Toughest defender he played against was Tony Adams.
I asked a question "can you come back to QPR to help us out?".
Peter said "QPR holds a special place in his heart as he grew up in Ealing and many of his friends
were and still are QPR season ticket holders".
"Scoring those goals at QPR when i first started my career still gives me goosebumps when thinking about it?".
I watched him for a year at QPR in 2000/2001 before he moved on to bigger clubs.

Thursday 12 September 2019....7pm to 1.30am...
HARD ROCK CAFE PICCADILLY CIRCUS - Grand Opening Party - Piccadilly Circus, London W1.
This was a massive party for around 700 guests.
A prime location means loads of tourists gawping outside wondering what's going on inside.
At 7pm instead of cutting the ribbon , they smashed eight guitars outside the venue in front of the crowd.
One of the eight people doing the smashing was HRC legend Rita Gilligan MBE who has been at Hard Rock Cafe since it opened in London in 1971 and has been at over 100 other grand HRC openings worldwide.
Only downside was not many rock stars here considering all the music memorabilia on display.
Only musician i saw was James Walsh (Starsailor) and a couple of those reality tv girls.
A female dj playing tunes in the background.
Loads of complimentary food and drinks all night.
Drinks included a full bar excluding champers , five different cocktails including espresso martins,
spirits including Jack Daniels, prosecco, wines and beers.

A fantastic full on proper party.
-------------------
It looks good for this venue to be putting on exclusive live gigs like their original sister branch down the road.
Bearing in mind their original site only held 150 upstairs i saw some amazing low key gigs there including

Monday 09 September 2019.
Did you watch BBC1 tv series "Peaky Blinders" last night?
It features quite a career change for one of the lead characters.
Paul Anderson came to prominence for portraying Arthur Shelby Jr. in Peaky Blinders.
In the 1990s he used to a be a ticket tout outside London venues.
He served me up many cheap tickets and we always had a quick chat on how things were going.

Sunday 08 September 2019.
How much do top models earn a year? a million? two million? think again.
Cara Delevingne earned over £21.5 million last year making her the UK’s highest paid supermodel - and earning over double her nearest rivals.

Saturday 07 September 2019...I went to two events tonight...
England 4 Bulgaria 0...Wembley Stadium...5pm kick-off...
A massive crowd of over 82,000 are here.
England players certainly looked a bit lacklustre in the first half.
England looked far livelier in the second half as Kane completed his hat-trick with two penalties, while Jordan Pickford pulled off an excellent save to keep a clean sheet. The win has put England top of Group A and Southgate’s side will now face Kosovo on Tuesday evening.
An easy win for England.
then
TARA REZ BAND + THE GLORIA'S live at The George & Dragon, Acton, London W3.
My old mucker Lewie The Bastard is celebrating his 60th birthday in West London.
Like myself, many of my friends are reaching 60 this year.
Great to see so many other punk rockin' chums here.
THE GLORIA'S arrived on stage at 9.40pm and played for 40 mins.
The Glorias are a five-piece punk-rock-n-roll band from the South Coast.
They feature Bill Gaynor on guitar who is also in my band Gun Control.
They played some nifty tracks from their 2018 album "Life'll Get Ya".
They also played a good cover of Gun Control "No Mercy".
Bill is throwing windmills on the floor as he gets up close to the crowd.
TARA REZ BAND arrived on stage at 10.35pm and played for 30 mins.
First thing Tara said was due to other bands coming on late they would be playing a shorter set than
usual due to the 11pm curfew.
On bass is John "Segs" Jennings whose main band is Ruts D.C.
Tara was singer in The Duel who had a few albums out.
Her blonde peroxide hair and catchy punk tunes make a great combination.

A fun evening.

