Tuesday 22 August 2017.

Monday 21 August 2017.
This day 41 years ago I attended this mega gig as a 17 year old.
Rolling Stones,10 CC,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Todd Rundgren,
Knebworth Music Festival 21.08.1976 massive outdoor show.
This was fifth time seeing The Stones as i was at four of their Earls Court Arena shows earlier that year.

Sunday 20 August 2017....1.30pm to 10.15pm...
Rewind South 80s Festival at Henley-On Thames,Berkshire.
Status Quo + Kim Wilde + Midge Ure + Belinda Carlisle + Glen Matlock plus others.
A dozen acts will play shorter hits based sets---some just three songs and headliners around 60 mins.
Stunning location by The River Thames near to where George Harrison lived.
Expect over 30 hits from the original artists that recorded them.
Today was Day 2 - 20,000 capacity each day attending.
Lots of folks were dressed in fancy dress costumes which was fun.
All acts got the two big screens at the sides and a great centre screen showing brilliant recorded graphics.
The live music started at 1.50pm and everyone gets to the venue early as the promoters never say the
running order until you get on site so you only guess who is on first etc.
We had rain from around 6pm but i was prepared for that.
The dj between sets was Rusty Egan so that meant all three surviving members of The Rich Kids
(Rusty Egan,Midge Ure and Glen Matlock ) are all here tonight but not on stage together.
CHRISTIANS played a six song 30 mins set including their hits 'Ideal World' and their hit cover of
'Harvest For The World'.
THE SOUTH played a six song 30 mins set of Beautiful South hits including 'You Keep It All In',
'A Little Time','Rotterdam' and 'Carry On Regardless'.
They feature ex Beautiful South singer Alison Wheeler on vocals but Paul Heaton now has his own band.
JUNIOR MARVIN & THE WAILERS played 25 mins of nice reggae vibes.
Junior Marvin met Bob Marley on February 14, 1977 and joined Bob Marley and The Wailers.
After the death of Bob Marley in 1981, Marvin along with the remaining Wailers members formed The Wailers.
Tracks played included 'Stir It Up' ,'I Shot The Sheriff' and 'Stir It Up'.
BEF played an hour set with half a dozen name guest singers.
ROZALLA sung her hit 'Everybody's Free'.
OWEN PAUL is best known for his 1986 No. 3 hit single, "My Favourite Waste of Time" which he sung tonight
and was followed by a better than expected cover of 'Alive And Kicking'.
KIM APPLEBY made a very rare live appearance and sung her hit 'Respectable' and a cover of 'Footsteps'.
JILTED JOHN sung his punk gem 'Gordon Is A Moran' and a cover of 'Friday, I'm in Love'.
GLEN MATLOCK sung The Sex Pistols classic 'Pretty Vacant' and a cover of 'Happy'.
GLENN GREGORY sung a cover of 'Lets Dance' and his hit with Heaven 17 'Temptation'.
All above six acts came together for a tribute to George Michael to sing 'Freedom 90'.
Then the next four acts all played their set with the house band so quick changeovers.
SONIA played three hits but she was pretty average.
GO WEST played a six song 30 mins set including 'Don't Look Down' and 'We Close Our Eyes'.
BELINDA CARLISLE played a six song 30 mins hits set of catchy tunes including 'Leave A Light On',
'We Want The Same Thing' ,'I Get Weak' and 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth'.
MIDGE URE played a great 6 song 30 mins set of four Ultravox, one Visage and one solo.
Fade To Grey
If I Was
Loves Great Adventure
Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
KIM WILDE is still looking good and all glammed up for her seven song 35 mins set which included
'Chequered Love', 'You Came', her hit cover of 'You Keep Me Hanging On' and 'Kids In America'.
STATUS QUO are in full electric band mode tonight and played a headlining brilliant 65 mins set of hits.
The usual Quo production is here with all white speakers and the band all wearing white trainers.
This is the first time I have seen them since the sad death of guitarist Rick Parfitt.
It is business as usual for Francis Rossi as there is no mention of Rick tonight.
It is dark when they get on stage so they get the full light show.
A great show as they have so many top notch rockin' tunes.
Full Status Quo setlist played tonight...
Something 'bout You Baby I Like
Medley - What You're Proposing / Down the Dustpipe / Wild Side of Life / Railroad / Again and Again
Paper Plane
In the Army Now (Bolland & Bolland cover)
Roll Over Lay Down
Down Down
Whatever You Want
Rockin' All Over the World (John Fogerty cover)
Encore :
Burning Bridges
Rock and Roll Music / Bye Bye Johnny
A nice full fireworks display at the end.
With so many great songs played all through the day...excellent event...

