Shock news that KEITH FLINT co-vocalist/dancer in The Prodigy has passed away...aged only 49.
The Prodigy’s Keith Flint has died aged 49. The dance legend was found dead in his home in Dunmow, Essex, this morning. An Essex Police spokesperson said: ‘We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday.
I saw The Prodigy live around a dozen times, they were always fantastic and really got the crowd dancing.
Visit YouTube to watch their great videos and live concert clips.
Six of their seven studio albums were No 1 in the UK charts.
In an Instagram post,Prodigy band member Liam Howlett added: “The news is true. I can’t believe I’m saying
this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend".
“I’m shell shocked, fuckin angry, confused and heart broken.”

SPURS 1 ARSENAL 1 at Wembley Stadium...12.30pm kick-off.
Tottenham's Premier League match against north London rivals Arsenal on 2 March will take place at
Wembley because their new stadium is still not ready.
A massive near sell-out crowd with over 81,000 here including 3,000 Arsenal fans.
We are up in Level 5 where there are just a couple of unsold blocks.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw a last-minute penalty saved by Hugo Lloris to cost Arsenal victory and ensure Tottenham retained a crucial advantage over their arch-rivals in the battle for a top-four place after a dramatic north London derby at Wembley.
Harry Kane's contested penalty put Spurs level with 16 minutes left after Aaron Ramsey's coolly taken 16th-minute goal threatened to inflict a third successive league defeat on boss Mauricio Pochettino for the first time in his reign.
Arsenal were then handed a golden opportunity to close to within one point of Spurs after Davinson Sanchez fouled Aubameyang, but the striker's tame penalty was easily saved low to his right by the diving Lloris.

Saturday 02 March 2019.
Happy Birthday to JON BON JOVI who is 57 today.
This day in 2010 i saw KISS play a superb club show at Islington Academy.

This was gig number 6900 for me.

LAIBACH + film live at Shepherds Bush Empire, London.
Avant-garde music group, Laibach from Slovenia are still the most internationally acclaimed band to have come out of the former Communist countries of Eastern and Central Europe and they’re rounding up 2018 with the release of The Sound Of Music, a collection of songs inspired by the iconic film. Taking the album on the road in the early months of 2019, they’ll perform much of the new record, as well as selected songs from their repertoire.
Before they arrive on stage they will be an exclusive screening of their documentary film “Liberation Day”.
They are signed to the legendary MUTE Records who also co-produced the film.
Formed in 1980, Laibach have had many different band members.
From the early days, the band was subject to controversies and bans due to their use of iconography associated with totalitarianism, nationalism and militarism, a concept they have preserved throughout their career. Censored and banned in Socialist Yugoslavia and receiving a kind of dissident status, the band embarked on international tours and gradually acquired international fame. After Slovenia became independent in 1991, Laibach's status in the country has turned from rejection to promotion into a national cultural icon, which included performances with the Slovenian symphony orchestra.
Early Laibach albums were pure industrial, with heavy rhythms and roaring vocals. Later in the mid-80s, the sound became more richly layered, featuring samples from classical music. The lyrics, usually delivered by bass voice of the singer Milan Fras, written in German, Slovene and English, originally treated war and military themes, but later turned focus to any highly charged political issue of the moment, sending intentionally ambiguous messages. They also recorded several cover versions of popular songs, often turning light melodies into sinister-sounding Gothic tunes.
Around 700 folks here and it is reserved seats on the floor as we have a film to start.
From 6.45pm for 1 hour 40 mins we have their docu on the bizarre week the band had in North Korea in 2015
In the build up to them playing the first rock concert by a Western act.
Flashback to 2015. Considering the amount of secrecy surrounding North Korea, and its strict policy of limiting access to outsiders, the initial announcement that Laibach – a Slovenian avant-garde industrial art-rock act hailing all the way from the 80s – would be the first Western band ever to play in the country was quite unexpected, to say the least.
The worldwide shock came not only from the fact that it was a rock concert that was chosen to be the first performance by outsiders in North Korea, but Laibach’s particular act and performative choices too. The band has been, since their inception, repeatedly criticised for their usage of overt neo-fascist iconography – uniforms, manifestos, terrifying propaganda-like videos and all – all while leaving to speculation whether they’re being critical of or just emulating totalitarian ideologies.
It was a bit mad at how they got away with it , as officials questioned everything.
Even when testing the sound , band members said " it's not a sound check, it's an exam".
Some of the film was a bit Spinal tap in places.
Mute Records head honcho Daniel Miller was there to witness the gig and said "it was one of the most
significant concerts he had ever attended".
After the interval LAIBACH played for 1 hour 45 mins over two sets of 45 mins and 60 mins.
We have a big screen showing their Laibach type pre-recorded images.
The first set was their new album which is collection of Rodgers & Hammerstein classics.
They kinda ruined these great songs.
Why would you record these songs in a low key Rammstein type style?
Three vocalists with the main singer having a very deep moody growling voice.
Second set included a strange version of a Rolling Stones classic.
Lots of Prog type muso twaddle.
The crowd loved it but it just didn't do anything for me.
Full Laibach setlist played tonight...