Saturday 31 August 2019.
THE HOLLYWOOD BRATS + THE VULZ live at Nells Jazz & Blues, West Kensington, London.
Proto-Punk / Glam innovators The Hollywood Brats are to play their first gig in over 40 years.
The group was championed by Keith Moon, who said they were the best band he had ever seen, and in 1973 they recorded an LP for NEMS Records.
It was recorded at Olympic Studios, London, England, December 1973, January 1974.
At the time they were like a British version of The New York Dolls.
They split up in 1974 and oddly their only album was released after they had split up.
In 2015,singer Andrew Matheson published a memoir of the band, Sick On You: The Disastrous Story of Britain's Great Lost Punk Band, named after one of the Hollywood Brats' songs.
www.nellsjazzandblues.comVisit the Nell's website here to buy tickets for upcoming gigs at Nell's.
----------------------
This venue is one of the three venues currently owned by live music legend Vince Power.
I came here last year for a great show by Van Morrison.
No need to worry about will anybody be interested in this group who split up so long ago as
a sign on the entrance says the 400 capacity club is sold out.
Quite a few here I know have made an effort to see this unique gig happening.
A couple of them mentioned they only found out about the gig after seeing it mentioned on my website.
In the crowd are Sir Bob Geldof and Gaye Advert.
THE VULZ arrived on stage at 8.15pm and played for 40 mins.
The Vulz played a good set of uptempo catchy garage rock n roll tunes from their debut album.
They have a singer who doesn't take himself too seriously and a guitarist playing some nifty licks.
They finished their set with a very nice cover of The Boys classic "First Time".
THE HOLLYWOOD BRATS arrived on stage at 9.10pm and played for 60 mins.
Andrew on vocals still looks and sounds like a proper rock n roll star with tons of charisma.
On keyboards is Casino Steel who was an original member before he joined The Boys.
It soon became hot n sweaty as folks crowded around the stage.
Great to see long time fan Sir Bob Geldof join them on stage for a song.
Not the longest of sets as they only had the one album...but lots of the album great tracks played.
This comeback gig was a total success and surely they could easily be back here in December.
Hollywood Brats setlist included...
Tumble with Me
Chez Maximes
Zurich 17
Vampire Nazi (new single)
Courtesan
Sweet Little Sixteen (Chuck Berry cover)
Nightmare
I Need You (The Kinks cover ) (with Sir Bob Geldof on co-vocals)

Friday 30 August 2019.
Rock legend NICK MASON steps in to save Bolton Wanderers F.C. from being wound up.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Football Ventures (Whites) had agreed a deal to buy the beleaguered club.
Bolton's immediate future has been secured, which is fantastic news whoever you support.
A £10million deal has been sealed by a consortium reportedly involving Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason.

Wednesday 28 August 2019.
PEACHES live at The Royal Festival Hall, London.
Peaches, now aged 52 , has released six studio albums.
Peaches has been noted for her stage costumes and flamboyant sense of style. Her looks are often both nostalgic and futuristic; aggressive and glamorous; and push the limits of gender identity.
This show is titled "There's Only One Peach with the Hole in the Middle".
I first saw Peaches in 2002 when she supported Suede at this same venue.
Peaches was chosen by David Bowie as it was part of his Meltdown Festival at RFH.
I saw The David Bowie show here around a week after Peaches played.
-------------------
The show lasted around 1 hour 50 mins with a drag act singing the first two songs.
This was one of those visually mega shows from start to finish.
With band and her dancers there were over 20 people on stage for many songs.
Her mostly female band included a brass section and a string section.
Several costume changes and some lasers too.
Peaches sung on a podium for most songs and surfed the crowd.
There were three stage extensions which was a first for this venue.
Very naughty suggestive lyrics throughout the show.
Lots of boobs on display from Peaches and her female dancers and her male dancers were bare chested.
The music was bit samey — a mix of heavy hip-hop beats, punk-thrash and glam rock among other things —but there’s consolation in spectacle. In a pre-record of "Kick It" with Iggy Pop, his videoed kick sends her flying hammily off-stage. A trapeze artist with a laser butt-plug is lit from underneath by dancers wearing strobing thongs. A band of violins, drums, trumpets and a tuba, play throughout, sending up the mores of the college band aesthetic with relish. A group of dancers from New Orleans cavort with a bevy semi-naked contemporary dancers. It’s anarchy. It's also radically democratic.
Come the end of the show, she thanks every member of her group. Musicians, dancers, producers, costumiers, techies… All get a look in and join her on stage for a dance.
You came out thinking...wow, that was a helluva show....
Full Peaches setlist played tonight...

Tuesday 27 August 2019.
Happy Birthday to Sex Pistols bass player GLEN MATLOCK who is 63 today.
Glen brought out a great solo album last year titled "Good to Go".

Sunday 25 August 2019.
In the afternoon i went to the cinema to see two really good films.
TOY STORY 4
The film directly follows Toy Story 3, as Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their other toy friends have found new appreciation living with Bonnie. They are joined by Forky, a spork that has been made into a toy, and embark on a road trip adventure.
The film has grossed $1 billion worldwide, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2019 as well as the 36th highest-grossing film of all time and the seventh highest grossing animated film of all time. Like its predecessors, Toy Story 4 received praise for its story, humour, emotion, animation, and vocal performances.
Basically every Toy wants to be loved by a Kid.
------------------
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
Quentin Tarantino latest blockbuster is the must see film of the summer.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood depicts an aging Hollywood actor and his stunt double as successful new actor Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) moves in next door.
The film is based on the real-life killing of Tate by disciples of the Manson Family cult.
A great soundtrack featuring cool tracks from the 1969 era that the film is based in.
On release it got loads of five star reviews from the likes of NME, Time Out, The Times etc.
--------------
Quentin Tarantino is my fave film director i reckon.
I have seen his Inglorious Bastards film over a dozen times but still love watching it.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are both excellent in this film.
Damian Lewis has a small part as Michael Caine but uncannily looks and talks like him.
Great to see all the big old American cars and the fashions of the day.
A gory twist at the end which was great.