Sunday 20 August 2017.
Happy Birthday to JIM BOWEN who is 80 today.
Bullseye host Jim Bowen will celebrate his 80th birthday this weekend with 30 friends. The TV veteran is to mark the milestone with former co-presenter Tony 'in one' Green at his local pub. Bowen, who presented more than 300 episodes of the ITV show which ran from 1981 to 1995, has 'battled back to health' after three strokes.

Friday 18 August 2017....Free Admission for all punk gig...
Acton punk legends The Satellites are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and are playing
their first shows for over 30 years.
They released four singles and an album in the late 70s / early 80s.
I saw them three times back in the day---in 1978,1980 and 1982.
Sadly I did not get along to The Satellites main comeback show at The 100 Club on 30 June 2017
as it clashed with Phil Collins and Blondie in Hyde Park so i have made the long trek
from West London to the badlands of Deptford.
This venue is a proper old school pub rock venue with graffiti and band stickers everywhere.
Tonight The Satellites are the support band as the headliners are local boys as they formed in Deptford.
The Satellites arrived on stage at 8.35pm and played for 45 mins.
Quite a few chums here from Acton have also made the journey to cheer them on.
Singer Del and the band whizz through some punky little gems.
They finished their set with a great version of their debut single 'Urban Gorilla'.
Full setlist played by The Satellites tonight...
High Rise Hillbillies
Lucy Is
The Sea
Windscale Boy
Sick Planet
Identity Crisis
West Acton Shakedown
Urban Gorilla
The Phobics arrived on stage at 9.55pm and played for 55 mins.
The five members fronted by Tom are squeezed together on the tiny stage.
I saw The Phobics supporting at The 100 Club earlier this year which was pretty average but tonight
in front of their friends and family as headliners they are much, much better.
Some catchy punk rockin tunes played including a great cover of 'One Track Mind'.
Punk Rock is alive and kicking in Deptford tonight.
The Phobics setlist included...
Split Personality
Like A Child
The Nearly Man
When You're Dead (dedicated to our punk rock chum John Vick who sadly passed away recently)
Punk Rock Show
Boy Band
Down And Out In Deptford
Lipstick (dedicated to Johnny Thunders)
One Track Mind (Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers cover)

Friday 18 August 2017.
Very sad news that tv legend SIR BRUCE FORSTH has passed away.
Anyone my age can remember him presenting The Generation Game in the 1970s.
Sir Bruce Forsyth, the veteran entertainer and presenter of many successful TV shows, has died aged 89.
The former Strictly Come Dancing host had been unwell for some time and was in hospital earlier this year after a severe chest infection.
His long career in showbusiness began when he was aged just 14.
He became Britain's best-paid TV star, famous for hosting game shows like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right.
Not long ago he was still presenting Strictly Come Dancing in his 80s.
I attended both his recent shows at The Royal Albert Hall in May 2012 and June 2013 and chatted with him
at his autobiography book launch at Fortnum & Mason in Sept 2015.

Friday 18 August 2017.
Happy Birthday to actor Robert Redford who is 81 today.
This day 38 years ago i attended this mega gig
The Who,Stranglers,AC/DC,Nils Lofgren live at Wembley Stadium, London...18 Aug 1979...

