Images had a few hits in the early 1980s and they included Johnny McElhone who would join
Texas when Altered Images split and is still in Texas.
Clare also had a starring role in the 1981 film 'Gregory's Girl'.
Texas are one of those bands that are much better live than on record.
A very enjoyable show.

Sad news that actor Harry Dean Stanton had passed away, aged 91.
His agent confirmed that he died of natural causes at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
After a two decade long career of small film appearances, Stanton eventually got his big break in a leading role as in 1984’s ‘Paris, Texas’, at the age of 58.
He played Travis Henderson, a lost, dishevelled man who wanders around the desert, having seemingly no idea who he is.
Other roles include ‘Pretty In Pink’, ‘Repo Man’ and ‘Alien’, as well as his role as Carl Rodd in ‘Twin Peaks’.
Director David Lynch led the tributes, issuing a statement via HBO, saying: “There went a great one.”

Friday 15 September 2017.
T.Rextasy - Marc Bolan 40th Anniversary Celebration live at Shepherds Bush Empire,London.
This show was sold out three months ago.
T.Rex producer Tony Visconti will be conducting the Dirty Pretty Strings.
Special guests include Marc Bolan's fellow band member from John's Children: Andy Ellison, original T. Rex Saxophonist Howie Casey ,Marc Almond,Glen Matlock, Steve Harley ,Steve Norman,Neal X and others.
Marc Bolan died in a car crash on 16 Sept 1977 in Barnes, South West London.
Would be good time to visit again the tribute that is there at the crash spot.
I have seen T.Rextasy over 20 times over the past 25 years as they are a top notch tribute band.
This included their 20th anniverasy gig for Marc Bolan in 1997 when they were joined by Micky Finn.
I saw T.Rex last ever London show at The Rainbow in 1977 where The Damned were the support band.
Drummer Bill Legend is the only surviving member of the 1970–1973 classic T. Rex line-up.
Bolan (in 1977) and Currie (in 1981) both died in car crashes, and Finn succumbed to illness in 2003.
I named my first son Marc after Marc Bolan with the same spelling.
In the early 1970's T.Rex were definitely my fave glam rock band before punk rock came along in 1976.
Lots of fans here wearing 70's type Marc Bolan glam rock clothing including feather boas.
I also saw Marc's elder brother Harry go in before the start of the show.
The show was on for a nice long 2 hours 30 mins over two sets of 60 mins and 90 mins.
It is totally rammed solid inside the venue with a great atmosphere....We up are in Level 1.
T.Rextasy are pretty much the house band and guest singers come and go through the evening.
Danielz as the Marc Bolan look-alike/sound-alike does an amazing job of keeping Marc's legacy alive.
Tony Visconti conducted the four females of Dirty Little Strings and played bass on a few songs.
Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet takes the place of Micky Finn on bongos.
Neal X ex Sigue Sigue Sputnik played guitar on a few songs.
Nice to see some classic Marc Bolan video footage on the big screen.
Really great to hear those classic T.Rex songs excellent evening.
ANDY ELLISON was with Marc in John's Children before T.Rex.
I also saw him with Jet and Radio Stars in the mid 1970s.
He is in good shape for someone in his early 70s and takes his top off later.
STEVE HARLEY from Cockney Rebel sings in the first set and second set.
T.Rextasy play London Boys.
HOLLY JOHNSON ex singer of Frankie Goes To Hollywood sang Ride A White Swan and Metal Guru.

The fragrance is for men and women.
Exclusive to Liberty London, Bella Freud's Psychoanalysis eau de parfum is the olfactory result of obsessive romantic love; of your happiness being held in the hands of another. A love that is immediately satisfying yet unfulfilled, confronted by elements of comfort - like the reassurance of a comfy leather couch, and the familiarity of cigars and orange blossom which open the mind and heart.
Capturing the poetic vulnerability and acute awareness of a therapeutic encounter, this fresh and delicate fragrance blends intelligent top notes of neroli and petitgrain with warm, atmospheric tobacco flower, grounded by deep, dense resins and a base accord of cedarwood, dry amber and heady musks.