Sunday 25 August 2019.
Happy Birthday to KISS bass player GENE SIMMONS who is 70 today.
I have already been to over 100 gigs this year.
Best shows of the year so far for me for were the two KISS gigs i saw in July.

Saturday 24 August 2019.
The Coral Challenge Cup Final (Sat 24 Aug, KO 3pm) is Rugby League’s showpiece occasion at the iconic Wembley Stadium. This year’s Final sees a showdown between St Helens and the Warrington Wolves.
Following the Coral Challenge Cup Final, on the hallowed Wembley turf, Sheffield Eagles and Widnes Vikings will battle it out to win the inaugural AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final (KO 5:30pm).
This will be the first rugby match i have attended for many years.
I used to go see rugby union team London Wasps when they shared Loftus Road with QPR between 1996 and 2002.
----------------------
Upstairs in Level 5 is half empty but still a big crowd of around 60,000 for the main game.
At least 75% of the crowd left after the first game.
For rugby and NFL you can bring alcohol in to your seats...you cannot do that with football....
It's Warrington's cup final. Stung here 12 months ago as heavy favourites, they've come back in the underdog role and done what Catalans did to them....Final whistle: St Helens 4-18 Warrington.
In the other game....
1895 Cup final: Sheffield Eagles beat Widnes Vikings 36-18 to win inaugural competition. Sheffield Eagles twice came from behind to beat Widnes at Wembley and win the inaugural 1895 Cup.
An enjoyable day of watching rugby.

Thursday 22 August 2019.
ANGEL - feat. Punky Meadows and Frank DiMino live at The Underworld, Camden, London.
with support from A New Tomorrow...tickets are £30 each.
ANGEL still feature original members Punky Meadows (guitar) and Frank DiMino (vocals).
ANGEL were discovered in 1975 by Kiss bass player Gene Simmons performing at a nightclub and were
eventually signed to the same label as Kiss, Casablanca.
Angel's image was of dressing in all white.
Angel never achieved mass commercial success but acquired a following as a cult band.
I bought their two debut albums when they came out in 1975 and 1976.
Amazingly Angel played their first ever UK shows only last year but i sadly missed the London show
as I was committed to seeing Suede at Hammersmith Apollo.
www.theunderworldcamden.co.ukVisit The Underworld website here for more info and to buy tickets.
---------------------
In the same week that The Borderline closes, it is great that superb club venues like The Underworld
are still putting on quality rock gigs. I have been to loads of gigs here with the first one being
The Quireboys in 1993 and the highlight gig would have to be The Foo Fighters secret gig in June 2006.
Support band A NEW TOMORROW arrived on stage at 8pm and played for 30 mins.
They played a good solid set of tracks from their debut album "Universe" which is
released on 06 Dec 2019 via Frontiers Music....the singer had a great voice...
I must admit i can hardly believe that I will be finally seeing Angel play live in London.
I feel i am being transported back to my 16 year old self who read Sounds music magazine in 1975.
ANGEL arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 95 mins.
A stunning entrance by the band as all six members appear wearing trademark white outfits among the dry ice.
All the band were really tight and giving it 100% and are clearly enjoying themselves.
Punky Meadows and Frank DiMino still have plenty of rock star swagger.
Frank told some stories around their recording sessions in the 1970s.
I must say a few words about their incredible drummer who had a basic four piece kit plus cymbals but
was a total powerhouse as he sweated buckets throughout the show.
The show built up nicely to their big two tracks at the end "Rock & Rollers" and the encore
was their anthemic classic "Tower" which was superb.
A great show.
Could it be possible Angel will now be playing annual shows in the UK?...I hope so...
Full Angel setlist played tonight...