RUTS DC + THE PROFESSIONALS live at Shepherds Bush Empire, London.
The Professionals feature Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook.
The Ruts are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album 'The Crack' ,released in 1979 and containing the UK hit singles: "Babylon's Burning" (Number seven on the UK chart in June 1979) and "Something That I Said" (No. 29 in September 1979) with a full UK tour.
I bought the album on vinyl when it first came out.
I saw The Ruts three times between 1978 to 1980.
Ruts DC still feature two original members.
Ruts DC will play a set featuring older material and tracks from their comeback album "Music Must Destroy".
The Professionals will play a set featuring older material and tracks from their comeback album "What in the World".
From 6.15pm to 6.45pm i was in the venue to see THE PROFESSIONALS sound check.
The band all played their instruments for the sound engineer and the vocals were tested too.
Short versions of a few of their songs plus the guitar riff for "Pretty Vacant".
Two songs played in full "Going Going Gone" and "Good Man Down".
Needless to say i was really looking forward to this great double-bill.
Levels 2 and 3 are closed as unsold but there must be at least 1000 people here.
As expected lots of old punk rockers here that i know.
There were over 150 on the guest list tonight.
Paul Cooks wife and daughter were here and his friends Ian Brown (ex Stone Roses)
and Marco Pirroni (ex Adam & The Ants) are here.
Non-stop classic punk tunes played over the pa when bands not on stage.
THE PROFESSIONALS arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for 45 mins.
I have seen them three times already since Paul reformed the band.
Great he has resurrected them even though Steve Jones is not involved.
They whizzed through nifty old and new tracks with a highlight being the
pairing in the middle of "Silly Thing" and "Rewind".
A great set.
Full setlist played by The Professionals tonight...

RUTS DC arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 90 mins.
One camera was filming all the show from the pit.
Because the main set is "The Crack" in full track order their biggest song "Babylon's Burning" is opener.
A big backdrop of the album cover dominates the back of the stage.
A fair amount of jumping around down the front.
A great set and for me a perfect night of two acts who were about 40 years ago and are still rockin'.
Full setlist played by Ruts DC tonight...

THE LEMON TWIGS + MATT MALTESE live at The Roundhouse, London.
The D’Addario brothers, also known as The Lemon Twigs are making waves for their glam rock-esque musical theatre and energetic live shows.
As the sons of working musicians and having performed on Broadway as children, it’s no surprise the Long Island brothers are channeling the flamboyantly theatrical energy they grew up with, alongside 60s and 70s Baroque pop artists such as Harry Nilsson, Wings and the Zombies.
They are promoting their second album, 'Go to School'.
They supported Arctic Monkeys on their Sept 2018 UK arena tour.
Support comes from Matt Maltese whose debut album in 2018 on Universal "Bad Contestant" got loads of
great reviews , including four stars from NME.
MATT MALTESE arrived on stage at 8pm and played for around 35 mins.
Matt is in his early 20s but looks even younger.
Matt is a pop piano wizard who is crafting soul-bearing ballads for a new generation.
Some great lyrics and some of the tunes were a bit Keane like in places.
THE LEMON TWIGS arrived on stage at 9.05pm and played for around 85 mins.
It is pretty full tonight for The Lemon Heads as they play another big London headline show.
Over the past two years they have played The Lexington to Koko to The Forum to The Roundhouse.
When i saw their first promo picture and bio I thought i must check this band out.
Their 70s look and 70s influences certainly grabbed my attention.
Over a dozen photographers in the pit as their image certainly makes a good photo.
Many of the crowd are wearing 70s retro clothing.
The brothers and the band look cool with their outlandish haircuts and outfits, and their kitschy music-hall singing and high-kicking and hand gestures live shows really was great to see.
Not easy being a new guitar based band these days but The Lemon Twigs are gaining more fans.
They played the best tracks from their two albums and the crowd loved it.
A great show.

Tuesday 26 February 2019...6.30pm to 9pm...
NINA NAUSTDAL - Spring / Summer 19/20 Fashion Show at Bagatelle, 34 Dover Street, London W1.
Over 200 guests at this modern French club-restaurant that opened in Mayfair a couple of years ago.
Over 20 photographers were here as Nina in a stunning dress posed with her friends and a few celebs
including Jackie St Clair, Meredith Ostrom, Mark Francis Vanelli and Heather Bird.
Before the fashion show there was a harpist playing and a female ballet dancer performed.
A dj was playing tunes loudly that helped to create a great busy and buzzy vibe.
At 8.15pm was the fashion show for 30 mins...with the crowd seated and standing.
This season, the Collection is inspired by the glorious bloom of rare exotic flowers.
To represent the unique movements and the sinuosity of the flourishing nature,
the silhouettes have been enriched with 3D decorations, flowers, feathers, butterflies and birds.
Each piece is handmade in Nina Naustdal's London Atelier.
The four collections all looked amazing and the floor-grazing gowns were spectacular.