Around 100 smartly dressed upmarket guests here at this gallery.
NICK MASON from Pink Floyd was here. I congratulated him on the excellent Pink Floyd exhibition

Lord Charles March began his career publishing picture in Harper’s Bazaar, Queen, and Italian Vogue and working on campaigns for De Beers, Levi’s and Marks & Spencer among others. In the 2002 he turned to landscape photography and has experimented with the abstraction of landscape and impressionistic photography to evoke unexpected nostalgia.

GIORGIO LOCATELLI - 'Made at Home' - book launch party at The Italian Embassy,

Around 200 guests at this stunning Embassy building with its marble staircase.
A lot of Italians here and a great buzzy atmosphere.
Fellow Italian chefs Vittorio Brignoli and Antonio Carluccio joined Giorgio Locatelli at the Italian Embassy in London as the acclaimed cook launched his latest recipe book with his VIP supporters by his side. Harry Enfield, Jay Jopling, Janet Street-Porter, Tom Parker Bowles and Fay Ripley were among fans of the chef and his Michelin starred London restaurant, Locanda Locatelli, to join The Big Family Cooking Showdown judge in Grosvenor Square as Pasquale Q Terracciano, the Italian ambassador to the UK, hosted a party for the release of Made at Home, a collection recipes that Locatelli loves to prepare for family and friends.
Also here was chef and restaurant owner Fergus Henderson.
A nice surprise to see ex The Clash bass player PAUL SIMONON here.
I had a great chat with VINCE POWER (live music legend who has owned many live music venues).
I went to many great gigs at his venues in the 1990s including The Mean Fiddler,Subterania,
Jazz Cafe and others...I think he also promoted The Sex Pistols at Finsbury Park in 1996.
In 2005 he sold The Mean Fiddler Group for £38m.
For the past three years he has owned Nell's in West Kensington.
Complimentary prosecco, gin n tonics, wines ,beers and a long table buffet of Italian food.
9.10pm to 11pm
100 WARDOUR - showcase - 100 Wardour Street,London W1.
This restaurant and bar is on the site of the legendary Marquee Club.
I went there loads of times in the 1970s and 1980s.
In 1964 it became the home of legendary music venue The Marquee Club, but this was forced to move in 1988 after the building was discovered to be unsafe. Following its demolition and rebuilding, restaurateur supremo Sir Terence Conran bought the site and launched Mezzo in 1995 — a vast double-decker 600-cover ‘gastrodome’.
Though it was initially popular, after a few years it started to struggle.
A couple of more owner changes after that.It was recently called Floridita.
It is a huge space over two levels with the stage downstairs.
We had a live covers band called The New Atlantics who played for an hour.
The band consists of 2 good vocalists, percussion, 2 horns and a killer rhythm section, who serve up a blend of Soul, Pop and R&B hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder to Jess Glynn & Michael Jackson to Justin Timberlake.
Complimentary beers and wines for all guests.

VIN + OMI - SS18 collection catwalk show - Andaz Hotel, 40 Liverpool Street,London EC2.
This catwalk show is part of London Fashion Week that starts on Friday but was moved forward so that
DEBBIE HARRY can strut her debut UK catwalk while she is in town.
Also strutting his stuff was Blondie keyboard player Matt Katz-Bohen.
A proper buzz here with around 500 crammed into the room split between seats and standing.
At 10.15pm around 40 models strut their stuff to some cool music sounds including Placebo and Prodigy.
Many of the models outfits feature the Vin + Omi slogan STOP FUCKING THE PLANET which
Debbie has been wearing at many of her stage shows ie The Roundhouse.
Debbie Harry is the first model out and then has a second outfit at the end.
It lasted around 20 mins.
In the front row were Boy George ,Jane Horrocks and Jasmine Guinness.
Philip Salon was in the second row wearing a typically wacky outfit.
As I had a seat I got a goodie bag under my chair.
Afterparty was in the bar area of this cool newish hotel.