--------------------
Over the past decade i have had odd nights of roughing it in a car for a day or two at festivals
but this weekend was my first three days of proper camping on the trot for at least ten years.
Let's see how i get on.
Lots of rain on the Friday but Saturday and Sunday was nice and sunny.
FRIDAY was 6pm to 1am
No bands on the main stage tonight.
Due to the rain i stayed in the Disco Den tent which was good fun as it had 80s musical bingo,
then 80s Karaoke and then finishing with a couple of hours of Silent Disco for around 600 punters.
SATURDAY was 1pm to 1am
There was some amazing fancy dress outfits worn by many of the crowd over the weekend.
Every act had use of the two big side screens that showed live footage.
THE UNDERTONES arrived on stage at 1.30pm and played for around 30 mins.
Feargal is not there but they do feature original members.
Loads of great catchy gems played including "Jimmy Jimmy" and "Teenage Kicks".
THE DIRE STRAITS EXPERIENCE arrived on stage at 2.30pm and played for around 30 mins.
The band feature Chris White - saxophonist who toured with Dire Straits from 1985–1995, and who has played with many bands and artists, including Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, Chris De Burgh and Mick Jagger.
They played a decent set of Dire Straits classics.
JOHNNY HATES JAZZ arrived on stage at 3.40pm and played for around 30 mins...not my cup of tea...
UB40 feat Ali Campbell and Astro arrived on stage at 4.45pm and played for around 40 mins.
Lots of great hits played and they were perfectly matched with the afternoon sunshine.
TOYAH sung a couple of her hits.
KIM APPLEBY sung a couple of her hits.
TIFFANY sung a couple of her hits.
HEATHER SMALL arrived on stage at 6.45pm and played four great tracks in her 20 mins set.
"One Night in Heaven", "Search for The Hero", "Proud" and "Moving on Up".
HEAVEN 17 arrived on stage at 7.20pm and played for around 30 mins.
Lots of good electro pop tunes played in their set.
LULU arrived on stage at 8.25pm and played for around 40 mins.
She got annoyed with sound problems at the start but soon got in her stride with good versions of
"Relight My Fire", "The Man With The Golden Gun" and of course " Shout".
THE FOUR TOPS arrived on stage at 9.30pm and played for 60 mins.
They still have an original member playing in their line-up and the smart suits are still there.
Lots of their great classic Motown tunes played in their set.
From 11pm to 1am we had a good ole boogie in the Silent Disco tent.
SUNDAY was 1pm to 1am
FROM THE JAM arrived on stage at 1.30pm and played for 30 mins.
Lots of gems from The Jam played in their set.
THE NEVILLE STAPLE BAND arrived on stage at 2.30pm and played for 30 mins.
He played a couple of solo tunes along a few gems from his time in The Specials.
THE SELECTER arrived on stage at 3.30pm and played around 30 mins.
They played all their great ska hits in their set including "On My Radio".
THE WAILERS arrived on stage at 4.30pm and played for around 45 mins.
Lots of Bob Marley classics played in their set.
A Britain's Got Talent singer sang a couple of tunes.
DR & THE MEDICS played a couple of their hits.
HAZEL O'CONNOR played a couple of her hits.
MIDGE URE arrived on stage at 5.40pm and played for 30 mins.
Five of the six songs played were Ultravox gems.
If I Was
Fade to Grey (Visage song)
All Stood Still (Ultravox song)
Vienna (Ultravox song)
Hymn (Ultravox song)
Dancing With Tears in My Eyes (Ultravox song)
PAUL YOUNG arrived on stage at 6.40pm and played for around 30 mins.
He started off a bit croaky but great tunes played including "Wherever I Lay My Hat"
"Come Back And Stay" and "Every Time You Go Away".
BELINDA CARLISLE arrived on stage at 7.15pm and played for around 30 mins.
She played all her catchy hits including "Heaven Is a place on Earth".
KATHY SLEDGE OF THE ORIGINAL SISTER SLEDGE arrived on stage at 8.10pm for her 60 mins set.
She played all the great Sister Sledge disco classics along with some cover versions.
THE WATERBOYS arrived on stage at 9.40pm for their 75 mins.
Michael Bolton cancelled just a day or two before the gig and The Waterboys stepped in.
That was a great result as I much prefer The Waterboys to Michael Bolton.
A really good set included "Whole of The Moon" and a cover of "Purple Rain".
Another great day of live music.
Again we had a fun time in the Silent Disco tent from 11pm to 1am.
---------------------
Packed up the tent around 10am to head home after a tiring but good vibes festival

Friday 16 August 2019.
Happy Birthday to MADONNA who is 61 today.

Thursday 15 August 2019...5.30pm to 9.15pm...
BYRON - summer boat party - Temple Pier, London WC2.
Byron Hamburgers , trading as Byron, is a British restaurant chain offering a casual dining service with a focus on hamburgers. The chain was founded in 2007.
The burger chain is UK-based, with, as of 2019, 53 locations, 40 of which are in London.
---------------------
Nice and sunny today, even though yesterday was rainy and gloomy.
Around 80 guests on the boat as we slowly travel down the Thames to Byron, Greenwich.
Under Tower Bridge and past all the many other sights.
There are dance and disco songs being played in the background.
Throughout the evening there is complimentary prosecco, wines and beers.
From 6.45pm to 8.15pm we were at Byron , Greenwich where everyone had a complimentary
choice of yummy burger & fries on their outdoor Terrace.
A female with an acoustic guitar played a set of cover songs in the background.
We then travel back to Embankment Pier.
All guests were given a Byron t-shirt.
A very enjoyable event.