More sad news about the death of a great musician.
MARK HOLLIS — frontman of synth pop 1980s sensation Talk Talk — has died at the age of 64,
his former bandmate Paul Webb confirmed.
Hollis co-founded Talk Talk in 1981. The band was part of the New-Romantic movement along with Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet.
Talk Talk had a series of hits in the UK across the 80s including ‘Talk Talk’ and ‘Its My Life’.
I saw Talk Talk play live five times in the 1980s and have a couple of their albums.

Monday 25 February 2019.
STEELY DAN + STEVE WINWOOD live at Wembley Arena, London.
A very nice double bill of golden oldies...although tickets are expensive.
Steely Dan have sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
Donald Fagen will be joined by special guest Steve Winwood.
I saw Steely Dan in Oct 2017 when they headlined The 02 Arena.
They had a good big name support act on that night as well - The Doobie Brothers.
I first saw Steve Winwood live in 1983 when he headlined Hammersmith Odeon
All the mainly older male crowd are in a bit earlier to see the special guest support act.
Even though Steely Dan played just 14 months ago in London, it is pretty much sold out.
Expensive tickets from £55 to £105 plus booking fees.
I have a great seat on the floor in the area in front of the mixing desk.
A few rows in front of me is Iron Maiden drummer Nico McBrain.
STEVE WINWOOD arrived on stage at 7.30pm and played for around 60 mins.
Neither of the two bands tonight had any big screen showing live footage.
Steve & his band were top notch musicians that included great sax and percussion.
A nice setlist featuring some highlights from his long career.
An ideal support act that the crowd loved.
A great set.
Full Steve Winwood setlist played tonight...
I'm a Man (The Spencer Davis Group song)
Them Changes (Buddy Miles cover)
Can't Find My Way Home (Blind Faith song)
Had to Cry Today (Blind Faith song)
The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (Traffic song)
Keep On Running (Jackie Edwards cover)
Higher Love
Dear Mr. Fantasy (Traffic song)
Gimme Some Lovin' (The Spencer Davis Group song)
STEELY DAN arrived on stage at 9pm and played for around 1 hour 50 mins.
12 musicians on stage including 3 female backing singers so plenty of great harmonies.
Like Steve Winwood the sound quality on stage was pretty much perfection.
Between 1972 and 1980, Steely Dan produced some of the most searing and bitter pop music ever recorded. With scathing lyrics delivered by Donald Fagen’s pungent vocals, he and partner Walter Becker’s music chronicled the feelings of many who passed through young adulthood during the 1970s. At times cynical and oddly nostalgic, Steely Dan made music borne of calculated musical precision aided by high-tech studio wizardry.
Donald Fagan is still here but Walter Becker died in Sept 2017, just a month before their 02 Arena show.
A great groove mixing funk, rock, jazz ,Prog in their sound with superb drum fills during most songs.
During the main set they were joined by Steve Winwood on one track and for the encore they were joined by
Elliot Randall. He is an American guitarist, best known for being a session musician with popular artists. Randall played the well-known guitar solos from Steely Dan's song "Reelin' in the Years" and Irene Cara's song "Fame". It was reported that Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said Randall's solo on "Reelin' in the Years" is his favourte guitar solo of all-time.
A great show and a fab evening with two quality bands.
Full Steely Dan setlist played tonight...

PETER DOHERTY to play The Roundhouse on 12 May on sale soon...

Sunday 24 February 2019...I went to two events today...
4.30pm to 7pm
The Carabao Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City will be shown live on Sky Sports.
Live from Wembley Stadium with kick-off at 4.30pm.
Man City on top form...can they win the first of a possible four trophies they are in contention for?
Lots of pressure on Chelsea coach/manager Sarri, who could be sacked if Chelsea lose this game.
No score after extra time then Man City win 4-3 on penalties.
A massive crowd as a pretty near full house of over 81,000 here.
I am up in Level 5 with a couple of mates who are Chelsea fans in the Chelsea end.
A pretty average game that got very entertaining at the end with a bizarre non-substitution and penalties.
Have you ever seen anything like it?
A player refusing to go off - and his manager losing the plot.
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga resisted Maurizio Sarri's attempt to substitute him late in extra time of the Carabao Cup final, which left his manager seething on the touchline.
Kepa had just been treated for cramp and, with the game at 0-0, Sarri was preparing to bring on reserve keeper Willy Caballero in his place before a penalty shootout.
But after some furious finger-wagging and screams of "NO!", Sarri was forced to give in.
Kepa is the world's most expensive goalkeeper at a whopping £71 million quid.
Kepa lost out in the penalty shootout.
10.30pm to 4.30am
THE OSCARS screening party at Ham Yard Hotel, Soho, London W1.
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honour the best films of 2018 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
I must admit this years Oscars have been the most anticipated by me for many years as what awards will
Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born win and will Olivia Colman and Richard E Grant win awards?
Around 400 invited guests here in this luxury hotel.
We are in the main cinema room that holds 200 and 200 more are watching on screens in other spaces.
Until midnight there is complimentary Piper-Heidsieck champers and canapés and popcorn.
Midnight to 3am was complimentary espresso Martinis and lots of different delicious bowl food.
Also cheese burgers, fish & chips,Thai Curry, salt beef bagels with pickle and cream cheese.
From 3am there was complimentary Bloody Mary's and a survivors breakfast box and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
We watch the red carpet arrivals before the main event.
At 1am the main event opened with a stunning two song medley by Queen with Adam Lambert.
Later on Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga would also perform their superb track "Shallow" together.
Rami Malek won an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury.
In addition to Rami’s win, Bohemian Rhapsody was the top film at this year’s Oscars overall, taking home FOUR awards in total, the remaining three coming from technical categories.
Green Book – another of this awards season’s more controversial offerings – took home the coveted Best Picture prize, while Roma and Black Panther also came out on top in three categories each.
Great to see Olivia Colman win Best Actress but sadly Richard E Grant did not win anything.
An excellent event.