Weather was a bit dire with off and on rain...but nothing too heavy.
Thankfully I have a press wristband for the guest & press area right of stage which has got plenty of chairs
and a covered area along with the all important nice toilets with no queues.
Around 500 guests are in this area with all the BBC Radio presenters here who were introducing the bands

Also a nice surprise to see ex England footie legend Stuart Pearce who is a big punk rock fan.
He is introduced The Sex Pistols at Finsbury Park in 1996 on The Filthy Lucre Tour.
This was when England football was at fever pitch for Euro 96.
I had a nice long chat with him and he still loves punk rock gigs as he attended Green Day at Hyde Park
and The Rebellion Punk Festival in Blackpool.
Also here was Jordan (Sex Pistols fans would know her) who was at all the early Sex Pistols gigs.
She was here to see Blondie.

Shania has been very quiet the past decade since her divorce to well known music producer
Robert 'Mutt' Lange.
This was her first UK show for at least a decade and she brought out a full production including
pyros and flames and had a lot of loyal fans down the front wearing her t-shirts etc.
Still looking great and good to hear some of those big hits that had everyone singing along.

BBC Radio 2 'Festival In A Day' was an excellent day out.

Sunday 10 September 2017.
On this day in KISSTORY - September 10, 1975, KISS released their legendary 'Alive! 'album. This double live album, recorded largely in Detroit's Cobo Arena (with some material from Iowa, New Jersey and Ohio), marked the pivotal giant step towards achieving world domination in the 70's.
I would see KISS play Hammersmith Odeon the following year on their debut UK tour when they
were promoting their classic album from 1976 titled 'Destroyer'.

Saturday 09 September 2017.
This show was sold out in advance...Part of their first UK tour for several years...
The Psychedelic Furs forthcoming tour will see the British art-rockers focusing on the 22 singles
they’ve released during their 40-year career.
They had eight Top 75 hits in the UK but only two made it into the Top 40.
They released seven albums on Columbia Records between 1980 and 1992 then split for a bit.
They ticked over quite well in the UK and had good success in America in the 1980's.
The band went on extended hiatus in the early 1990s, with Richard and Tim Butler going on to found
Love Spit Love with Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer (both of whom would later join Guns N' Roses).
I have seen them around a dozen times since 1979 when they were a support band to The Only Ones.
LENE LOVICH BAND were on from 8pm and played for around 45 mins.
Lene has been pretty quiet the past 30 odd years.
Hard to believe she is now aged 68 but looks and sounds as kooky as ever.
I saw her a couple of times over 35 years ago when she had some success.
Lene played her big number three hit from 1979 'Lucky Number' which was great.
PSYCHEDELIC FURS arrived on stage just after 9.15pm and played for 95 mins.
They still include original members Richard Butler on vocals and his brother Tim on bass guitar.
Singer Richard Butler is now 61 but still looks the part of a proper rock star.
Richard still waves his arms around with some vaudeville hand twirls which were
mixed in some mime like the old days.
Richard was mates with Bowie back in the day and def has some Bowie mannerisms.
They played gems including 'Pretty In Pink' ,'Heaven' ,Heartbeat' and 'President Gas'.
But they also blow the dust off some 45s that have rarely had a live runout.
You forget how many of their songs feature great sax playing.
A great show.

sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide.

I saw Eurythmics a few times in their 1980s heyday.
Support act tonight are THE LONDON COMMUNITY GOSPEL CHOIR who performed for 35 mins.
There are 21 members on stage when you add the choir and band members together.
Great vocals and uplifting vibes on covers including 'Reach Out and Touch' and 'Love Train'.
I first saw them live in 1988 at The Jazz Cafe in Camden.
I have a perfect view in Level 1 seat front left of stage for Dave & Co.
DAVE STEWART & FRIENDS arrived on stage at 8.50pm and played for a nice long 2 hours 15 mins.
They were introduced by legendary BBC Radio dj Bob Harris (original OGWT presenter).
Dave looks great in one of his old stage suits that he said "is pinching a bit as it's been 20 years plus
since it was last worn".
A full band that included three female backing singers and LCG Choir on some songs.
Various guest artists came on for two or three songs each.
Pretty incredible the amount of great songs Dave has recorded or wrote for someone else.
He still can play some nifty guitar when required.
Various females including Diane Birch , the backing vocals and LCG Choir did fantastic work.
At the end of the night all the crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' to Dave.
A great show.
The show was all filmed for use in the future.