KEANE + MARIE WHITE live at The Royal Albert Hall, London.
Keane play the second of two sold out shows at this iconic venue.
Keane on tour to coincide with the release their fifth studio album "Cause and Effect" in Sept 2019.
The album went straight in at number two in the UK charts (Liam G went in at number one to beat it).
Keane have sold over 10 million albums worldwide.
They’ve won 2 Brit Awards, 4 Q Awards and an Ivor Novello.
I have seen Keane a few times since their debut album came out.
I saw Keane earlier this month when they played The Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus opening party.
------------------
MARIE WHITE arrived on stage at 7.30pm and played for 30 mins.
Great that Keane have got a support act with them that also comes from their area of Hastings.
A decent set of songs that went down well with the crowd.
KEANE arrived on stage at 8.30pm and played for a nice long 2 hours 15 mins.
When i saw Keane earlier this month it was a nice intimate show for an hour but tonight is the full show
which has a full length set and a very nice stage production where all the band are playing on a two-tiered
platform that lights up underneath with different colours, along with lots of lights and a big screen showing images.
Keane seemed very resurgent at The Royal Albert Hall.
Reduced to lending his choirboy vocals to The Snowman’s Walking In The Air for a 2017 Christmas album, Tom Chaplin was thrilled to be back fronting the group after their six-year hiatus.
A lean 40-year-old with a greying quiff, the energetic singer was a testament to clean living following his admission of past addiction problems.
A few songs plodded a bit but there were loads of their great hits played in a very entertaining show.
In many ways i enjoyed it much more than seeing "the cooler" Wilco show last night.
A great show.

Saturday 28 September 2019.
WILCO + OHMME live at Hammersmith Apollo, London.
"Ode to Joy " is the eleventh studio album from American indie rockers Wilco, released on October 4, 2019.
This is the last night of their month long UK & European Tour.
Their 4th album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" from 2001/2002 sold over 500,000 copies, and to date remains Wilco's best selling album."Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was met with wide critical acclaim: it was named one of the 100 greatest albums of all time by Q Magazine and Rolling Stone rated it at 493 of their 500 Greatest Albums of all Time, in May 2012.
It reached number 13 in the American Billboard Top 200 chart.
-------------------
Not sold out tonight but a security mate told me 4000 out of 5000 tickets sold.
Pretty impressive considering they have never had any Top 40 hit singles in the UK.
There is floor standing for a better atmosphere.
OHMME (not the best band name is it?) on stage at 7.30pm for a 30 mins set.
OHMME (formerly known as Homme) is a two-piece rock band from Chicago, composed of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist duo Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart formed in 2014.Matt Carroll plays drums. They released a self-titled EP in 2017, and put out their debut full-length album, Parts, on Joyful Noise Recordings in 2018.
A quirky guitar based sound and a few interesting tracks including "Water".
WILCO on stage at 8.30pm and play a long set of 2 hours 15 mins.
This is my first time seeing them and i do not know any of their material.
All I have seen of them is a couple of times on Jools Holland tv show.
All the bands equipment is pushed to the front of the stage.
Wilco audience nod gently along during the tracks then applaud loudly at the end.
Singer Jeff Tweedy has admitted that Neil Young has been a huge influence on him and
" At Least That's What You Said " features the finest raggedy rock riff Neil Young never wrote.
"Via Chicago" is great as it features some mental off-kilter drumming.
Not much chat from Jeff Tweedy as the band focus on the music being played.
A good show.

ASHLEY McBRYDE + SEAN McCONNELL live at Shepherds Bush Empire, London.
GRAMMY-nominated country artist, Ashley McBryde, will perform her biggest solo headline shows this side of the atlantic at the end of summer, in support of her highly-acclaimed debut album, Girl Going Nowhere.
I saw her perform in October 2018 at this same venue as a support act.
--------------------
Tonight the show is fully sold out.
It is a country show so plenty of checked shirts and denim worn by the crowd.
SEAN McCONNELL arrived on stage at 8pm for his 45 mins solo acoustic set.
Sean is a singer and songwriter who developed his chops in the coffee houses in Boston before landing in Nashville for college and then a highly successful career as a songwriter for Warner/Chappell Publishing.
He has released several albums and his songs went down well with the crowd.
ASHLEY McBRYDE & band arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 90 mins.
Like the last time I saw her , Ashley has a great connection with her fans when on stage.
Not only was the applause raucous but during several the audience participation reached such a level that McBryde withdrew from the mic to let her fans take over. Word perfect and in good tune, they belted out ‘Fat and Famous’, ‘A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega’ and of course, ‘Girl Goin’ Nowhere’. Whoever told her “they know your songs” advised well.
The lyrics performed with a deep sincerity. It wasn’t so much showbiz but the product of years on the road. McBryde knows how to connect with her audience.
McBryde also puts country music into a very modern context. There’s love, heartbreak and broken lives.
I chuckled with the chorus line to 'Fat and Famous' as Ashley and crowd sang 'You got Fat, I got Famous'.
An enjoyable show.