Saturday 23 February 2019.
Happy Birthday to ex Sweet bass player STEVE PRIEST who is 71 today.
One of my first ever gigs was Sweet at The Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park on 21 Dec 1973.
My first of over 50 shows seen at this legendary venue that is now a Brazilian place of worship.

Friday 22 February 2019.
BLUE OYSTER CULT + THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT live at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
I have seen Blue Oyster Cult around 20 times since i attended their debut London show in 1975.
Blue Oyster Cult + Motorhead at Hammersmith Odeon, London 19.10.1975
This was an early Motörhead show as they had formed only a few months earlier.
That show was gig number 71 for me....tonight was gig number 6896 for me...
Blue Oyster Cult have sold over 24 million records worldwide - albums/singles.
They were one of the many rock bands that released great double live albums in the 1970s with
"On Your Feet or on Your Knees "(1975) .
They will be supported by UK blues rockers The Temperance Movement.
The floor standing is busy but there are lots of empty seats in the circle so maybe 3000 out of 5000 here.
A mainly older white male crowd here as expected.
THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for around 45 mins.
They played a good set of blues rock tracks from the three albums they have released.
They have a great sound with hints of The Black Crowes and The Faces.
Singer Phil Campbell is flinging himself around the stage and he has a great blues-rock voice.
A good set.
BLUE OYSTER CULT arrived on stage at 9pm and played for around 1 hour 50 mins.
Original members Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser (lead guitar, vocals) and Eric Bloom (lead vocals, stun guitar), were backed by longtime mates Richie Castellano (keyboards, guitar), Danny Miranda (bass), and Jules Radino (drums).
Definitely a hard rock band, their musical style has often been described as crossing a broad spectrum, ranging from heavy metal, to psychedelic rock, to progressive rock. For a couple of guys in their seventies, Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom still have it.
The first 30 or 40 mins had a few pretty average songs in it then they played more of their classic cuts.
The band played fan faves with the likes of “Godzilla" and “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper).”
Great encores including "Hot Rails to Hell" and "Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll".
Stage production was pretty basic but it was a great show.
Full BOC setlist played tonight...

Italian restaurant & bar chain CARLUCCIO'S has many locations around the UK.
This one has had a refurbishment to celebrate 20 years since the first CARLUCCIO'S opened.
Richmond is one of those nice areas like Chiswick and Wimbledon.
I used to go to Cheeky Pete's Disco in Richmond in the late 1970s/ early 1980s.
Around 150 guests here and a nice buzzy atmosphere.
Two of the waiters sung several cover versions to a backing track which was good fun.
Lots of complimentary drinks and food including Prosecco , gin cocktails, wines and beers.
Lots of delicious Italian bowl food, canapés ,desserts and pastries from their new menu.
www.carluccios.comVisit their website here for more info.

SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS live at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
Slash takes some time off from playing guitar with Guns N has been sold out for ages...
The European tour will support the release of Slash’s fourth solo album LIVING THE DREAM.
I have seen Slash several times with non G N R bands since 1995 when i saw him play in Los Angeles.
I have seen Guns N Roses several times since 1987 when they played their first ever
major London show at Hammersmith Odeon for their classic debut album 'Appetite for Destruction ' .
Looks like the only Guns N Roses track in the setlist will be "Nightrain".
Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons have been unveiled as the special guests.
The Motörhead guitarist, his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla, and vocalist Neil Starr will open for Slash and co.
PHIL CAMPBELL & THE BASTARD SONS arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for around 40 mins.
Phil & his band do have a nice Motörhead type sound.
With the release of 2018s 'The Age of Absurdity', the band now have enough original material to dominate their setlists without completely disregarding the chance to perform a selection of covers.
Their set included a couple of Motörhead gems "Born To Raise Hell" and "Ace Of Spades".
A very good set.
SLASH & his band arrived on stage at 8.50pm and played for around 2 hours 5 mins.
By the time the band arrive on stage the venue is totally rammed full upstairs and downstairs.
Cannot remember when so many people were packed into this venue.
Eagle Rock Productions have several cameras here filming it for a live DVD.
Lots of nifty guitar playing from Slash and some great rock vocals from Myles.
Lots of good solid rockin' tunes but nothing as good as the sole G N R song played tonight "Nightrain".
A very good show.