CREGAN & CO live at The Theatre Royal,Windsor,Berkshire.
Cregan & Co play the songs of Rod Stewart.
Starring Jim Cregan - one of the most influential guitarists in Rod Stewart’s career.
Cregan has received thirteen multi-platinum awards for his work with Stewart

I saw him playing with Rod many times back in the day.

in 2006 and on drums is Harry James ( long time drummer with Thunder).
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Rods eighth album 'Foot Loose & Fancy Free ' which was
released in November 1977 on Riva Records in the UK and Warner Bros in the US.

Down the front half a dozen of them put on paper masks of The Royal Family and posed
behind a full size Rod Stewart FC flag...well we were in Windsor...funny though.

enough for me to see them very early on in their career.

Friday 01 September 2017.
First day of this three day event - Fri 01 Sept, Sat 02 Sept, Sun 03 Sept.
The Concours of Elegance returns to the stunning grounds of Hampton Court Palace.
The Concours of Elegance will once again bring together a selection of over 100 of the rarest cars from around the world – many of which will never have been seen before in the UK. Many of the Concours cars will also take part in a 2 day driving tour in the days running up to the main Concours event.
On Friday at noon Concours welcome the arrival of five iconic Jaguar D-type racing cars and their drivers,
marking 60 years since the legendary 1-2-3-4-6 finish at Le Mans in 1957.
● For the first time in 60 years, Jaguar’s 1957 D-type Le Mans 1-2-3 finishers are brought together
● Also reunited for first time in more than 50 years are two members of the legendary Jaguar works teams of the 1950s – Chief Test Driver, Norman Dewis OBE, and team mechanic, Ron Gaudion flown to the UK from Australia.
This was the excellent event i went to in 2016 where Olivia Harrison turned up as
George Harrison's 1966 Radford Mini de Ville GT Mini in Psychedelic colours was on display. their website here for more info and to buy tickets.
Concours was at Windsor Castle last year and this year it is at another stunning location at Hampton Court
which dates back to 500 years ago and Henry VIII.
They have a week of concerts here every summer that form a spectacular live setting.
I did not go to any this past July but have been to many in previous years.
Got here a bit later than expected at 1pm instead of noon so i missed the Taittinger champers reception.
The cars are in the Garden area at the back of The Palace.
The first cars you see are the five Jaguar cars from Le Mans in 1957 with their drivers near them.
It is a perfect sunny day for looking at the 100 plus stunning cars here.
From classic cars dating back 100 years to current Aston Martins etc.
I loved looking at 'project cars' where someone has found a classic car hidden away in a garage etc for
30 or 40 years and has become a rust bucket and the new owners have taken pictures of its
restoration step by step which is displayed by the car.
At 3pm Prince Michael of Kent gave awards to three incredible rare cars in top notch condition.
After that for an hour i wandered into Hampton Court itself to see the stunning art collection etc.
From 4.30pm to 6pm i was in the hospitality tent where there was complimentary afternnoon tea which
included various finger sandwiches, pastries ,cakes, coffees, teas and Negronis.
All guests in here got a nice complimentary hardback book of all the cars on display that they were selling
for £20 in the general area.
This event is a must see for anyone that likes cars.
7.30pm to 8pm
PRINCESS DIANA memorial flowers display at Kensington Palace, London W8.
As it was near to The Royal Albert Hall gig later i thought i would have a peak.
Pretty amazing there are so many flowers, photos, messages for someone who died 20 years ago.
Nothing of course compared to the flowers when she died which must have spread out 100 yards or more.
Kensington Palace has been home to Britain's young Royals for 300 years.

Friday 01 September 2017.