Thursday 17 August 2017...6.15pm to 8.15pm...
ORIS - launch party - WATCHES OF SWITZERLAND ,155 Regent Street,London W1.
Around 100 guests at the very smart Watches of Switzerland flagship store.
Oris continues its proud watchmaking tradition by officially unveiling Artelier Calibre 113, the fourth in the company’s series of highly innovative, high-functioning watches powered by in-house developed movements. Calibre 113 shares the same base architecture as Oris Calibres 110, 111 and 112, but features a novel business calendar, showing the day, date, week and month of the year.
This store sells all the top level Swiss luxury watch brands including Oris, Brietling, Hublot ,Rolex,Tag Heuer,
Longines, Zenith, Raymond Weil and others.
They all look great but only a couple are under £1000 to buy and most are £1000 to £10,000.
The co-owner of the brand gave a nice speech on the history of Oris from their origins that started in 1904.
He mentioned the Quartz Crisis when cheap foreign watches flooded the market in the 1970s and 1980s
and around 900 Swiss watch companies went bust but Oris survived this.
Funnily enough when I worked at Hammersmith Odeon front of stage security in the 1980s i had one of these
cheap Quartz watches as it had a light button on it so that I could
see the time when it was dark when the lights were down for when the band were on stage.
Complimentary prosecco,Gin Cocktails,Negroni's and canapés for all guests. their website here for more info.

Thursday 17 August 2017.
Daniel Craig's 'sky-high' Bond fee.
Actor Daniel Craig will reportedly be paid £75m to £100m - the highest actor's fee ever paid for a single film - when he returns to the Bond franchise. Craig, 49, who once claimed he'd rather 'slash his wrists' than play 007 again, has revealed he will be back for his fifth and final stint, making him the longest serving Bond after 13 years in the role.

Wednesday 16 August 2017.

Elvis Presley died 40 years ago today on 16 Aug 1977.
Elvis Presley was dubbed The King of Rock 'n' Roll until his untimely death aged just 42.
He sold over 600 million records.
41 years ago today on 16 Aug 1976 i saw AC/DC live at The Marquee Club.
This was the NINTH of TEN times i saw them in 1976 alone.
This was of course with Bon Scott on vocals.
40 years ago today on 16 Aug 1977 i saw Ted Nugent at Hammersmith Odeon.
This was the fourth time i had seen him in over the period 1976/1977.
The success of his first three solo albums made him a regular visitor to the UK.

Monday 14 August 2017.
Jim Steinman's BAT OUT OF HELL - The Musical live at The London Coliseum,London WC2.
I attended the massive launch party for this event in Nov 2016 where they closed off the street
outside the venue as Meat Loaf said a few words and the cast performed three songs in front of 1000
people including 60 Harley Davidson riders and their bikes at the front.
I attended the opening night party for this event in June 2017 but this is my first time seeing the show.
Meat Loaf did not come over for the opening press / vip night.
The Coliseum is a very large venue that seats over 2000 over four levels.
It is a stunning theatre that was built back in 1904.
It was designed for Sir Oswald Stoll by Frank Matcham, the leading theatre architect of his day.
I have only been here a couple of times before as it is mainly used for Opera.
Along with Selfridges they were the first two places in England you could buy Coca-Cola.
The show has had loads of great five star and four star reviews.
The show is on for 2 hours 25 mins over two sets of 70 mins and 75 mins.
The show features Jim Steinman's best songs featuring mainly Meat Loaf classics.
The classic album 'Bat Out Of Hell' is 40 years old this year.
I have seen Meat Loaf over 15 times including his first London show in 1978 at Hammersmith Odeon.
This is a truly staggering piece of musical theatre, which breaks new boundaries in its staging, choreography and concept.
The Meat Loaf classics are perfect for a musical - big power ballad songs with great lyrics full of drama.
An excellent show.

Sunday 13 August 2017...3pm to 8pm...
Notting Hill Carnival Pioneers Festival 2017 live at Portobello Green,Ladbroke Grove,London W10.
A lovely sunny day out in West London.
First stop was the Latimer Road area up close looking at the GRENFELL TOWER which was very sad.
It's one thing looking at it burning on the tv but up close it is hard to take in.
The churches and walls near the tower are still covered in messages, photos, candles and flowers.
Then a short walk to the festival area that featured JANET KAY and various other acts.
Pre carnival vibes here on a smaller scale as black, white, brown ,yellow and others party together.
Two small stages under the flyover and the main outdoor stage in Portobello Green.
There are reggae bands, djs, sound systems, solo acts, steel bands etc.
Great to see the older guys playing some calypso on the smaller stages.
Then over to the main stage for the headline acts.
We had a few songs by JC001 who is an Anglo Indian London born rapper/poet/beatbox and vocalist.
Also several songs played by the legendary reggae Sir Coxsone Sound System.
Lots of mentions to Grenfell Tower throughout the day.
At 7pm JANET KAY played a 40 mins set.
Janet Kay now aged 59 is a British vocalist best known for her 1979 lovers rock hit "Silly Games"
which went to number two in the UK was her final song tonight...
Before that Janet played her own material and some old school cover versions which included
a reggae cover of Minnie Riperton's song "Lovin' You".
An enjoyable event.