Happy Birthday to BRYAN FERRY who is 74 today.

Wednesday 25 September 2019...I went to two events tonight...
5.30pm to 7pm
SPIRITLAND - showcase - The Southbank Centre, London SE1.
Spiritland, the new 180-cover restaurant at the prestigious performing arts venue, intends to be a “temple to music” and has been designed to look like a 1970s recording studio to emphasise its world-class sound system.
From the team behind the Spiritland bar and cafe in King's Cross, the restaurant boasts custom speakers from bespoke workshop Living Voice. Its interior is meant to emphasise diners’ sonic experience, with decor also inspired by talk show sets, featuring rounded leather booths and custom wall and ceiling panels.
It opened several months ago, it used to be a branch of Canteen.
Every night in the main room they play a classic album and a dj performs.
This Sunday Jarvis Cocker is holding a talk there.
Complimentary drinks and food tonight included a choice of three nice cocktails, wines, beers, bowl food and canapés.
It is ideal to visit here for a couple of drinks before a gig upstairs at The Royal Festival Hall.

Around 250 guests here in the stunning Atrium of The Queens and The Royal Family's bankers.
20 pieces of art are being auctioned off to benefit THE WILLOW FOUNDATION.
The Willow Foundation was started 20 years ago by football legend Bob Wilson who is here tonight.
They arrange special days out for seriously ill people between the ages of 16 and 40.
Bob Wilson's daughter died of cancer aged just 32.
At around 7.30pm we have the auction for around 30 mins.
The lots went for between 5k and 20k.
Artists Rankin and Mark Wallinger helped get the auction started.

Tuesday 24 September 2019.
GEORGE EZRA + LILY MOORE live at The Royal Albert Hall, London.
This was the first of two sold out shows for George at this iconic venue.
George Ezra will cap off his ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ tour with two shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with all the proceeds going to mental health awareness charity Mind.
George had a number one hit with "Shotgun" in 2018 and his other hits include "Budapest" and "Paradise".
Both his albums have gone to number one in the UK.
In February 2019, he won the Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist.
In March 2019, his UK tour included two headline shows at The 02 Arena.
-------------------
LILY MOORE & band arrived on stage at 7.40pm for their 30 mins set.
Lily is the daughter of guitar legend GARY MOORE who sadly died in Feb 2011.
Lily busked on the streets of Brighton before signing a record deal with Virgin EMI.
She played half a dozen decent songs and had a bit of an Amy Winehouse type vibe to her.
GEORGE EZRA & band arrived on stage at 8.45pm for their 85 mins set.
A nice stage production where all the band members are on podiums behind George.
A three piece brass section were good as they moved to the front with George every so often.
Throughout the set each track is introduced by George with his friendly, warm charm, the likeability factor is set at maximum, he’s everyone’s friend. There is this permanent smile on his face (wouldn’t you with 2 number one albums under your belt, a Brit Award and selling out Arenas at 26 years old).
George is clearly happy to be playing this venue as he said he has seen a few acts here including Bob Dylan,
so George plays a Bob Dylan song.
The excitable crowd sing-a-long loudly to most of the tracks.
For the encore there are 25 lanterns above the floor standing changing colours, along with ticker-tape.
An enjoyable show.

MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY - press review - Building 6 at The 02 Arena complex, London.
On arrival at The O2 you follow the restaurant corridor, go past the cinema and bowling alley, and Building 6 is on the right and the blue door for MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY is just before you get to the ICON outlet.
This used to be a basic rectangular dance space , but they have made a stunning job with the decor inside.
The entire venue looks like a full on Greek Taverna , with different seating levels.
It may a rainy Monday night but the venue is totally full with all tables taken for the 500 capacity.
BBC Radio legend Paul Gambaccini is here at one of the tables.
Abba stars Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus attended the launch party last Thursday.
This ‘immersive’ live show of Abba’s greatest hits, combined with four course Greek dinner, drinks and a vigorous disco at the end, is the latest brainchild of Abba co-founder Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Plenty of entertaining storytelling featuring Nikos and the family and relationships.
Waiting staff buzz around loading tables with soft bread and platters of olives, tzatziki and taramasalata, the first of four courses. Some are wearing face mics. Debbie the chef (face mic) tells me that the charred octopus in ouzo starter is her speciality. Our waitress is asking me "how long are we in Greece for? " ,
I play along and say "we have booked with Thomas Cook so not sure when our return flight home will be".
There is an army of staff , with many doubling up as serving staff and performing or dancing with the band.
The evening is split into three acts for the show and you have each food course between each act.
At 8pm we have Act 0ne and the first batch of over 30 Abba timeless songs played throughout the evening.
At 8.30pm was mains that featured Lamb Kleftiko and Beef Flank with Mediterranean sauce and sides.
At 9.15pm we have Act Two
At 9.45pm we have dessert of orange cake , baklava and coffee.
At 10.05pm we have Act Three
At 10.30pm we have an Abba disco with a podium set up on the floor for the keenest dancers.
Tickets are not cheap ( from £135 upwards depending on how near you sit next to the action).
But spread out over a full four hours ,you do get a helluva lot for your money.
It is on until Feb 2020, so it is perfect for the Christmas office party.
You came out at the end thinking, wow what an amazing evening.