FAITH - GEORGE MICHAEL LEGACY live at The Beck Theatre, Hayes,Middlesex.
A musical journey of 35 years of hit records, from Wham to his solo career, the show uses
actual video footage from The George Michael 25 live tour and is a 2 hour plus spectacle.
The UK's number one tribute show to George Michael, with over 16 years performing as George Michael.
As part of his current massive UK tour.
I saw Wham five times in the 1980s including Live Aid and saw George several times as a solo artist.
A near full house crowd here as must be 550 out of 600 tickets sold...three quarters of the crowd are female.
A nice long show of around 2 hours 25 mins over two sets of 70 mins and 75 mins.
An impressive stage production with a big screen showing computer images and old George Michael footage.
Wayne Dilks certainly has the voice, looks and stage mannerisms of George Michael.
He was backed by a seven piece band that included two female backing singers.
A perfect mix of Wham and George Michael tracks mixing hits with a few lesser known tracks.
The crowd really got into it with plenty of singing along and standing up and dancing for half the songs.
Near the end of the first set we had an actual marriage proposal...with the help of George.
It started off with George inviting a male guest on stage to sing a song on stage with him.
He got out a piece of paper that I presumed were lyrics to the song in question but to the
crowds surprise it was a marriage proposal....and she said yes...cue the flowers and balloons.
A very enjoyable show.
Tracks in the first set included...
I'm Your Man
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Father Figure
Everything She Wants
A Different Corner
Tracks in the second set included...
Jesus To A Child
Club Tropicana
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

Pink Floyd V&A exhibition 'rocks on' and is set to beat Bowie.
The V&A's Pink Floyd exhibition, Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains, is on course to become the museum's most visited show, beating its 2013 David Bowie 'blockbuster'. The gallery announced that ticket demand was so great it would extend the show by two weeks yesterday, and fully expects it to exceed the figures for David Bowie Is, which attracted 311,000 visitors.
Exhibition now on until Sunday, 15 October 2017

Thursday 31 August 2017.
The Rolling Stones have been in Park Royal, West London the last several days at a
rehearsal studio compound in preparation for their mainland Europe Tour.
Been told they are departing there Friday 01 Sept.
It is just a mile from Black Island Rehearsal Studios where i attended two AC/DC video recordings.

Thursday 31 August 2017.
20 years ago today Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris.
Most would remember where they were when it happened as the news came through on a Sunday morning.
I remember taking my kids to Kensington Gardens to see the massive sea of flowers and tributes.
For the funeral i was outside The Royal Albert Hall as it went passed.
That week from death to burial was a pretty surreal time as the country mourned.
There will be many tv documentary specials on it.
"Candle in the Wind 1997" is a song by Elton John, a re-written and re-recorded version of his 1973 song
"Candle in the Wind".
Elton John only sung this version once which was at Princess Diana's funeral.
It was released on 13 September 1997 as a tribute to Diana and went on to sell over
33 million (yes 33 million) copies worldwide and go to number one in over 20 countries.
It is the biggest selling single of the last 50 years and has only been surpassed by
Bing Crosby "White Christmas".
It was recorded at The Townhouse Studios,Shepherds Bush,West London...(houses are there now)

Wednesday 30 August 2017.
Sex Pistols fact of the day.
The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle is a 1980 British mockumentary film directed by Julien Temple
It centres on the British punk legends The Sex Pistols.
After his 1980 suicide, the film was shown at the wake of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis.
This was put on by Factory Records.

Tuesday 29 August 2017.
Iggy Pop second solo album 'Lust For Life' was released 40 years ago today in 1977.
It featured David Bowie on keyboards and included the title track and 'Passenger'
I saw Iggy Pop at The Rainbow in 1977 when he was promoting the album and
David Bowie also joined him on the tour.

Tuesday 29 August 2017.
This day in Sex Pistols history.
The Sex Pistols played the first of two legendary gigs at Screen On The Green cinema in Islington.
I was not as the first gig but i was at the second one.