9.45pm to 11.45pm---after-party at The Haymarket Hotel, London SW1.
Around 300 guests were at this party after the main event.
A very nice touch was the laminate pass for entry which was a picture of a yellow three-wheeler Reliant Robin.
Believe it or not I had a blue three-wheeler Reliant Robin for a year as you could drive one on just a
full motorbike license and you didn't need a full driving license, but it actually helped me to save on driving lessons.
Most of the faces above were here but didn't see Roger Taylor ,Jools Holland, Ray Winstone , Sir Geoff Hurst.
The Dj was playing all classic tracks from the 1980s.
Lots of complimentary food and drinks including Del Boys fave cocktail from back in the day,
Piña Coladas along with those dinky paper umbrellas on top, wines, beers and different food including
burgers, fried chicken, king prawns and canapés.
A great evening.

Tuesday 19 February 2019.
Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has died in Paris, aged 85, Chanel sources have confirmed.
The artistic director for Chanel had looked increasingly frail in recent seasons, and had reportedly suffered ill health in recent weeks.
For the first time in decades Lagerfeld did not come out to take a bow at the Chanel's couture show in Paris in January, something the company attributed to him being tired.

Monday 18 February 2019...6pm to 8pm...

Sunday 17 February 2019...I went to two events tonight...
7.45pm to 9.45pm
AADNEVIK - Autumn/Winter 2019 Show - Whitehall, London SW1.
Day 3 of the 5 days of London Fashion Show.
AADNEVIK is a London based luxury womenswear label as a design partnership between Hila and Kristian Aadnevik, whose defining themes are a blend of opulence, sensuality and gloom.
This was a much better than expected event as it was a full catwalk show presentation.
200 seated with two rows of 50 on each side and I have a nice front row seat.
200 are standing behind the seats.
A cool crowd with lots of glammed up women in the crowd and Philip Sallon was here.
20 photographers at the end of the catwalk.
Nice tunes were played in the background throughout.
At 9pm we have the 20 mins catwalk show that featured nine models and I think three outfits each.
They all looked stunning, mixing short dresses and longer gowns with splits etc.
Complimentary De Watere champers for the reception and at your seat before the catwalk show.
Seated guests got a nice goodie bag which included a Moroccanoil gift set and 200ml De Watere champers.

10pm to 12pm
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL - press/VIP opening night party at The Savoy Hotel , Strand, London WC2.
This musical is on at The Savoy Theatre.
A massive party as 800 folks are on the guest list which takes over The Ballroom, The Riverside Room
and other areas in this famous five star hotel.
DOLLY PARTON joined the cast on stage earlier tonight.
The party started at 9pm so not sure she made it as Dolly did a lot of press before the show.
Very unusual to have a press/vip night on a Sunday but I reckon Dolly is lined up to be a presenter
at The Brit Awards on Wednesday.
All the cast were here and Kelvin Fletcher (Emmerdale) was here until the end.
Celebs watching the musical earlier included Kylie Minogue, Twiggy, Graham Norton, Luke Evans,
Anthea Turner, Lizzie Cundy , Les Dennis and others but i did not see them at the party.
I missed the champers reception for the first hour from 9pm but there were lots of complimentary food
and drinks as five different cocktails, wines, beers and burgers, salmon, canapés and desserts.
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL is getting down to business - with a strictly limited season at The Savoy Theatre.
Starring Louise Redknapp*, Caroline Sheen^, Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen, Bonnie Langford and Brian Conley, the smash-hit musical features a book by the iconic movie’s original screenwriter Patricia Resnick and an Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton.
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy - three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the girls manage to reform their office - or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
Inspired by the cult film and brought to you by Dolly herself, this hilarious new West End production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!
Based on the 20th Century Fox Picture. Originally produced on Broadway by Robert Greenblatt, April 2009. Performed by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe) Limited.
*Due to injury, Louise Redknapp will be joining the show from late March 2019.
^ Caroline Sheen will be performing the role of Violet Newstead until Louise’s return. their website here for more info and to buy tickets.

PICTURE THIS + ETHAM + CHARLOTTE live at The Forum, London.
Picture This are massive back home in Ireland where at the end of March they become the first band
to play five nights at the 13,000 capacity Dublin Arena.
They are touring to promote their second album.
Picture This sold out Shepherds Bush Empire on the last tour and tonight is sold out and they
return to play The Roundhouse at the end of the year.
CHARLOTTE arrived on stage at 7.30pm and played for 30 mins.
A decent enough 30 mins set from this singer-songwriter.
ETHAM arrived on stage at 8.20pm and played for 30 mins.
A decent enough 30 mins set from this singer-singwriter.
It was a good idea to put the supports name on the big screen all through their sets.
By the time the headliners arrive on stage the venue is full of Irish folks.
PICTURE THIS arrived on stage at 9.20pm and played for 80 mins.
They had a big screen showing nice pre-recorded images.
Lots of females here screaming away for the singer.
Lots of Irish flags on display and chants of "Ole, Ole, Ole".
The band were very well rehearsed and the mainly under 30s crowd sang along loudly.
Their pop rock sound is like The Script or Maroon 5 so doubt the critics will like then.
Highlights included "One Drink" and "Take My Hand".
Pretty obvious they will be at Wembley Arena or The 02 Arena in a couple of years.
An enjoyable show.