Saturday 21 September 2019.
THE SISTERS OF MERCY + AMENRA live at The Roundhouse, London.
TSOM play the second of two sold out shows at The Roundhouse.
Sisters of Mercy have had 7 x Top 40 hit singles in the UK , including 2 x Top 10s.
They are now just a touring band as the last of their three albums was released back in 1990.
I have seen them a few times since 1998 when they played The Forum.
Support comes from Amenra who hail from Belgium and have released six studio albums.
-------------------
The loyal black clothed goth fans of TSOM always turn out in force to support their heroes.
AMENRA arrived on stage at 7.45pm and played for 45 mins.
The band's unique musical style, characterised by brooding atmospheres and spiritual intensity, is rooted in doom metal, hardcore punk and post-rock. Their live performances are accompanied by visual art on the big stage curtain.
Not my cup tea at all, and even TSOM fans didn't seem that interested in them.
THE SISTERS OF MERCY arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 90 mins.
TSOM don't have a real drummer as they use backing tapes/synth drum machine for the beats.
They have a few giant mirrors above the stage which filled out the stage well.
The Sisters have an industrial, dark and gloomy sound. However, the light show is impressive, the band are tight and look good, Andrew Eldritch still seriously scary and enigmatic as ever on vocals with an
emotionless stare from behind his trade mark shades.
The main set ticked along nicely , but was a bit samey.
The encore was a highlight as it included their hits "Temple of Love" and "This Corrosion"
A good show.

The restaurant and club are the creation of Nic Brooks and Jake Panayiotou. Nic is a former city professional, while Jake was the main force behind and owner of the original Wellington Club Knightsbridge.
The venue showcases a carefully curated Modern European menu, created by its Executive Chef Brett Duarte, formerly Executive Chef of Gaucho Group. Duarte explores unique flavours, using only the finest fresh seasonal ingredients, in a selection of seafood, steak and vegetarian dishes.
Split across the ground and basement floors, The Wellington is a stylish setting with a series of private dining rooms and a total cover space of 130. Its interiors are inspired by the worlds of rock ‘n roll and modern art, while strongly referenced against the backdrop of a traditional St James’s private members’ club.
The restaurant’s walls are adorned with hand-painted original graffiti by Damien Hirst, which sit alongside one of the artist’s rare large-scale print of ‘The Hours’. The everlasting love affair between rock ‘n roll and neon is on display throughout the venue by a number of neon works by the incredible Chris Bracey.
Around 200 guests over the two levels of this nightclub and it is busy and buzzy as the dj played tunes.
The Wellington Club has been open a few months but tonight was to launch their new restaurant.
The food here was top notch fare.
They really splashed the cash here as there was loads of complimentary drinks & food including
four different cocktails, different sprits , prosecco, wines and beers.
Even though it was a nighclub setting the food came out as starters, mains and desserts.
We went through each , so ten different small plates of food had.
Four different starters including steak tartare, rock oysters and pan fried scallops.
Four different mains Scotch Black Angus Steak strips , grilled chicken and Pan fried halibut.
Two different desserts including a superb Tiramisu choux , espresso truffle and mascarpone cream.
The food was pretty amazing.
Also the stunning vintage toilets here must get a mention too.
The drinks were still coming out when we left at 11.30pm after 4 and a half hours here.
An excellent event.
----------------------
The club was put up for sale a couple of years ago due to the tragic murder of the previous owner.
The club used to be called Hey Jo and the Abracadabra restaurant was within it.
They were owned by a colourful chap called Dave West.
Dave West built a family tobacco business in Belgium with his wife and children. In 1980 he founded a wholesale business on a double decker bus in Calais selling cheap alcohol and cigarettes on the back of a lorry. His business moved to permanent premises and was named EastEnders, which is now a part of the largest British owned cash and carry group in Europe.
Following a drunken argument with his son (David West Jr), he died from a single knife wound to the heart on 12 December 2014, though his jugular vein had also been cut. His son was arrested and subsequently charged with his murder.Nearby resident Stephen Fry said that he heard "horrifying screams" coming from the house and later saw West's body being carried out. The emergency services laid his body on the street where they tried unsuccessfully to revive him. A close friend also said that he was in shock as West and his son had been very close.
David West Jr was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years on 9 November 2015 for his father's manslaughter.