The Notting Hill Carnival, West London...1pm to 8pm...
West London will be transformed into party central, with a host of amazing reggae, garage, grime, soca, dancehall, bashment and dub offered up via the historic sound systems which line the streets of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Organisers of London’s world-famous Notting Hill Carnival have shut down calls to move the
event elsewhere in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The team which runs the popular August street party pledged this year’s carnival “will show respect”
for victims and offer solidarity to the devastated community.
The Grenfell Tower is on the outskirts of the Carnival route area.
London Live tv are showing live coverage on both days 4pm to 6pm.
Notting Hill Carnival is the second biggest in the world...after The Rio Festival.
Notting Hill Carnival attracts two million people over the two days.
Notting Hill Carnival is 11 times the size of The Glastonbury Festival.
There are around 40 static soundsystems, ten steel pan bands and 70 performing stages.
Beware of crowded bottlenecks and a lack of porta-loos to cope with the huge numbers which
usually leads to some enterprising locals charging for entrance to their home's,
taking advantage of those who've had one too many cans of Red Stripe.
Also keep an eye out for that elusive Notting Hill Carnival classic moment. Police dancing terribly to reggae.
Needless to say i have been many times over the past 40 years.
Today was the first day of The Notting Hill Carnival.
A perfect sunny day....I was at the Carnival from 1pm to 8pm.
Even on the Central Line tube, it was buzzing as the folks got stuck into their booze and blew their whistles.
From Notting Hill Gate I walked down Portobello Road and Ladbroke Grove and saw some amazing floats
with their dancers in amazing colourful costumes.
Sound systems on every corner blasting out sounds.
Noise everywhere as the amazing party vibe was really great.
The many stalls selling West Indian food etc.
Headed up towards the iconic Trellick Tower building which was next to the RBMA event.
I was at RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY event at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park from 2.30pm to 7.15pm.
After a two-year hiatus, Red Bull Music Academy returns to Notting Hill Carnival.
In previous years i have seen Rita Ora and Sean Paul perform for them.
Around 3000 in the park watching the live acts and I have a guest wristband for the VIP area right of stage.
Over 200 folks in here with various complimentary cocktails including vodka, Duppy Share Jamaican Rum,
etc that all are mixed with Red Bull in them.
Also Red Stripe lagers and lots of jerk chicken wraps.
Also you can see the stage from the VIP area and they have the all important nice loos with no queues.
It's also the best part of the park with pretty flower displays and plenty of benches.
Guests here included model Jourdan Dunn and singer Ella Eyre.
Dunn is a part of a small elite group of modern day models considered to be this generation's supermodels.
At 3pm there was a minutes silence for Grenfell in the park which was respected but you could still
hear the steel bands and sound systems in the distance so not everyone stopped playing to pay respect.
Various acts performed on the Red Bull stage but the two main headliners were...
At 4.30pm SPICE performed a 30 mins set with dancers.
Spice is a Jamaican dancehall recording artist, singer and songwriter.
She is very popular in Jamaica with hits including 'So Mi Like It'.
At 5.10pm WIZKID performed a 30 mins set with dancers.
WizKid is a very popular Nigerian singer and songwriter.
In 2016, WizKid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, "One Dance", which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
WizKid has just signed a multi-album deal with RCA.
He was ranked 5th on Forbes and Channel O's 2013 list of the Top 10 Richest/Bankable African Artists.
In February 2014, WizKid became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter.
Like Spice, Wizkid also used flames in his stage production.
The crowd loved him.
A great day at Carnival.
All the police and stewards did a good job throughout the day.

Sunday 27 August 2017.
Happy Birthday to Sex Pistols bass player GLEN MATLOCK who is 61 today.
Glen has a new solo album out soon so look out for that.
Sunday evening at Reading Festival
Muse were joined by ex AC/DC singer Brian Jackson on vocals singing 'Back in Black'.

Saturday 26 August 2017.
THE TEARAWAYS + HEADLINE MANIAC live at The 100 Club,London...£15 adv or £20 on the door.
The Tearaways were part of the New York power pop scene of the early 1980s.
The Tearaways featuring Clem Burke, John Finseth, John Ferriter, Greg Brallier & Dave Hekhouse
The Tearaways released this debut single “Sounds like…” in 1981. After a hiatus the band started again in the 1990’s releasing a series of CD’s and released “The Early Mankey Sessions” in 2014.
Influenced by 1960's counterculture, The Tearaways combine the rock music subgenre of the British Invasion, lead most notably by the Beatles with the sunshine pop and surf music of the likes of the Beach Boys.
Watching Kasabian at Reading Festival on tv the night before and the massive crowds i realised
you could fit The 100 Club in the security/photographers pit in front of the main stage at Reading Festival.
You certainly do not need any big screens in this iconic intimate venue.
The support band HEADLINE MANIAC were a powerful rock trio with a nifty guitarist.
They played some good original tunes from their debut album.
UK Subs singer Charlie Harper and legendary original punk Jordan were both in the crowd.
THE TEARAWAYS arrive on stage at 9.10pm and play for around 95 mins.
They play a mix of their own material along with a couple of Blondie covers and a couple of other covers.
Lots of catchy melodic tunes with some great harmonies.
They have played at The Beatles Week convention which is held annually in Liverpool but this is their debut London show.
Blondie drummer Clem Burke has been playing them a couple of years and is with them tonight.
Pretty amazing the amount of bands Clem has drummed with over the years besides Blondie.
I saw him with The Plimsouls who are another American power pop band when I was on holiday
in Barcelona in May 1997.
Clem looks cool as he starts with his bomber jacket zipped up to the neck but after a couple of songs
the jacket if off as Clem soon starts sweating buckets with his enthusiastic and visual drumming style.
An enjoyable show.
Setlist tonight included...
Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio (Ramones cover)
I Don't Know and I Don't Care
We're All Gonna Drink Tonight
John Wayne
Rodney's Got A GTO ll
Name That Tune
Call Me ( Blondie cover)
Ballroom Blitz (Sweet cover) (with girl fan on stage dancing)
Encores :
One Way or Another (Blondie cover)
Naughty Dog