Happy Birthday to BILLY CORGAN who is 52 today.
Sad news that DICK DALE has passed away.
Dick Dale, "the King of the Surf Guitar" and a pioneering guitarist that inspired a generation of musicians,
has died at the age of 81.
California Rocker first reported that Dale died Sunday. His bassist Sam Bolle confirmed Dale’s death to the Guardian. No cause of death was revealed, but the guitarist suffered from health issues in recent years. In 2010, Dale said he was battling rectal cancer, and in an interview that went viral, Dale said in 2015 that “I can’t stop touring because I will die” due to medical expenses stemming from cancer treatment, diabetes and renal failure. “I have to raise $3,000 every month to pay for the medical supplies I need to stay alive, and that’s on top of the insurance that I pay for,” Dale said at the time.
I saw him play The Garage in London in 1995.

Saturday 16 March 2019.
Trombone Shorty is best known as a trombone and trumpet player but also plays drums, organ, and tuba.
He has released several albums and has worked with many big names including U2 and Jeff Beck.
Support act The Record Company have released two albums.
The Record Company is a Grammy nominated American rock band from Los Angeles, California. The members are Chris Vos (guitar, lead vocals), Alex Stiff (bass, backing vocals), and Marc Cazorla (drums, backing vocals). Their music is influenced by blues musicians like John Lee Hooker, early punk bands like The Stooges, and rock bands like The Rolling Stones. Their sound incorporates slide guitar, distorted bass, a Ludwig drum kit and the vocals of Chris Vos.
A bit of a surprise that tonight is a near sell-out show.
THE RECORD COMPANY arrive on stage at 7.45pm and played for 45 mins.
A crap name for a band i thought, but my friend thought it was a great name.
This blues rock trio have a nice sound going for them. The gritty slide guitar, fuzzed-out bass,
and driving drums along with some nifty harmonica made for a good support set.
TROMBONE SHORTY & ORLEANS AVENUE arrive on stage at 9pm and play for 90 mins.
A nice stage production and there are nine on stage including two female backing singers.
A great live sound with a potent mix of funk, jazz, rock ’n’ roll, soul and blues.
Trombone Shorty is aged 33 and is a charismatic front man as he mixes vocals with his great trombone.
Seeing him at full tilt with the sax player as the band grooved away was great to watch.
There were a couple of cover versions in the set too.
An enjoyable show.

Friday 15 March 2019...I went to two events tonight...
6pm to 7pm
DANNY CLIFFORD photo exhibition "Rock Stars Don't Smile " - private view -
Heath Street Baptist Church, 84 Heath Street, Hampstead, London NW3.
As a world-renowned Rock and Roll photographer, Danny Clifford has spent his career as a fly-on-the-wall to the most iconic musicians of the last 40 years. From his big break as Bob Dylan's official photographer in the 1970s, through his close working relationship with Queen, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse to name but a handful, the stories he has amassed over the years are just as vivid, colourful and dramatic as his photographs. With the title quote from a near-miss scuffle with Liam Gallagher, this is an exhibition of limited edition prints, previously untold stories and an access-all-areas insight into Danny's extensive archive.
Danny is a bit older than me but i have bumped into him loads of times over the past 40 years although
for the last decade he has been kind of semi-retired.
Around 60 classic photos are on display in this stunning setting, with many having a great narrative.
A picture of Keith Moon with a young Zak Starkey.
Danny had dinner with Keith Moon on the day he died.
Quite a few people here i know.
Zak Starkey and John Coghlan turned up when they were on display in Henley-On-Thames last month.
The gallery is 100 yards from Hampstead tube station.
It is on here until 11 April 2019.
Complimentary prosecco and beers for all guests.
www.dannyclifford.comVisit his website here to check out some of his great photos.
The front page photo is of Danny, aged just 20, taken by Bob Dylan on Bob Dylan's private jet in 1978.
7.45pm to 11.15pm
NO. FIFTY CHEYNE - restaurant press review - 50 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London SW3.
This restaurant is hidden away just a few yards from the homes of Mick Jagger, Bryan Adams and others.
Originally opened in 2003 by Sally Greene, who’s also the Founder Director of The Old Vic and proprietor of Ronnie Scott’s, she’s just finished taking the restaurant through a nine-month renovation that will see it reborn as No. Fifty Cheyne.
In the kitchen, she’s recruited Iain Smith who was previously Head Chef at Social Eating House so it’s clear that this is going to be much more than a friendly neighbourhood restaurant. Dishes are set to include the likes of ‘Belted Galloway beef ragout with spatzli, spicy sausage and rose harissa’ and ‘Cornish monkfish, roscoff onion, potato straws with roast chicken broth’. There are plans for a big Sunday menu too which will allow guests to pre-order their favourite roasts such as a whole suckling pig, a rib of beef or a whole salmon.
The ground floor restaurant will seat around 70 and on the upper floor there’s also going to be a 50 seat cocktail bar and ‘drawing room’. Set on Cheyne Walk there are views of the Thames and Cheyne Gardens too so, all in all, this is shaping up to be a very interesting new incarnation of a Chelsea favourite.
The restaurant is full and there is a great buzzy vibe.
The new decor feels like you could be at The Chiltern Firehouse.
We each had a full three course meal along with champers, wines and coffees.
For mains we shared a full Chateaubriand steak which is cooked with a thick cut from the tenderloin filet.
The sharing price is £85 but it was superb and the side dishes will cost extra...the chunky chips were amazing.
Our French waiter (Albert?) was so attentive and really helped the evening along by fussing over us.
Normally the evening would have cost £220 for two so it is pretty steep due to the prime Chelsea location.
We really had a great five star evening here.
www.fiftycheyne.comVisit their website here for more info on the venue.
For the next week they are having a 50% off food soft opening.