BONNIE TYLER live at The Palladium, London.
Celebrating her 50th year of live performance, Bonnie Tyler will be performing her first major headline show in London for over four years. The show features classics from throughout her career and tracks from her forthcoming 17th studio album "Between The Earth And The Stars".
Bonnie Tyler does not really seem to play London that often but i did see her headline Hammersmith Odeon in 1988.
Her fifth album "Faster Than the Speed of Night " from 1983 was produced by Jim Steinman and he wrote its most successful single "Total Eclipse of the Heart" which was number one in the UK.
The musicians used on the album included two members of Bruce Springsteen's band ,
Max Weinberg (drums) and Roy Bittan (piano/keyboards).
-------------------
The show is not sold out but it looks like 90% of tickets were taken.
I have a great seat , 10 rows from the stage ,dead centre next to many of Bonnie's family & friends.
BONNIE TYLER and her band arrived on stage at 9pm and played for around 95 mins.
Bonnie is now aged 68 but still looks the same as she did in the 1980s.
Bonnie is a Welsh singer known for her distinctive husky voice, which still sounds fantastic.
Several average tracks were played from the new album along with her big hits.
Bonnie's Welsh accent and excitable on stage chatterbox personality is really infectious.
Bonnie said she had supported Gene Pitney at this same venue in 1976.
Tonight was a big celebratory gig for her and she admitted to "bricking it" beforehand.
A very enjoyable show overall.

In 2008 The Daily Telegraph ranked Gormley number 4 in their list of the "100 most powerful people in British culture".
Works are here in several rooms from his 45 year career.
At 7.15pm there were speeches.
My fave room was where his cast iron males are hanging from the ceiling and side walls.
Complimentary Fortnum's & Mason champers, prosecco and beers but oddly no food whatsoever.

BIG THE MUSICAL - gala/press night opening party - 100 Wardour Street, Soho, London W1.
Another big crowd of around 500 guests at this restaurant & bar that is built on the site
of the legendary Marquee Club where i saw many great gigs in the 1970s and 1980s.
The show was at The Dominion Theatre earlier, starring Jay McGuiness, Wendi Peters, Kimberley Walsh and Matthew Kelly. All the cast were here.it is the musical adaptation of the hit 1980s film starring Tom Hanks, about a 12 year old who transforms into an adult.
Some celebrity faces saw the musical but didn't bother with the party but I did see comedian Jim Davidson
and New York actress Didi Conn who played Frenchie in Grease at the party.
There was a dj playing all 80s tunes to match the decade the musical was set in.
Lots of complimentary drinks and food here including prosecco, wines, beers, burgers, fish & chips,
different bowl food and yummy spicy king prawns...I left before the desserts came out.
It was still very lively when i left as it was due to finish at 1am.

Monday 16 September 2019.
A sad death of a musician whose albums I have.
Ric Ocasek, frontman of the popular late 1970s and 1980s band the Cars, was found dead in his New York home on Sunday. He was 75.
The Cars only ever played two shows in the UK, which was when their debut album came out in 1978.
They just stayed in North America for tours after that.
----------------
Happy Birthday to drummer KENNEY JONES who is 71 today.
Kenny is best known for his work in the groups Small Faces, Faces, and the Who. Jones was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces/Faces.
----------------
Monday morning ITV 8am featured a rare interview with Sinead O'Connor.
She also sung a stunning version of "Nothing Compares 2 U".

BBC Radio 2 Festival in a Day at Hyde Park, London.
Eight acts play short sets of 30 to 65 mins including Pet Shop Boys + Simply Red + Status Quo + others.
Remember to get there at lunchtime as they only confirm the headliner as last on and it is always
a big name first on and they never give stage times or running order out in advance.
Last year i saw Lenny Kravitz here as the first band on stage.
A huge crowd of around 50,000 will be there.
---------------
It may be mid September but the weather today is scorching hot.
All acts have use of the three big screen - two for live footage and one for pre-recorded images.
SIMPLY RED arrived on stage at 1.15pm for their 30 mins set.
They were a nice warm act with some of their white soul hits.
Mick said a full tour for 2020 will be announced soon.

They headline a massive show at Wembley Stadium in Aug 2020.

PET SHOP BOYS arrived on stage at 8.20pm and played for 65 mins.
Pet Shop Boys are headliners as they have the most interesting arty live show on the bill.
They have the advantage of playing in the dark so the lasers look good.
Lots of costume changes by Neil and dancers in various wacky attire.
Visually they always put on a fantastic show.
The show highlights tonight were taken from their longer full shows I have seen over the past
few years at The Royal Albert Hall (2014) and The Royal Opera House (2016 and 2018).