Sunday 13 August 2017.
Fact of the day.
Have you heard of the band with the odd name of PHISH?
Phish are one of those American bands who are massive at home but pretty much nobody in the UK
is that interested in them.
I doubt if they are that bothered after i read about their staggering run of gigs at MSG.
Phish have just played a 13-night run at New York City's Madison Square Garden from July 21 to August 6, 2017.
Named "The Baker's Dozen", these shows brought the band's total performances at the Garden to 52
since they first played there in December 1994.
At each show fans were given a different flavour donut as they arrived.
Phish's sixteenth studio album, Big Boat, was released on October 7, 2016 on JEMP Records.

Saturday 12 August 2017.
Fact of the day.
From December 1964 to early March 1965, Glen Campbell was a touring member of the Beach Boys,
filling in for Brian Wilson, playing bass guitar and singing falsetto harmonies.

Thursday 10 August 2017...I went to three events tonight...
6.30pm to 8pm
PICHIAVO - IN GODS WE TRUST - private view - Unit London,147 Wardour Street,London W1.
Around 200 guests in this large space that is used for various events.
Quite a few people here i know as it is August and things are a bit quite so we all end up at the same event.
This summer Unit London presents the first major London exhibition by PichiAvo, the Spanish duo who have become one of the most talked about talents in the global urban art community. This exhibition follows a recent commission for New York’s iconic Houston Bowery Graffiti Wall, where they were the latest in a line of celebrated artists - from Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf to Shepard Fairey and RETNA - to paint the famous wall. With In Gods We Trust they remix classical references with contemporary urban imagery, with each painting dedicated to one of the Greek Gods. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Ares, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Athena, Apollo and Artemis are the protagonists of this landmark exhibition which is intended by the artists to be a reflection on timeless values of courage, beauty, freedom and perfection.
It is on until 24 Sept 2017.
Complimentary Remy Martin Cognac cocktails for all guests.
www.theunitldn.comVisit their website here for more info.
8.15pm to 9.30pm
MELISSA X MUSHPIT - private view- Melissa , 43 King Street,Covent Garden,London WC2.
A joint party hosted by Melissa (Brazilian shoe brand) and Mushpit (fashion magazine).
Melissa produced more than 32 million pairs and today is sold in more than 70 countries.
Melissa are showing their impressive new shoe range for Autumn / Winter 2017.
This store has a futuristic feel with a LED structure that changes according to each exhibition hosted.
A young trendy fashion crowd here and there is a dj playing dance tunes in the corner.
Complimentary red & white wines for all guests.
9.45pm to 11pm
SMITH & WOLLENSKY, 1-11 John Adam Street, off The Strand, London WC2.
The two earlier events tonight did not have any food so it was an ideal time to use one of my £25 gift cards
that I got in goodie bags a month ago as I was starving.
Like a couple of weeks ago I got a lovely two course dinner for just under the £25 mark.
Again the service from the impeccably dressed staff was great and this restaurant and bar is top notch.

Thursday 10 August 2017.
Several years ago he was the dj at a couple of store launch parties I attended and now he makes millions.

Sad news that Country star GLEN CAMPBELL has died, aged 81.
A representative for his record label, Universal, confirmed that the musician had passed away.
In a statement, Campbell’s family said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.”
In a career that spanned six decades, his best known tracks were 'Rhinestone Cowboy’, ‘
'Wichita Lineman’ and ‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’....he sold many millions of records...
I saw him live a couple of times at The Royal Festival Hall in the past decade.
For one of the shows in 2008 he was promoting his covers album 'Meet Glen Campbell'.
That gig and album included a mega version of The Foo Fighters classic 'Times Like These'
which is worth a watch on YouTube.

Ronnie Wood, 70, had part of his lung removed after being diagnosed with cancer, but admitted he feared it was 'time to say goodbye'. The Rolling Stones guitarist also confessed he was worried about the side-effects of chemotherapy and wouldn't have had it if the cancer had spread, explaining 'I wasn't going to lose my hair. This hair wasn't going anywhere. I said "No way"'.