FOUR English teams in The Champions League Quarter-Finals draw held tomorrow (Friday).
For the first time in 10 seasons, four teams from one country will compete in the last eight of the Champions League.
Liverpool's victory over Bayern Munich in the last 16 means England will now provide 50% of the quarter-final teams in Europe's top club competition, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham the other Premier League sides present....pretty amazing.

Thursday 14 March 2019.
Sad news that DANNY KUSTOW, the guitarist best known for his work in the Tom Robinson Band, has died.
The news was confirmed by Robinson on Facebook, where he said that Kustow passed away in hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.
I saw him play many great gigs with Tom Robinson 40 years ago.
Happy Birthday to JONA LEWIE who is 72 today.
Jona Lewie is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his 1980 UK hits "You'll Always Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties" and "Stop the Cavalry".

Wednesday 13 March 2019.
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND live at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
I am back to see their second show at this venue.
Last night i was stalls standing and tonight i am front circle.
Pretty much the same kind of crowd, including lots of Americans.
Their UK & European booking agent Rod MacSween is here again.
The merch stand is doing a roaring trade again.
Again it is a mammoth set of 2 hours 45 mins on stage.
I spoke to a hardcore fan who said they rehearse 100 songs for each tour.
The drummer was again amazing and that kit of his was just perfection.
Oddly his drum solo was accompanied by a flute solo???
Quite a few of the songs ended up being 10 mins of muso twiddling.
For me they are a great live band to watch but i wouldn't buy their albums.
Building up great connections with their fans over radio play has paid off for them.
Another enjoyable show.

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND live at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
DMB play the first of two shows at this venue.
DMB are an American band who can headline arenas and stadiums back home.
They sold out two nights at Madison Square Garden in November 2018.
These Hammersmith shows are the only UK gigs on their European Tour.
They headlined The 02 Arena in 2010 and 2015.
Their only Top 40 hit single in the UK was "The Space Between" in 2001.
They are known to play lengthy shows of 2 hours 30 mins plus.
The group's most recent album, 2018's Come Tomorrow, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making Dave Matthews Band the first group to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at the peak.As of 2018, the Dave Matthews Band has sold more than 100 million tickets since its inception and a collective 91 million CDs and DVDs combined.
As expected there were loads of Americans in the venue tonight.
A nice atmosphere as it is stalls standing tonight.
Also here was legendary live music booking agent Rod MacSween (DMB are one of his acts).
DMB arrived on stage at 7.40pm and played for a mammoth 2 hours 45 mins.
A nice big stage production with lots of lights and a big screen mixing live footage with pre-recorded images.
All the band are top notch musicians as they mixed rock, funk, jazz, pop etc with nice sax and trumpet.
Singer/guitarist Dave stuck to what he does best: pouring all of his energy and talent into creating often-freewheeling live renditions of a grab bag of songs from a career that spans 25 years.
They also slip in a couple of good cover versions at each show.
They are well known for never playing the same setlist twice.
The show ticked along nicely and the long set was enjoyable.

SHEPHERDS BUSH EMPIRE opened 25 years ago today as a fully fledged gig venue
with an invite only show by Soundgarden on 12 March 1994 which i attended.
I have been to hundreds of gigs at this great venue.
Type Shepherds Bush Empire in my venue search to see the bands i saw here from 1994 to 2002.
Also four bands before that in the 1970s when Old Grey Whistle Test specials were filmed there.
Happy Birthday to PETER DOHERTY who is 40 today.
Happy Birthday to Blur's GRAHAM COXON who is 50 today.
Happy Birthday to Iron Maiden's STEVE HARRIS who is 63 today.
Happy Birthday to singer-songwriter JAMES TAYLOR who is 71 today.

Sunday 10 March 2019...6pm to 9pm...
My band GUN CONTROL with me on drums had our first rehearsal of the year in North Acton.
We went through the ten songs we played at our comeback gig and started work on two new songs.
Sounded pretty good considering it was our first meeting since the gig four months ago.
Hopefully we can sort out our next gig in Acton around April/May.