The original promo video for "Vlad the Impaler" starred Noel Fielding.

Friday 26 August 2017.
When you watch those BBC4 tv music shows and notice how many band members have now passed away.
The Ramones must have had the worst luck.
They split up in 1996 but now all four original members have passed away.
First Joey passed in 2001, then Dee Dee went in 2002, followed by Johnny in 2004 and
finally founding drummer Tommy in 2014.

Friday 25 August 2017.

MOTOWN : THE MUSICAL live at The Shaftesbury Theatre,London WC2.
Motown: The Musical is a jukebox musical that premiered on Broadway in April 2013. The musical is based on Berry Gordy's autobiography To Be Loved: The Music, the Magic, the Memories of Motown (1994), and on the history of his founding and running of the Motown record label, and his personal and professional relationships with Motown artists such as Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and Michael Jackson. The production's music and lyrics are taken from selections from the Motown received four nominations at the 67th Tony Awards.
It opened at The Shaftesbury Theatre on February 11, 2016.The show is currently booking through January 5, 2019. The West End production is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, who also directed this musical on Broadway and its US tour. The cast stars Cedric Neal (as Berry Gordy), Lucy St. Louis (as Diana Ross), Sifiso Mazibuko (as Marvin Gaye), and Obioma Ugoala (as Smokey Robinson).
The show is on for 2 hours 20 mins over two sets of 80 mins and 60 mins.
It starts with the origins of Motown in 1958 ,it's first release in 1959 and ends with the famous
25th anniversary concert in 1983 where Michael Jackson at the height of his solo success
joined up with his brothers The Jacksons and at the end performed his solo hit Billie Jean.
Needless to say the show has loads of great songs from the likes of The Temptations,The Four Tops,
Diana Ross, Supremes,Marvin Gaye,Smokey Robinson,Stevie Wonder, The Jacksons,The Commodores etc.
I have seen all of the original Motown artists listed above live in concert in their own right in the past.
I even saw The Supremes with Mary Wilson in 1975 at Hammersmith Odeon after Diana Ross had departed.
Lots of great stage costumes and dance routines tonight as well from all the acts.
Berry Gordy ruled everything at Motown which caused some friction with the other artists and some
left Motown as they got better deals from other record companies.
Motown original songwriters Holland Dozier Holland also left because of royalty disputes.
By the end of 1966 Motown had hired over 450 employees and had a gross income of $20 million.
A very enjoyable show. their website here for more info and to buy tickets.

Thursday 24 August 2017.
Ex AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has 18 cars.
There is no guessing how Phil Rudd’s AC/DC fortune was spent. Just look in his garage.
The former AC/DC drummer’s car collection is enough to make any motorhead envious.
Rudd’s collection includes a rare 1991 Ferrari F40 and a brand new Ferrari 599,as well as two Lamborghinis, a 2010 Rolls Royce Ghost, 2011 Bentley Mulsanne and Bentley super sport, Audi R8 V10, a 2011 Aston Martin DBS and 2010 Mercedes SLS AMG.
Rudd houses the cars in his helicopter hangar, yes … with his helicopter.