HUE & CRY 'POCKETFUL OF STONES' - album launch party -
PRS For Music,2 Pancras Square,Kings Cross,London N1.
We are on the 8th Floor of the brand new headquarters of PRS For Music which is in the heart of the
incredible re-generation of the area around Kings Cross/St Prancras stations.
Hue and Cry are a pop duo formed in 1983 in Coatbridge, Scotland, by brothers Pat Kane (vocals) and Greg Kane (music/production).
The duo's biggest hit was the 1987 single "Labour of Love" which is a pop funk classic.
I have seen them several times in the past including in 1987 when they supported Madonna at
Wembley Stadium and their own headline shows at Hammersmith Odeon in 1989 and 1990.
Hue & Cry will release a brand new studio album, 'Pocketful Of Stones', on September 1st.
The twelve-track album will showcase the duo's first new material for five years.
At 7.15pm Hue & Cry with full band including sax and trombone play a six song 25 mins set.
They started their set with an older hit 'Looking For Linda' then it was four good tracks from the new album
that still features a lot of sax and trombone on them and for one song singer Pat was joined on stage by
his daughter to help him sing 'Let Her Go' which was about his daughter getting her first student flat.
They finished their short set with their biggest hit 'Labour Of Love'.
Very enjoyable.

ALBERT'S - showcase evening - 91b Old Brompton Road,South Kensington,London SW7.
This venue changed ownership and name a year ago and they have certainly refurbished it to a high standard.
It is now a £500-a-year private members’ club in the basement on the Old Brompton Road is aimed at
well-connected West Londoners who want a civilised evening out but who do not want to travel to Mayfair.
Founding partner Carlo Carello, former manager at South Kensington’s Boujis, said the venture,
called Albert’s, would appeal to all age groups, not just the twentysomethings “who want to get drunk”.
He says the new club would be “more party than Soho House and more relaxed than Annabel’s”.
There will even be a Rolls-Royce that can be booked by members for their journey home.
You slink down the Balmoral- tartan-clad staircase and eat all the food. And then? Well, post-dinner, the lights go down, the music goes up, the tablecloths get whipped away, the ice buckets come out and ta-dah! - the restaurant is now a dancefloor.
Great staff bringing non stop drinks and food to our table...very nice here.
Guests enjoyed complimentary whiskey cocktails, vodka cocktails ,wines and lots of very nice canapés.

EXTREME have confirmed a UK tour following their Saturday headline show at Ramblin' Man Fair.
Newcastle O2 Academy Wednesday 13 December
Glasgow O2 Academy Thursday 14 December
Leeds O2 Academy Saturday 16 December
Birmingham O2 Academy Sunday 17 December
Bristol O2 Academy Monday 18 December
London O2 Academy Brixton Wednesday 20 December