Saturday 09 March 2019.
DODGY + BABYBIRD + TONY WRIGHT live at Shepherds Bush Empire, London.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough, gold-selling second album, Homegrown, 90s indie legends, Dodgy will playing the record in its entirety on a headline tour. They’ll also be joined by ‘You’re Gorgeous’ singers, Babybird and Terrorvision frontman, Tony Wright.
I saw Dodgy three times in the 1990s including a show where they supported Neil Young.
Dodgy had five Top 20 UK hit singles in the 1990s.
Level 2 and 3 are closed as around 800 tickets sold out of 2000.
Lots of boozed up folks here reliving the Brit Pop era of the 1990s.
TONY WRIGHT arrived on stage at 7.25pm and played for 30 mins.
He played an acoustic set with plenty of Yorkshire humour.
The final track was Terrorvision's big No 2 hit 'Tequila' from 1999.
Good to hear it but it sounds better when the band play it.
BABYBIRD arrived on stage at 8.05pm and played for 40 mins.
Babybird who are still fronted by Stephen Jones played a confusing set.
Never one of the trendier bands of the 1990s, he was full of confrontation tonight.
The darker lyrics and his sharp tongue throwing barbed criticisms at the crowd between songs.
Big hit "You're Gorgeous" was performed half heartedly and when he left the stage he was still moaning.
They were giving out a freebie five track cd by Babybird at the merch stand.
DODGY arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 90 mins.
The crowd knew quite a lot of the songs so sang loudly along to them.
Great to hear their hits "Going Out for the Summer" and "Good Enough".
During the encore they dedicated a song to Keith Flint.
A good set.
Full Dodgy setlist played tonight....

Happy Birthday to guitarist JIM CREGAN who is 73 today.
Friday 08 March 2019.
Happy Birthday to GARY NUMAN who is 61 today.

Thursday 07 March 2019...I went to two events tonight...
6.15pm to 8.15pm
PHILLIPS GALLERY - auction - 30 Berkeley Square, Mayfair , London W1.
A nice buzzy crowd as maybe 200 guests are seated and 100 are standing.
Around 20 phone bidders too at the sides.
29 lots for their 20th Century & Contemporary Art Sale from 7pm to 8pm.
A mad contrast that sometimes i struggle to get my head around.
When you wander around the West End you will always see a few homeless people and
people begging for your small change and then you go to an auction like this and someone
can spend millions on a painting.
Lots went from just over £50k to the highest which was a staggering £13.5 million for a
painting by Gerhard Richter (oil on canvas from 1963).
Complimentary Ruinart champers for all guests.
10.30pm to 12pm
WAITRESS - press/vip - opening night party at The Crypt, Trafalgar Square, London WC2.
A big crowd of over 300 guests here after the show that was held earlier at The Adelphi Theatre.
All the cast turned up here but didn't see any of the main guests who attended the show earlier including
Cuba Gooding Jr, Sir Michael Caine, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Beverley Knight.
Canadian musician David Foster (has worked with many bands over the past 40 years) was on hand to support his fiancée Katherine McPhee as the leading lady wowed audiences on the opening night of the hit musical Waitress.
A dj is playing tunes in the background.
Complimentary prosecco, wines, beers, bowl food, canapés and slices of various cakes.
We left at midnight but it was on until 1am.
About Waitress -
The musical is based on the 2007 film of the same name, written by Adrienne Shelly. It tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, a waitress in an abusive relationship with her husband Earl. When Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she begins an affair with her gynecologist, Dr. Jim Pomatter. Looking for ways out, she sees a pie contest and its grand prize as her chance.

THE ROLLING STONES have partnered with Swedish brand Happy Socks, launching a limited edition spring/summer 2019 sock collection inspired by the British rock band's iconic tongue and lip logo. Happy Socks took to Instagram to reveal the collaboration, posting 'It’s finally time to step into the spotlight with one of the greatest bands of all time: The Rolling Stones. The collection, available in stores and online, features their iconic artwork with a colourful twist for an electric selection of patterns'.

Wednesday 06 March 2019.
KEITH URBAN + KERRI WATT live at The Forum, London.
Keith plays a warm up show before headlining The 02 Arena a couple of days later.
Keith is massive in America and has sold more than 20 million albums and has won four Grammy Awards.
He is on a world tour to support of his eleventh studio album 'Graffiti U' (released in 2018)
The UK shows are his first over here for a decade.
Keith is married to actress Nicole Kidman.
Keith has just completed an arena tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Not many people under the age of 30 here for this night of new country rock.
Support act KERRI WATT arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for 30 mins.
Kerri is a Scottish singer-songwriter who played tracks from her debut album.
She certainly looks great , with her long blonde hair, slim tall model type body and hot pants.
Some decent songs that went down well with the crowd.
Oddly enough from a distance she looked like Nicole Kidman.
KEITH URBAN arrived on stage at 8.40pm and played for a nice long 2 hours 10 mins.
This is the first time i have seen him live and i don't know any of his material.
He is a lot more popular live than his record sales as he has not had any Top 40 hits in the UK.
A nice stage production with a big screen showing pre-recorded images.
Lots of easygoing and friendly stage banter from Keith that his loyal female fans love.
Support act Kerri Watt joined him for one song.
Near the end he played three songs on a small podium in the floor standing area that was great.
Lots of good solid catchy songs where he sounded a bit like a country rock version of Bryan Adams.
Ticker-tape fell over the crowd for the last song of the main set.
An enjoyable show.