Friday 28 July to Sunday 30 July 2017.
3rd RAMBLIN' MAN FAIR is held at Mote Park,Maidstone....I went to the first two...
The Ramblin' Man Fair is THE main festival for CLASSIC ROCK fans in the UK.
There is also Blues and Prog Stages.
For the first time it will be held over three days --- with the Friday added.
Fri 28 July - Saxon + Y n T + Last In Line plus others.
I have seen Saxon over 20 times since 1979.
Sat 29 July - Extreme + Black Star Riders + Dokken + Glenn Hughes plus others
I saw Extreme play five nights at Hammersmith Odeon in 1991 when the success of their second album
'Extreme II: Pornograffitti (A Funked Up Fairy Tale) ' made them one of the biggest successes of that year.
A rare UK show by Dokken who i saw supporting Accept and AC/DC in the late 1980s.
Sun 30 July - ZZ Top + UFO + Quireboys plus others.
Nightmare clash for me as UFO and Quireboys are on at the same time on different stages.
I have seen ZZ Top around a dozen times since 1980.
I have seen UFO around 20 times times since 1976 which was at The Marquee Club.
I have seen Quireboys around a dozen since the late 1980s when they supported
Guns N Roses and Aerosmith.
Quireboys release their brand new album 'White Trash Blues' in September.
www.ramblinmanfair.comCheck their website here for more info.
The weather was a bit mixed as predicted.
Fri - a bit of drizzle.
Sat - sunny at midday then constant rain from the afternoon(British Lion) onwards.
Sun - a lovely hot and sunny day.
I was well prepared clothes wise but I also had a wristband for the VIP area to the left of stage
which had some seating and was covered so could go in there when it rained...or got too hot...
You could see the main stage from there so very handy.
Also nice toilets without any queues are always a plus in my book.
Also a couple of acts performed exclusive sets on Sat and Sun in the VIP area.
The VIP area of around 300 consisted of guests and press along with paid tickets costing £125 each day for
Sat and Sun and Friday was a bit cheaper.
A few people here i know and a few of the usual suspects.
I saw loads of great bands over the three days.
For me it is a perfect medium size festival where it is easy to get from one stage to the other quickly.
Also the Town Centre is 15 / 20 mins walk where you can have a Wetherspoons brekkie and get provisions.
There was a signing tent for some of the bands - not the headliners.
Friday 28 July 2017.
Friday was an extra day added so not as busy as Saturday and Sunday.
Only the main stage was used.
LAST IN LINE arrived on stage at 5.30pm for 40 mins set.
Last in Line are an American heavy metal band formed in 2012 by former members
of the original lineup of Dio.
The band's name comes from the 1984 Dio album The Last in Line.
Great to see some of those Dio classics played live again.
Full Last in Line setlist played tonight...
Stand Up and Shout (Dio cover)
Devil in Me
Holy Diver (Dio cover)
The Last in Line (Dio cover)
Starmaker (dedicated to band member Jimmy Bain who sadly passed away)
Rainbow in the Dark (Dio cover)
We Rock (Dio cover)
Y & T arrived on stage at 6.35pm for a 60 mins set.
They played a good set with some nifty Gibson guitar playing.
The singer reminds me of Sammy Hagar.
SAXON arrived on stage at 8.35pm and played for 95 mins.
I first saw them over 35 years ago but Saxon just seem to be getting better and better.
A stunning setlist with the middle section featuring gems from their classic live album
'The Eagle Has Landed' (1982) which reached #5 in the UK charts.
As always they gave a moving tribute to close friend Lemmy...I saw Saxon support Motörhead in 1979...
Incredibly singer Biff said this was the first time they have headlined a UK outdoor festival since Reading 1986.
An excellent set.
Intro song - It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll) (AC/DC song)

Saturday 29 July 2017.
BIFF BYFORD the singer from Saxon gives a 25 mins interview and Q n A in The VIP area
before the live music starts...he signs stuff and poses for photos at the end of the session...
He talked about bunking in to see great gigs at Sheffield City Hall in the 1970s.
JARED JAMES NICHOLS arrived on the main stage at 1pm and played for 30 mins.
Jared James Nichols is an American blues-rock guitarist and singer from the state of Wisconsin.
He is best known for his high-energy performances and 'pick-less' electric guitar playing technique.
He played a good time rock n roll set.
TOSELAND arrived on stage at 1.45pm for a 35 mins.
James Toseland is an English former motorcycle racer. Toseland was the 2007 World Superbike Champion on a Ten Kate Honda, and also won the 2004 Superbike World Championship on a Ducati.
Following the wrist injury sustained during a crash at Aragon in Spain, he would retire from racing immediately.
He is married to singer Katie Melua.
A good set.
BLACK STAR RIDERS members Ricky Warwick and Damon Johnson played a 20 mins acoustic set in the
VIP area which included great versions of 'Ace Of Spades' and 'Jailbreak'.
BRITISH LION arrived on stage at 3pm and played for 45 mins as the rain started to fall.
British Lion feature Iron Maidens bass playing legend Steve Harris.
A pretty average set of songs but great to see Steve mouthing all the words as usual.
REEF arrived on stage at 4.15pm and played for 40 mins.
They are more 90s indie but two of them have big bushy beards like some old blues guys.
Reef feature Ronnie Woods son Jessie on guitar.
A great version of their hit 'Place Your Hands' in a decent set.
GLENN HUGHES arrived on stage at 5.15pm and played for 45 mins set.
He still looks like a proper rock star and still has his great rock n roll vocal scream.
A good mix of songs from his 40 year plus career.
Full Glenn Hughes setlist played tonight...
Muscle and Blood (Hughes/Thrall song)
You Keep on Moving (Deep Purple song)
Soul Mover
Black Country (Black Country Communion song)
Burn (Deep Purple song)
DOKKEN arrived on stage at 6.25pm and played for 55 mins.
They sold over 10 milion albums worldwide in their late 80s heyday.
They never had much success in the UK with their brand of melodic rock and always
seemed to a support act rather than a headliner but it was a decent enough set.
BLACK STAR RIDERS arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for 60 mins.
Ricky Warwick on vocals is giving it 100% commitment.
Their own material is pretty good and only two Thin Lizzy classics played tonight
'The Boys Are Back In Town' and 'Whiskey In The Jar'.
Lots of flames used in their stage production.
KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD - I caught 20 mins of his set between the two headliners on the main stage.
He played some superb Blues guitar and has Jon Bon Jovi looks.
EXTREME take the stage at 9.20pm and play a 90 mins set.
It is dark from the start so their light show looks great from the start.
Extreme still feature three members from their early 90s heyday.
Gary Cherone‎ (vocals); ‎Nuno Bettencourt‎ (guitar) ; and Pat Badger (bass).
Gary Cherone is a very lively singer which was great to see as most singers today were pretty stationary.
Nuno Bettencourt plays some superb funk guitar licks and still looks the part too.
An early gem played was 'Get the Funk Out' which was a great singalong.
Other hit singles followed later in the set.
They played two Queen covers as they were very influenced by them back in the day.
A really good set.
Full Extreme setlist played tonight...

Sunday 30 July 2017.
STONE BROKEN arrived on stage at 12.30 for a 30 mins set.
A good set of 90s grunge type tunes with an excellent female drummer bashing away.
SNAKECHARMER arrived on stage at 1.20pm and played for 35 mins.
The singer thinks he is Paul Rodgers and the band have a Free/Bad Company sound.
TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN at 2pm play a 20 mins semi- acoustic set in The VIP tent.
Tyler and his band supported Guns n Roses at their big London stadium shows in June.
Tyler is aged only 26 but a fantastic guitar player.
They played four songs here that were really good and will watch their electric set later.
BLUES PILLS arrive on stage at 2.30pm and play for 45 mins.
Blues Pills are a rock band from Sweden.
They have a lively female singer but the songs are pretty average.
MONSTER TRUCK - I saw 30 mins of their decent set of uptempo Blues rock
Then over to The Blues Tent to catch two great young blues guitarists.
AARON KEYLOCK is a British teenage Blues sensation who has just released his debut album via Mascot.
I caught 30 mins of his brilliant guitar based set.
TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN arrived on stage at 5.10pm and played for 45 mins.
Tyler looks like Noel Fielding with longer hair and looks and acts like a proper rock star.
They played their own tracks and and a couple of covers in a great energetic set.
Then back to the main stage for UFO at 6.25pm for their 60 mins set.
Singer Phil Mogg at the age of 68 has now shaved his head.
He is the uncle of Nigel Mogg, bassist with The Quireboys who oddly enough were playing
The Blues Stage at the same time so I had to miss them this time.
Phil joked that they had a bet about who would attract the most women tonight out of the two bands.
Lots of older classics played in a great set.
Full UFO setlist played tonight...
Lights Out
Run Boy Run
Ain't No Baby
Too Hot to Handle
Only You Can Rock Me
Love to Love
Rock Bottom
Doctor Doctor
Then over to The Prog Stage to catch THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT to catch their last 45 mins.
I was really impressed when i saw them at The Royal Albert Hall in 2015.
They are very loud and very powerful and sound amazing.
Their second last track is the epic 'Kingdom' which is one of the best songs of the entire weekend.
I am sure some of the trees in Mote Park were uprooted by their stunning performance.
ZZ TOP take to the stage at 8.30pm and play for 90 mins.
ZZ Top have been around for over 40 years and still have the trademark beards, shades and hats.
Their laid back Texan Blues boogie always goes down a treat.
As a blues three-piece they genuinely have few peers. Billy Gibbons is a bona fide legendary guitar player and he has lost none of his skill over the years judging by his sometimes subtle, sometimes incendiary playing tonight.
They play all the big hits that everyone knows and love and a few covers.
They bring out the fluffy guitars and the little dance step routines as usual.
A great show.
